Skylanders has never been welcome! You are crazy to support this crazy business model of spending hundreds of dollars on a single game and unlocking all it's content already on the disk.
Titanfall may be the most overhyped and rated game ever! It has so many issues, it's boring, and way overpriced.
Well, they haven't changed a bit!
“but every game is going to be a service”
So, in other words; take control of the market and devalue your games in the process.
“Everybody obviously sees the Titanfall stuff with the cloud. It’s easy to get into a match, low latency, all those sorts of things. But then there’s this other thing where I’m relying on the cloud so I can offload more stuff. Now we have AI coming from the cloud as well."
We sh...
It quite obvious that Microsoft wants to create the perception it's an Xbox One exclusive to sell units; and releasing the Xbox 360 port afterwards only helps to do so. The Xbox 360 port of the game will be near identical.
Microsoft shouldn't have got into the console business to begin with, and kept focused on the PC. It has never made any sense; outside of the opportunity and thirst for money. PC are the "all-in-one entertainment system!"
"functionality, games, value." Their priorities are still backwards!
The free-to-play business model has been and will only continue to go down the very dark road of aggressive monetization. The games are intentionally designed around getting player's to spend real money; they do so by making the whole experience a grind, and include convenience items (that you must spend real money to purchase) to speed up that intentionally created grind; they also include premium item (only purchasable with real money) feeding on a player's 'wants'; they may...
Until they decide to actually change the netcode so it does not benefit shitty internet connections while punishing excellent ones; the franchise will continue to not be worth it. Call of Duty 4 will always be the best!
I couldn't agree more with the article; review scores absolutely need to reflect a game's length/content to price ratio (or in other words, their value). The review scores for Titanfall are very guilty of this as well.
My source informed me you'll see lots of shooters, HD remakes, and sequels. And there will be at least one surprise that will have people flip out, but not in the good way.
It was pretty obvious a while ago that Microsoft wants to create the perception it's an Xbox One exclusive to push units; any extra sales are due to that. Xbox 360 port will be near identical.
While the launch parity clause is a big issue; let's not forget Microsoft also doesn't treat indies well, or equally.
This is the first trailer since the teaser at the PS4 reveal that had me interested in this game again. But then I remembered it's Free-to-Play, so nevermind.
Sony needs to be very cautious about pricing it above $229.99 if they really want it to become mainstream. That would be just above half the price of the console itself. And the mainstream likely continues to wrap their heads around gaming consoles being more expensive these days.
While increased specifications may improve the visual fidelity; it would not only lead to a higher price tag, but also be more demanding for the hardware to render the improved picture, making game...
“ESRAM is so incredibly high bandwidth that you can do amazing things with it.”
But of course, he fails to mention how incredibly small it is; a measly 32 MB. That is precisely why it's such a bitch to deal with, and the resolution gate.
It's absolutely hilarious they attempt to make the ESRAM sound like a good thing, when it's purpose is only to compensate the lack of faster GDDR5, and it removed over 50% of the GPU power.
"Microsoft is finally treating smaller developers as equals."
Not true.
"Sony lost the game’s console exclusivity and now Xbox owners will have a chance to play it."
Always planned as timed exclusive.
"Microsoft’s launch parity policy may annoy some, but it’s genius in that it ensures the Xbox One will have exclusives."
Pure greedy business strategy, and harmful to indies.
If there was enough supply to meet demand, they'd be out selling the Xbox One even more! And supposedly, Sony is already manufacturing far more supply then Microsoft, making sales worse then they appear for the Xbox One.
Graphics in video games are quickly becoming so photorealistic, you won't notice any need for improvement, and developers can return to focus primarily on gameplay and further improve story, etc. :)
No interest, unless...
1. Campaign returns to the dark, almost scary kind of vibe of the first title.
2. Multiplayer weapons are balanced and stronger, and they don't continue to heavily cater to shotgun rushers. And the netcode must not continue to heavily cater to shitty internet connections (such as players in Mexico).
No more sequels, HD remakes, and shooters. We should all be wanting New IP (or at lease spiritual successors) more then anything! And not every game needs to be photorealistic, with a massive budget and 100's of artists! Gameplay > Story > Graphics
