Not since the ps2 Era. The problem this gen is console gamers started caring about 1080p 60 which in the past was something pc gamers worried about. So they are releasing a product for everyone complaining and to now get 800 for system from some people this generation. This has moved me back to primary pc because I would rather spend the money there and buy nintendo as my console.
Eventually gamers and going to start complaining the the original hardware support is holding gaming back. It's an intermediate step toward PC.
I'm all for iterative console releases, but I think everyone needs to slow down on the 4k. Although technically possible for some lighter games, the spec on the new machine will not deliver 4k 30fps for sure not 60fps on 3d world games. I hope im proven wrong, if devs can find a way to get 4k out of a $400 box in a closed environment then we all win, but I don't see it with this release.
Why is Nintendo in quotes in the headline?
It's not about PC vs console price points it's about people that expect $1000 PC performance from a console
What the hell do people expect at this point in 2016 these are low-end PCS in a box the same people complaining about frame rate are the same people complaining about iterative console releases which of the same people that are complaining about the PC Master race it's just stupid
How does that maximize profits
Because they also need to listen to shareholders and worry about maximizing profits, public opinion and returning investment to shareholders do not always go hand in hand.
There is a gray area opinion where discs are great for some and digital others. The option of choice is great for everyone.
I don't think discs are stupid, but I have went digital on all systems. I have two XB1's and PS4's one of each in the living room and media room. It's super convenient to just download and load on all systems, plus PC and steam link, it all works great. First world problems I know, but I like having the option, just as disc buyers like the option of borrowing and trading in.
Level cap in an MMO based shooter is irrelevant, the end game and loot grind is where it's at, not the level cap.

mrsec84 do you know how target market segmentation works? Not everyone is the core demo even if a product can and will appeal to all. I'd like to see positive differences as hardware allows but if there isn't platform parity the internet goes bonkers because they feel slighted due to brand allegiances
