The civilized gamers would speak up more, but we're too busy actually playing games to really care. Granted, I do have moments where I am vocal about things, but I don't care enough about other people's opinions to really push it.

Just to be fair, while it does come across as bragging, it's also the truth. And for most of us, the graphics discussion is primarily used because we see the decline of our platform of choice and need a strong point in our favor.

Personally, I could care less. I happen to be lucky enough to have a good paying job, a car that's all paid off, and a house with a low monthly payment. I can afford the $500 I spent on my video cards, the 65" TV in the living roo...

I already posted my response to the whole "Are PC gamers stuck up/jerks/etc?" thing a while ago, but let me summarize this for you real quick just to make sure you understand where, at least for me, the anger comes from.

For me Steam isn't just an online store. It's a gaming platform. It's my PC's version of Xbox live/dashboard or the Playstation Network/XMB. I buy my game, download, and install it all from one simple interface. I launch my gam...

Probably his publisher. Eat Sleep Play just makes the games, Sony packages, ships, and decides the MSRP.

I'm glad that my list of must buy games isn't that long. This year I'm looking at Skyrim, Deus Ex, RAGE, BF3, NHL12, AC:R, and Uncharted 3 for my must buy. Oh, and The Old Republic if it actually releases this year. I'm too jaded on Need for Speed to buy The Run without renting it first. Granted, if it were Criterion making this one I'd buy it on day one.

Honestly, though, given how Skyrim is shaping up, come November 11th I highly doubt my PS3 or 36...

At least someone acknowledged the fact that games are extremely expensive anymore. It wasn't all that long ago that we were paying $50, and prices dropped down to $40 or lower at a pretty decent rate. If it were up to some jackasses *cough*BobbyKotick*cough* we'd be paying a lot more.

While I completely understand where you're coming from, I think you kind of have to take it as a fact that most MMOs are going to focus on the end content after release because that's where everyone (even the casual players) will end up. I totally agree that there needs to be more focus on keeping the lower level areas fresh, but honestly you can only expect so much out of a dev team who is already taxed with keeping up with or ahead of the masses who have already reached the end gam...

Well there's your problem. You need a new TV. Or you need to start watching things that are actually displayed at 1080p. Currently, my 65" TV is set up against the wall that separates my living room and bedroom. If people come over when I'm watching something on blu-ray or on directv, without fail everyone comments how it looks like there's a hole in the wall and we're just watching shit that is happening in my room. In fact, it was almost the the point when I first ...

@gcolley

What do you think the "i" in 1080i stands for, genius? Despite what you may have read on wikipedia, interlaced video is still used by all HDTVs on the market. Most, if not all current models, have progressive scan capabilities, and it's preferable to use progressive scan whenever possible, but they are actually capable of using the interlaced video signal displayed by most cable and satellite receivers.

@Vashlion

I used to work at the Gamestop here, and am friends with all but one person currently working there. And this is actually a conversation that we've had a few times, so the last time we got into this discussion we asked Liza, the manager, to check the number of preorders. She couldn't give exact numbers, but said that BF3 was ahead at about a ratio of 3:2.

The whole beef, as you put it, is about the fact that with the online pass, you can't buy a used copy of the game and just start playing online. You have to shell out another $10. EA started using the online pass as a way to ensure they still get profit on every game sold. Some people feel that EA shouldn't make money on their games apparently, and have thrown a huge fit over this.

As for the pass not working on multiple profiles, I can't say for certain. I&...

Eh, it's true for the Gamestop where I live. MW3 has about 2/3 the amount of preorders as BF3.

It's a draft horse. They're bigger because they usually pull heavy wagons. Also keep in mind that Skyrim is a mostly arctic region, meaning that most wildlife will either have heavy coats of fur, or will be a bit fatter than their warm weather counterparts.

Hate to say it, dude, but all videos we've seen so far are from the 360. But seriously, why complain about that? If it looks this good on the 360 I can only imagine how awesome it's going to look on the PC. And we finally have a console game that actually looks comparable to most PC games now days. With graphics and performance of that high of quality, the only things the console version of Skyrim are missing are keyboard and mouse support and the ability to install mods, making S...

Where did you get the idea that the game was aiming to be realistic? Last I checked, Elder Scrolls games didn't concern themselves with being realistic so much as being fun to play. If you really need gore to have fun, perhaps you need to talk to someone professionally.

So what you're saying is that Steam isn't as big as it could be because Valve hasn't given us HL3/Ep3 yet? At this point Steam and Half-Life are not one and the same. Steam isn't a game, it's a Digital Distribution Platform, and last time I checked it had plenty of games to make it worth having. You almost have to look at Valve in two different ways. There is Valve the game designer, who admittedly might be a bit slow to bring us a new Counter-Strike or the next instal...

Except that EA hasn't learned, and the EA Store/EA Link/Origin hasn't come close to what Valve has done with Steam. Steam has succeeded in being what Games for Windows LIVE wanted to be: a unified PC platform. Valve gets PC gamers, because that is who they develop for first and foremost. Look at the summer sale currently going on, and the constant weekend deals, not to mention the way Steam makes managing my PC games (even ones not purchased through Steam) easier than managing my c...

I just want to see actual PC footage. So far everything we've seen has been from the 360. Granted, that is pure awesomeness since everything we've seen so far looks fantastic, and it'll look even better on the PC, but I'm kind of impatient and want to see this shit now.

Also, I think for mods on consoles the only way they're ever going to be able to do that is to have a team set aside who can test player made mods to ensure they do not affect the game ...

Sorry, but an 8800GTX isn't going to pull 30fps at 1920x1080, especially not at medium to high settings. Even running a 6 core processor with 16GBs of RAM would not net you that high.

But at 720 you'd probably be able to push medium to high settings and be able to get a comparable frame rate.

And that's why we have Vent/Teamspeak for the PC.
