People were experiencing RROD day one of the xbox360's launch (november 25, 2005). If all three consoles had launched at the same time people would have had an alternative. Microsoft did not cover RROD under warranty until JULY 2007. So that means if you already had a library of 360 games (from NOV. 25, '05- NOV. 16, '06) and you got RROD, your only option was to trade it in towards the purchase of a new one. I, myself had to do it, and at the time people what it was still cheaper...
games run at 2160 x 1600 with last years gpus. Tegra 4 is running 4k (video resolution) and also can run Unreal Engine 4 (nvidia shield tech demo Ces 2013). Just saying.
or disagreeing. I think Gta5 is also being released in March. Releaseing in April won't hurt them in the least. I think they're trying to maximize their first, three week sales as much as possible. Having less competition to compete with usually ensures that.
with all due respect Microsoft did indeed "blow" an entire head start (10 million). They tried to get a jump on the current gen by releasing faulty hardware which they didn't cover until July 2007. Hardware sales actually do mean something when you're selling your system for a profit (all three now are profitable). I've owned 3 xbox360s this gen and only one 60gig ps3 (since 2007). There is not one 360 exclusive that has me excited. I cannot buy Last of US, Beyond: Two S...
about all the years prior to 2011? It still doesnt explain how Microsoft blew an entire year's headstart this gen. You're right about Vgchartz numbers being inaccurate so i'll dismiss those. But lets talk about what we do know. Microsoft announced Oct. 19th, that they sold 70 million. As of Nov. 4th ( two weeks later)Sony says ps3 sales (not ps3/ps2) passed 70 million. The facts are ps3 sells at a faster rate than xbox360, while being the most expensive of the three consoles. Next...
don't think for yourself do you? You let the internet do it for you. There has been so much speculation on this simply because it's been the only real news since quarterly reports. The ps3 was suppose to block used games. Did that end up happening, no. They should do what they're doing now with online passes. Lock content, and force the person to pay to unlock them. $10-$15 is reasonable and you're left with two choices, either buy it new, or Gamestop is going to have to drop ...
"Nothing is FREE in life"...Except that I'm not being charged to play with my friends on PSN. You're also talking about a technicality, which (in a way) you're correct. But regardless you don't receive this kind of deal with XBOX LIVE which some consider superior. You can try to knock PS plus all you want but the fact remains is you simply get a greater value as opposed to LIVE. Even if you don't choose to subscribe, you're still able to enjoy PSN. You're...
for the BIG guys because these numbers mean absolutely nothing. We don't know what they're tracking model include (online retailers unlike npd). You have NPD for US sales, and Media Create/Famitsu for Japan. There is currently no analyst firm tracking EU/PAL because of the different laws and regions. I agree with you waiting on Big three numbers so no disagree here.
On another note, people need to stop complaining about shipped vs sold to consumer. Once these companie...
You never, ever quote these numbers. because VGchartz admitted that these are just estimates. There numbers are way off base until it comes time for the official number to come out. Then that when they adjust their numbers to make it seems as if they're estimates were accurate the entire time. When European analyst firms can't even track EU/PAL territories, I doubt some two-bit, ex-neogaffer hosted site can.
...than ps3 to some extent. But ps3 manage to sell 70million in a smaller time frame. While having a social aspect to your console is a plus, it will never outweigh games. If you just want something to be social, buy a tablet or a smartphone. As gamers we want GAMES, and everything else is just an added plus.
at the time when ps3 was being developed. CELL and Blu-ray were the reason ps3's price point was so high. Some may even argue that in the end, they both actually help Sony. Sony has ensured that there are at least 70 million people with blu-ray players out there.
The part in the article where he says that people having trouble porting PC games over to ps3 only need to look at Battlefield 3. PS3 version looked closer to the PC version as opposed the the 360 which has similar archi...
release a teaser at this event which is only months before e3. Something like a viral trailer would go a long way. Anywhere along the lines of...
Black Screen
Ps4 silhouette fade in then fade out
Same silhouette (different angle) fade in ...fade out
" Gaming's next evolution...." fade out
" is coming.." fade out
Then cryptic e3 announcement date.
That would give them so much clout going into E3...
Like it's made of Alluminum. Better lighting, I doubt that since Frostbite 2 (lighting intensive) engine, run better on ps3 compared to Xbox360. I don't know about LENSofTruth though, I tend to wait and see Digital FOundry's assessment.
topic a little bit. People have been telling Sony to drop the CELL because devs said it's too hard. This just proves my point that it really just comes down to the developers. Had Capcom handled this DMC, it would probably look better on 360. I think Ninja theory would have done better staying exclusive. It might have seems like the most logical choice at the time, but I think they've left a bitter taste in some ps3 owner's mouths. Especially since they moved away from their own e...
at that price point, you could buy a decent graphics card, motherboard, and RAM. The reason why ps3 cost so much is because CELL was expensive and the BD drive. They were trying to get as much money back from their investments as they possibly could. Because of this move though Blu-ray defeated HD-DVD in the HD format war. I don't think we have to worry about $600.00 again. I hope the actually stick with the CELL. Modify it by re-sizing it 22nn and give it 16 cores.
Soldierone on this one. Just look at the Wii U launch games from 3rd party developers. You can't say that they were stumped because Wii U has essentially the same architecture as the XBox360 with a better GPU. Yet games looked worse on Wii U than XBox360 or ps3 in some games. One word, lazy. They didn't even try any type of optimization to take advantage of any of Wii U's pluses. Wii U ran Rayman demo at 1080p @ 60fps without a single dip. Check out DigitalFoundry.
Why wouldn't they keep the cell? All most developers already have their head around how to program for the cell. DICE, Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward (not treyarch), Crytek, Ubisoft. I mean I covered the main three publishers in games. It would cost them less to just reduce the size of the Cell down 22nm than outsource to AMD. It also doesn't make sense for Sony to buy the rest of Toshiba's stock if they were just going to abandon it. Like people say this isn't 2008 anymore. Most...
to keep the Cell. They already own majority of the stock and the manufacturing plant for the CEll. We'll never know until we get the final product. But wouldn't it be cheaper to do it in-house rather than outsource and pay another company?
he's right. There is literally now way to calculate EU sales because of the different laws and regions. NPD sales do not include online sales. Like he said, these are purely speculation. Microsoft should be posting holiday reports mid January. Sony will be posting holiday results early February. VGchartz even say it themselves, these are just estimates aka made up.

an idiot because I've own(ed) 3 xbox360s. Reason why I'm going with SOny on ps4 is because my one 60 gig ps3 has lasted me this entire generation and it's a refurbished one from Gamestop. I bought it back in 2007.
