It sold very well, way more than you said and FYI even at 571K that's $34,260,000, you're quoting launch week sales for the game.

The game's probably sold well over a million units by now.
It's been a very popular game, people close to Sony and RAD have said it's very likely to get a sequel, hell even RAD have said they have a lot more planned for the series and 1886 was basically their introduction to the franchise.

@Areswarlord: Not according to the definition of the word. ;)

@Macxb1: As far as consoles go it's the most advanced system, making a comparison with PC is a red herring, not really applicable when I said "console".

Cell is old tech, from 2005/6, the CPU tech in PS4 is more advanced, same goes for the GPU and memory in use in the platform.
Efficiency of design, raw performance, PS4 is much more capable in both regards.

Exactly and until PS4 came out there hadn't been a single APU that used GDDR5.

The OLED is tech that dates back to the 1960's yet it's hardly what you would call the most prevalent technology used in modern TVs, yet most people would consider it one of the most advanced technologies for displays.

It's not obsolete at all, obsolete implies it's not used at all, PS4 is the most popular games console, it's also the most advanced one too date.

It's about as far from being obsolete as you can get!

@GenuineGamer: When I said PS4 could get a "version of Vulkan", I literally meant in the form the API takes, like the language being changed to a similar style to Vulkan, the name isn't really important, the functionality is what I'm getting at.

@mikeslemonade: Going from 1600X900 (900p) to 1920X1080 (1080p) is a 44% difference, so a 20% performance boost isn't going to make up for the deficit in extra hardware on XB1.

Anyone saying that PS4 is going to be left out really doesn't understand it can handle all of the same multicore wide coding benefits XB1 can & PS4 is going to sell more software this generation, it's not being left behind by any 3rd party studios that make multiplats.

If a game is built using DX12 it's easier to port to GNM/X than going from DX11 to PS4's API.

Also if PS4 is the lead platform for multiplats then it's easy for develope...

@Stiffler: Except Capcom didn't have the resources to make SFV before Sony stepped up to help out & fund the game, FYI Capcom were in terrible shape before Sony helped them.

CD were already making RoTTR, past games have sold better on Playstation & the series started life on Playstation.

There's no reason why TR shouldn't be a multiplat, there's a tonne of reasons why SF isn't on other systems.

To the people saying this can't happen look up how last gen API, CPU usage & communication with the GPUs worked, then look at how the current consoles & PC are now designed to work.
Devs have been essentially limiting themselves by nothing but poor optimization & ridiculously inefficient code design.
Frostbite being adapted to run specifically for 8th gen systems can solve all of those issues.
Sony & Microsoft providing API updates & driver supp...

At least one legit source that works at Sqaure Enix has said it's happening within 6 months of the XB1 and 360 game coming out.

If it makes it out in December this year on those platforms then It'll be on PS4 by the end of spring.
It'll probably be out in March next year seeing as the last game was released in March and it won't take long to port from the XB1 version up to PS4 and PC.
The 360 version could be ported over to the PS3 as well.

People also forget that this is a game made only for current gen consoles and modern PCs, the development environment of last gen isn't a consideration that DICE has to deal with.

The use of PRT and other tiling methods for awesome textures (PS4 and AMD GPUs can handle up to 32TB's worth of data with very little GPU overhead), Voxel Based Cone Tracing, physics and other GPGPU features can make one hell of a difference to how a true 8th gen game can look.

Sony internal studios have all been busy for ages working on PS4 games.

Hopefully this means Guerrilla are getting ready to show off their new IP.
Media Molecule too and so many others.

God Sony's E3 2015 show should be awesome!!!!

Edit: Oh I forget to say Gamescom, TGS and PSX should be awesome.

GT7 could be a 2015 release, as could Horizon, TLG and hopefully R&C still is too.

It definitely will be this year, with Gran Turismo, new God of War to unveil.
Guerrilla probably has their new IP to reveal, Media Molecule, Quantic Dream, Sony Bend.
Square Enix has confirmed they have new PS4 games to announce for this year.

Ratchet & Clank is yet to have gameplay shown.
The Last Guardian is heavily rumored.

We'll likely get a new Killzone or maybe a new Resistance game too.
Level 5 has a PS4 exclusiv...

Technically Tomb Raider isn't exclusive to XB1, it's coming to 360 this year and is now being heavily rumored as a Spring release for PS4 next year, which probably means it's also going to PC around that time and maybe PS3 also.

Fable Legends is also releasing on PC, which negates it's exclusive status too.

Forza 6 and Halo 5 should be good for the holidays, but Microsoft needs to do more next year for the earlier part of the year, before the ...

Hopefully this year should be big on exclusive games for all 3 platform holders.

Sony definitely has a bunch of stuff that's been in development for ages. Hopefully it's the year Guerrilla shows off Horizon (that should be a huge highlight), Gran Turismo should finally be unveiled for PS4, maybe even a 2015 release, new Ratchet & Clank later this year, Bend's new IP, new God of War, amongst other things.

I feel it in my bones that this is the ...

I can't say I agree with you console sales comment, when AMD shipped what must have been close to 30 million SOCs for Sony and Microsoft last year, yet they maybe shipped half that in discrete GPUs, the console market has to be worth a fair bit of cash too them.

NVidia's tiny as far as Margin's go was never going to be the same as AMD's, simply because AMD always took a smaller margin on their products compared to NVidia.
Given that Nvidia doesn't ...

It's Star Wars day on May the 4th, so maybe Dice or EA will have an event to show off some actual gameplay for the game.

Failing that I guess this would be EA's big title to focus on at E3 this year.

I can believe that what we saw was an in-engine, real time render from a decent rig PC, but consoles should be able to get pretty close to that if DICE optimizes the game enough.

Building this game with only current gen consoles and PC in...

Technically it was GT5 that had a knock on effect in release dates for later GT games coming later.

PD has already said they built their engine for GT6 with GT7 in mind and that already runs natively on the PS4.
GT7 isn't really taking longer than expected, it's likely in line with how things should be. We should likely see the game at E3 this year, with either a holiday 2015 release date or one in 2016 some time.

4071d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

Polyphony Digital probably began developing GT7 alongside GT6, because they were likely one of the 1st studios to be shown the system in any kind of complete state.

Most likely it will get a proper reveal at E3, with either a holiday 2015 or sometime in 2016 release date.
PD already has their engine, they have said everything is already running natively on the PS4, so the former is most likely.

Awesome times for gamers!
