Gamers, especially those of us with multiple consoles. Conversations like "who won" don't even speak to the business strategy behind customer acquisition.

@KilKarazy technically the atni aliasing on 4k rendering is turned down or often disabled because it's not needed since the pixel density is so high. On my 4k capable pc I always turn antialiasing off because it's simply not needed with such a high pixel count.

What's more mind boggling is Wccftech posted this article, used to be a quality site now going the way of polygon for clicks. What's even ummer is the article is taking digital foundry out of context to bitch about something that is not a problem. Essentially 4k over hdmi 1.4 still works at 24hz refresh over ycbcr420 which is every freaking 4k monitor or TV on the market. WTF.

Right, and they should have, because it's not a standard that is being used any more. If people want to be on the cutting edge this type of stuff happens. It's a known quantity that if you early adopt thing will deprecate and you will be left out. It's not on Sony to appease the moron customer in this instance. Their target market is not those 4k TV owners that haven't firmware updated their ports no matter how much they want it. If I buy a Corvette, and 4 years later a bet...

That was also a time when 4k tvs were 10k, I'm sure those that had the money for a $10k tv have already upgraded because the PS4 pro is obviously not the only thing they wanted 4k for given they adopted in year 1. Any 1.4a hdmi port was upgradable with firmware for this reason, and I still don't know of any 1.4 only 4k tvs.

Edit, just to be sure I googled 2013 and 2014 4k TV's all either had an hdmi 2.0 port or had upgradable 1.4a ports. Compaining about 4k o...

No, and the people that list the upcoming exclusives are so short sighted. As a hobbyist I own both the pro, an xbox one s, and a powerful pc. What is mind boggling to me are the gaming webstire reporting on the quality of the ps4 pro and HDR when at the time only 3 tv brand have models with true hdr. I also understand the the normal model has HDR as well, but no 1080p TV's have HDR, so you would need a 4k tv to take advantage of the feature. For me buying the Pro, selling my old one wa...

Why, all 4k TV's have at least one HDMI 2.0 port, and those that didn't had the hardware and were able to be ugraded via firmware? Their is no reason to have an HDMI 2.0 port on a non 4k TV, so I am not sure why 4k support on HDMI 1.4 is necessary for a console.

I also don't know if one 4K TV that doesn't have at least one HDMI 2.0 Port if you bought a 4K TV with only one point four points that's on you

Sigh, console gamers complaining again. 4k has always required 2.0 ports, even on pc. 1.4 only supports 4k at 24 frames per second. So in a nutshell people with crappy tvs are buying pro hardware and complining tht it doesnt work properly. Ok

Normally I would agree. But in the case of HDR and input lag the numbers are not always easy to find. In addition these numbers are not provided from the manufacturer, as well as the ability for them to change depending on firmware update. One could also assume that a $2000 - $4000 tv should certainly accommodate for gamers consider gaming consoles are the primary driver of HDR and 4k content at the moment even if it's upscaled. Instead of being up front about performance the manufact...

I wasn't going to pick this up since I already have a fat and slim. But I can 't resist the latest greatest. Plus I have a 4k tv, it's a no brainer. I'm also curios to test my tv's upscale vs my xbox one s vs the pro.

Nice, but there are way better wheels that allow you to play racing games now on xbox on pc until the one racing exclusive comes out. Plus Gran Turismo is more of a driving sim than racing sim. https://www.youtube.com/pla...

Cool, for what racing sim racing game on PS4?

There is a weird hypocrisy in the gaming media. If it's a game like Uncharted story narritive will drive the score regardless of boring repetitive gameplay, same with gears of wars. In a game like GTAV, again clunky game play but rated will for it's ambition. Then a game like Mafia 3 hits, with some of the best acting and story narrative that I have ever seen and it gets 6 and 7's.
