I don't think it's all that much, I think he's helped create the basis for the lore and then handed it over to Miyazaki to do the rest.

Incidentally if anything it's the white bits of the console and controller that's the 'problem' (I don't mind it), changing the black bit only is pretty much guaranteed to make it look worse.
I don't know why the downvotes you're spot on. 7 was a good game but the pendulum did swing a bit too much towards atmospheric horror. 4 had the right balance gameplay wise although it was pretty cheesy.
I think 8 will take what worked from 7 and filter it through all the other games.
I think it should have the go anywhere vertical exploration of the AC games. I found it irritating in HZD scrabbling around at the bottom of a mountain that she should be able to climb easily.

Do people seriously think CDPR will ditch a game they spent so much time and money on? No chance. If you want a precedent for it look at TW3, I believe it received a lot of criticism at launch but to say they fixed it is an understatement.
I think the next gen versions will be great eventually. Current gen/last gen/whatever it's called gen I don't think has the horsepower to do it justice and will be passable at best.
I'm sure they will pour all their energy into polishing the game, they want it to be a long term success and their reputation has taken a big hit.

How are they in exactly the same boat if one launched with big new games and the other didn't? If you're talking about reasons to take the plunge and buy one at this moment in time there's a clear advantage for the PS.

Yeah they're trying to compete with MS for console sales and maybe making a loss, not sure about that, maybe they should position themselves as the quality prestige console maker and charge more accordingly.
MS seem keen to play into the hands of that strategy with their quantity over quality approach.

I wasn't excited for Disney Star Wars but The Mandalorian turned out pretty great.
