Yes it is an odd psychological block isn't it. I can't get around it though, when I can't MAX the setting it really irks me, I can't get it out of my head and thus enjoy the game less. With consoles this is not a concern which is why it became the platform of choice for me.
You make valid points that can not be disputed but here is my issue with PC gaming. I am a graphics whore thus if I can't MAX the graphics I feel that I'm missing out on something and not getting the full experience. Like StolenSoul I just couldn't keep up with the cost of hardware upgrades. Consoles are graphically inferior to PC but I'd rather know I'm not getting a sub par experience compared to people who can afford to stay up to date.
I pretty much buy all my games new to try and support the developers whom without I wouldn't have this great hobby. However I would buy far less games if I didn't have the option to trade them in. There is always a risk that I won't like the game or feel it's not something I'll play again in the future, I should add that I kept Heavy Rain in my collection as I loved it. The cost of games would be far too high if I couldn't sell them to the second hand market.
This data tells us there is no winner, it is a draw. The author will likely find no statistical difference (in a simple t-test) between the two or perhaps already did and decided not to show those statistics. Reporting raw averages is statistically useless people, all we get from this article is that PS3 has more exclusives.

I tried to play GTA IV & LA Noire like this also, only drive like a maniac when it contextually fit the story, i.e. chasing or being chased. Problem was I got so bored of driving, after a while I just used quick travel.
On a similar vein though I do tend to have my characters walk rather than run. What persons runs everywhere the go all the time?

I think you're idea is great but to me Kratos is God of War. God of War IV with a different protagonist would be a tragedy in my opinion. Perhaps in the first part of the game we could play as your Hades possessed Kratos and enslave humanity then in the second part somehow break the possession and try and right the wrong?
I also cannot see Liara striking this pose, does not fit her character at all... but it's still hot ;)
I'm liking this a lot. I also lost interest in playing Brotherhood's multiplayer when most people just sprinted around on rooftops. The stealth play and tactics using abilities and perks was ruined. So far in the beta this seems fixed, if my persuer runs towed me and I see them coming a red arrow appears above their head and I can easily counter them. Stealth is currently the name of the game.
Be careful, this is old news from July. There is currently no R18+, a final decision is scheduled to be made in January 2012, all previously banned games still are.
The publisher (Valve?) would need a pay a hefty resubmission fee to have it go through the classification system once R18+ has been introduced (final decision scheduled for January 2012). This is unlikely to happen, cheaper for them to submit a new version containing unseen DLC and calling it for example Left 4 Dead 2 Gold edition. I'm expection (hoping too) something like this will happen for Mortal Kombat 9.
Games should be the best they can be on each platform. If this policy was in place when FFXIII released do you feel it fair that PS3 owners receive a lower quality game just because the XBOX can't produce equal graphics. That is what this policy of parity is trying to do.
Microsoft want us to believe that the PS3 and XBOX are on par. Now that most developers have finally come to grips with Sony's advanced architecture MS are concerned their illusion will be shattered. This policy is essentially inhibiting developers from taking full advantage of the PS3's capabilities and it being revealed as the superior consol, plain and simple and it pisses me off.
Can someone confirm for me that the new Tomb Raider is a reboot and not a prequel?
And from what I've seen I'd draw more comparisons between Batman Arkham City and Assassin's Creed. That is unless Tomb Raider is also open world, I'm expecting Uncharted to be linear like the previous titles.

I know the chances of getting busted are low but it would be nice to legally import Mortal Kombat.
I wonder if some current M15+ games will have they're rating changed? God of War III for example, I was glad it got through our classification system but also surprised.
Just saw the trailer for this on tv. Looks awesome. I could probably afford a second console now and this game be reason enough.
