I never thought it would be a Souls copy because Warframe had nothing in common with it, but I do think they're leaning into it. No devs are naive enough to put 'Soul' or 'Souls' in their new game name and not expect people to make a connection.
The trailer and blurb on their site also backs up that they've "taken inspiration".
It's going to take time, decades maybe, for the women's game to build up enough interest for it to come remotely close to the men's game. There are a handful of players becoming household names compared to countless iconic male players over the years.
Quite intriguing. I played a huge amount of Warframe but I was never engaged with any of the lore. This looks more interesting in that sense, looks like they've taken inspiration from From, especially considering the name.
Similar hours for me I think, I also haven't touched another game since I started so it's been a bit much.
Good call on that, didn't occur to me but I checked the trophies afterwards and if I'd done all the different endings I'd have got the platinum too. I assumed I'd have missed loads, oh well.
Finished it today, brilliant game. I was ready to move on but that's not a reflection on its quality just a result of a slightly exhausting obsession with a very long game.
It deserves all of its success.
I think they are seeing what's working elsewhere and doing their version of it, that's common sense on their part. Can't be the ones to come up with everything first.
They won't be 'mimicking' MS in a general sense though. Why would they.
Fair enough they wanted to pad the first instalment and stretch Midgar out if that's how the plan works for the trilogy, surely in the next two they'll be no need whatsoever for any padding. There's a hell of a lot to get through.
Meltdown is code for don't bother.
I'm assuming with the size and quality of Elden Ring that it's swallowed up most of their resources in recent years so I'm guessing it'll be something small. Another VR game maybe.
You forgot your backhanded compliment to give the illusion of neutrality, standards are slipping.
I loved turn based but I think it can be bettered with action combat if it's done right. FF7 remake did a good job of progressing it because there was still strategy built into it, but it could be better. It could do with a little bit of Dark Souls' deliberation.
It doesn't look awful but there's an aggressive blandness to it. I like Fallout and ES but if anything they need more focus on details, this looks like it's taking something already quite thin and spreading it out for 1000 miles in every direction.
"We were all expecting this far sooner."
Someone's got an inflated idea of their own importance. Thanks for the concern though.
Art books are great, I've got one for Dark Souls. I figured that physical guides were more or less obsolete these days but I guess not.
I suppose a book would be easier and more pleasant to use than doing everything online.
I don't know why you'd buy a guide when everything you could want to know is available online for free, but boy does this game need a guide if you want to complete all the NPC quests satisfactorily.
Looks heavily 'inspired' by Blasphemous even down to the art style, bit of Bloodborne too. Not a problem though and those are both brilliant games to be influenced by. Looks great.
Needs a bit more editing tbh.
It will happen once in a while, although that depends on your definition of big hitters, but it won't become the norm and nor should it. Sony sell a lot of games when they are new and that's a fact.
After sales die down introduce the games to PS+ and PC. That looks like an excellent business model to me.
