You also have to actually enter a ranked server before the unlocks become available, which is something that most people miss. I panicked about it myself when I first launched the game and tried to unlock all my goodies, but went into a game anyway and received them all right away.
Actually, from what I've been reading, it's just a reboot of their servers. There shouldn't be any data loss that occurs with that. It's not different than rebooting your PC.
@IronFistChinMi
So when do we get to claim the lives of Tim Willits' children? He said he swears on the lives of his children that nothing was cut from Rage due to disc limitations, but we know for a fact that Id had to remove an entire 1/3 of the game.
that's very true. Communication is a great and wonderful thing, but most people are in the game for themselves, and it is hard to impress the importance of teamwork on people like that. Hell, most of the time I see over half of the people running around without a squad. BF2 and BF2142 did everything they could to demonstrate the importance of squads and teamwork, but still more often than not most people are going to run around without a squad. This is why I hope to either reform my old c...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to brag. I tend to stay on the humble side of things, even during my periods of extreme luck when I own face several weeks in a row. I'm just saying that at the moment there seems to be a lot of people that play the demo regularly, and that should give them plenty of time to get used to the map. Granted, this is the PC version I'm speaking of, so I don't know how many low ranking people one might run into on the consoles.
You know you can lock a squad, right? I haven't messed around with it too much as I don't have many friends that are able to play yet, but I'd imagine you can lock your squad and invite certain people to join so as to limit idiots for ruining your squad score.
@Aggesan
Actually, I'm surprised at how many people I come across who are way higher ranked than I am and yet I always seem to score higher than they do. When the actual game comes out with all of the maps and the different modes, then I will reserve the need to brag about scores, but at the moment where we only have one map and one mode, it doesn't take long to get used to things, so that's not much of an excuse.
I wasn't a big fan of shift. It tried really hard to be Gran Turismo, and while I'm all for some GT style racing, it's not what I have come to expect from NFS.
I realize that NFS started out as a "closed course" style racer with arcade and realistic elements combined, but I've grown to love the open world illegal street racing. Underground 2 is probably my favorite in the series, with Most Wanted coming in at a very close second. It's like The Fast and The Furiou...
I've already stated this in another reply, but I can easily hook my PC to my big screen out in the living room. In fact, I'm giving serious though to making a slight modification in my house since my living room and office are right next to each other and my PC and TV are against the same wall. I'm considering drilling a small conduit in the wall, running a DVI-to-HDMI cable and an optical audio cable through the conduit and setting up a permanent connection to my PC. I already have the wi...
Agreed. Although I have to admit that I've taken the time to haul my rig out into the livingroom on more than one occasion since picking up a 56" tv. Only takes a couple of minutes to hook everything up, and playing L4D2 or Borderlands or even WoW at 1080p with everything maxed while sitting in a recliner and using a tv lap tray for the keyboard and mouse is pretty win.
This is why I'm glad I have the money for both. My PC has always been in the mid to high range for performance. My bonus check from work paid for my PS3. My roommate and I split the cost of our Wii. And I bought my 360 after the latest price drop (though to be honest it has spent more time in the shop being repaired then on my entertainment center. Hurray NXE patch and E74!). I do a good job of dividing my gaming between both console and PC. Until consoles get mouse/keyboard support fo...
To be fair both movies were horrible. The first one had some good concepts, but setting the film in modern times just ruined it in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that there were no marines to get tangled up in the middle of everything. The only good thing about either movie was the stuff that had to do with the eventual formation of Wayland Yutani.
The Aliens vs Predator stories date back a lot farther than the movies, which have yet to get it right. IrishAssassin is right that the comic books came first. Dark Horse ran a whole lot of small story arcs based on the concept. They built a whole mythology that the AvP movies have not even come close to getting right. The games have all been based on the settings that were put forth in the comics, which is something the movies really need to do in order to get it right.
@cysna
Yeah, but it doesn't take detailed knowledge of the workings of a computer to be able to own and operate a decent gaming PC. Honestly, the only reason I defend the PC so much is because of all the console fanboys who don't realize that without the PC there would be no consoles. I am a gamer, and I don't care what I play a game on, with the minor exception of shooters. Once consoles allow me to use a keyboard and mouse I'll stop caring entirely. That is of course as l...
@TresTrendu
My bad for not specifying. I can see how my comment seemed contradictory. What I meant was I can play any game on my PC at 60fps without any of the tradeoffs that Krakn3Dfx mentioned. So no, I haven't played MW2 yet, but given how well the first one runs, and the fact that it seems to me that they're still using the same engine, with a few tweaks, I'm fairly certain I'll be able to run it just as well. But no, I was not meaning that I have played MW2 on my PC ju...
@ Ju
I'm sorry you don't own a computer that was built after 2004. The last time I checked, my old PC was fully capable of playing games at high resolution at over 60 fps. It wasn't even a top of the line PC when I put it together. The point is knowing what parts to go with.
@ chad22hkd
By inferior do you mean forced to load the entire game from a disc and having to wait several seconds for the game to load due to the read limitations of the opt...
Just so you understand why everyone is laughing at you, I'm going to provide you with a small lesson on what exactly Blu-ray does for gaming.
As mentioned above, Blu-ray is a storage medium. That means it is just a type of disc, and in this case one that can hold up to 50GBs of information (on a dual layer disc). This means that it can hold over 5 times the amount of information that a dual layer DVD (or DVD9) can hold. In turn, that means that if a game were to take full ad...
Meh, I get 60 FPS on my PC without having to worry about the crappy textures. It's just too bad I have to wait to play MW2. It looks great, but I'll be damned if Activision is going to get my money after the way they've been treating their PC customers, especially when it comes to this game. Damn download takes forever. Good thing I've still got Borderlands and Dragon Age to hold me over for the next couple of days...
Uhh, we're not asking for special treatment. We're asking for the same treatment we've received for over a decade, long before online multiplayer was even thought of on a console. There are inherent advantages to playing a multiplayer game on a PC, and one of those advantages is to have a computer that runs all of the game's assets as a dedicated server. Suddenly not having this ability, and being forced to use the same archaic system for finding a multiplayer game that console users for s...
Do you honestly believe those soldiers knew they were firing at journalists? It's pretty clear from the video (no matter how much they want to point at people so that those of us watching are given more information than the soldiers in the chopper) that these guys honestly thought that they had come across a group of insurgents who were armed and moving. If I were in that helicopter and saw what they saw, I'd be in a hurry to take them out as well.
Imagine for a moment that...
