ESRAM doesn't make the XBox One more powerful if developers use it correctly, it doesn't even close the gap between GDDR5 in PS4 and DDR3 in XBox One, you're talking about a tiny pool of memory, 256X smaller than GDDR5 in PS4 and one that is still 22GB/s slower in bandwidth.
In terms of RAW GPU hardware PS4 also has 2X the ROPs and overall 40% more GPU power, but it's also much more efficient because of the extra ACEs and the greater flexibility of GDDR5 becau...
Couldn't be more true, just like The Last of Us, both are awesome games.
I think people have forgotten that Ready at Dawn are known to be great game creators, so at this point it's assumption based on nothing but one or two tiny portions of the game, not even really based around the meat of what the game is about and that is fight the Half Breeds.
I wouldn't be surprised if R@D drop a far more compelling section of gameplay and a new trailer at the Playsta...
I'd like to see a physical release of The Tomorrow Children, Rime and WiLD, they all look great and worthy of that too me.
So you're a pony (whatever that means) if you give an observation of an Xbox game and you don't happen to think there's that big of a difference between them?
I agree with Thewatercooler. Is there a difference in the textures, geometry and does the addition of Rain add something to the game? Yes, but he resolution makes the biggest difference, showing added clarity to the visuals.
That makes no logical sense!
Sunset Overdrive isn't even out yet, so there's no way to know if it will be a flop.
It seems to be getting good impressions, while it may not be everyone's cup of tea, some people are interested in it.
Ratchet & Clank is an awesome series, many gamers (myself included) were over the moon when this was announced at E3, clearly Sony and Microsoft feel that Insomniac are still a great studio.
They'll likely give numbers at the Playstation Experience event in early December or in early January when they hit the next major milestone.
Expect 15-16M by 31/11/2014 the way things have been going.
Holidays usually account for 50% of the years sales, they likely hit 12 million by the beginning of this month and had sold 4.4million by 31/12/2013, so that puts them at selling about 19.6 million units by 31/12/2014.
Considering that they...
Best feature of any games console too date, Sony really are killing it this generation!
Cool!
@uth11: You obviously missed Jim Ryan's comments about remasters. That's highly doubtful, no the Rage is going to be because of the awesomeness of whatever it is.
It's going to be because haters of PS4 are jealous as per usual. Probably something huge like a Shenmue Saga, exclusive and never going to another platform.
The whole Rage comment could easily have a double meaning, like a game made using the Rage engine, that's exclusive to PS4. Agent is sti...
Dark Chronicle would be awesome, it was trademarked back in May and nothing's been said about it.
PS4 could do with an open world, RPG, action/adventure game exclusive for the PS4.
Not just Shenmue 3, but the entire saga, episodes 1-16 released in 4 boxsets, 4 episodes per boxset, exclusive for PS4.
That would be awesome and PS4 is the best console to release it on exclusively.
It's got the best hardware, biggest install base of the big 3 and the users of PS4 are more the kind of gamer that would play that game IMO.
Because CPU's aren't the be all and end all of modern code processing.
The GPUs in both consoles are perfectly capable of handling the vast majority of code in all situations, CPUs are only really needed as the coordinator within these systems, so that's why they're much smaller.
People need to look at a platform as a whole, not dissect these systems into one or another relatively small part and think that represents the total performance that can be a...
This kind of thing always makes me laugh, Sony handles more users on PSN than any other comparable console online network.
I mean PS3 users, PS4 and Vita, that's a lot of traffic.
Outside of the DDoS attack and scheduled maintenance it works perfectly fine for me.
Ratchet & Clank is meant to be shown this fall, so the first trailer of the PS4 remake will likely be shown at this event.
I know they're new franchises but it'd be nice to get some more info on games like WiLD, Rime, some actual gameplay for Shadow of the Beast.
GT7 has been talked about a lot by PD, so we could see the 1st lot of gameplay and details of that at this event.
Seems likely. Ratchet & Clank will likely get the first glimpses of PS4 gameplay as well, since it does say on the PS Blog that we should see it this fall.
Hopefully GT7, maybe Media Molecule and Guerrilla Game's new IPs could be announced.
Without Memory could be shown at this event too.
Sony would still have a lot of 1st party stuff and likely a boat load of 2nd/3rd party exclusives to unveil across the conferences that will be held...
@andrewer Did you read that article? Nowhere in it does it say PS4 can't handle the game, the fact Ubisoft have said they're CPU bound shows they aren't using the hardware as it's meant to be used.
GPGPU can handle AI fine, if it's coded to do that, Ubisoft have basically admitted to using both systems in the opposite way they were designed to work.
Resolution is also entirely a ROP and Bandwidth bound task, since PS4 has 87% more pixel throughput ...
Yeah Kaz Yamauchi said last September that GT7 would be coming in 1-2 years, with this year being ruled out already it's all but confirmed to be a 2015 release at this point.
2015 is pretty packed out already.
2016 seems like a likely time slot, 3 years after the last GOW, just like the last 2 games from the series.
Whatever happens I can't wait to see what Santa Monica have been working on.
@Maddens Raiders
Technically Gran Turismo 7 has already been announced, Kaz has spoken about it a lot, but we could get an unveiling of the 1st lot of gameplay for it.
These 2 announcements will probably be something else.
We're also yet to see gameplay of Ratchet & Clank for PS4, hopefully we'll get that some time this month, it says on the PS Blog that the 1st lot of gameplay will be shown this fall, guess that could be any time...
Sony should make their system unique, no need to copy anyone else.
Going with a fully customizable avatar, you make it look how you want would be the best option.
@Yetter, 32MBs is tiny compared to 8192MBs, 32MBs is actually 256X smaller than 8192MBs of RAM in PS4 and that just happens to be where PS4's fast memory access is, not to some tiny pool of memory.
It's clear you have no clue what you're talking about if you're arguing against that point.
GDDR5 is actually about the same in terms of latency compared to DDR3, while also being more flexible because it can be both written to and read from simultaneously u...
