Why am I king? Because i bravely play games on all of the consoles for maximum gaming.
No shit. Do gamers really think their 200 to $400 box can do 4k/60 for a game like that? SMH. I think i gave the gaming community too much credit when it came to technical competence. Gamers are dumb sometimes.
Also the largest commercial blueray is 300gb not a terabyte.
@kneon, dude, the companies do not want to maintain that physicial supply chain. They dont'. They also don't want to continue to manufacture boxes with optical drives. Hell, there isn't much money in hardware sales anyway. They want to get to a hardware agnostic ecosystem where they are push games to all connected devices.
So what is the solution for 200gb games with 4k assets in 5 years? New optical media? Flash Drives? Mutlipe Discs? At this point the disc is just a drm check after it installs to the hard drive and downloads patches and updates.
It's also a much bigger pain in the ass for companies to have to manage the supply chain associated with physical media. IE, manufacturing partners, distribution, warehouse space, returns, etc.... It makes sense for everyone including ISPs to get on board that the internet infrastructure needs to be imporved world wide, but the benefits will be great for everyone, including the consumers.
In a lot of ways physical is getting less cost effective even for the consumer. For example, Yoku's Island Express is twice as much for the physical copy on switch.
They won't. @darthv72 "Like it's been doing now. Release what fits on disc and then you get the rest via dlc. Or they start using quad layer discs." That is certainly an option, but the content on disc is still useless without an internet connection in that case. The only thing in the way is wuality internet access
At some point within the next 5 years it will be. Especially when huge 4k assets are the standard. Optical media isn't getting bigger than 50gb, and flash memory is noy cost effective, look at the switch. When games are eventually 150 to 200gb, which isn't out of the question considering todays sizes, then streaming and digital downloads will be the only options.
That said there is still a lot of work to do from an internet access and infrastructure stand point.
Yeah.i just wrote the same tg hjng before seeing your comment. Obviously the author doesnt know what uncanny valley is or he is insulting the game.
Did they really mean uncanny valley? I think this looks too good to be uncanny valley. uncanny valley is heavy rain.
Sony can't afford to be arrogant, honestly the fortnight issue isnt a case of arrogance, its worry. They know a platform agnostic futre is imminent and MS can leverage the azure infrastructure as well as the 300 million windows 10 install to capitalize.
The irony.
The truth is Naughty Dog has the luxury of time. A log of developers are under pressure to get games out the doors to pay bills and avoid getting shutdown. These is a very small group of team in an industry that have the luxury of working toward perfection. In most cases minimal viable with constant iteration is the norm. I am not saying it's right, but that's the truth of it.
I agree, i still want to see the game part. What will the actual gameplay have me doing, right now I don't know so I can't say one way or another if I am going to pick it up.
I saw 50 games, some of which I will play on PC, some I will play on PS4, and some I Will play on xbox. Was a good show to me. I guess if your poor or a douche and only play on one system, then yeah, I suppose.
So anytime someone doesnt share your opinion you just avoid it?
Its also okay for the. To have crappy stories and its okay for me to skip those games.
RIght but when sony did it they were enhance games, and they were sold at a discount. Sony knew we played all those titles and discounted them in good faith. Not nintendo. Where were you during the WIIU. I bought every nintendo published game on wiiu. which is why I am pissed the ports are full price. Unlike sony.
Only on n4g where does a post get downvited 3 to 1 that 100% accurately represents why people want crossplay
