I can't understand the absurdity of a console bias, allow me to explain. I believe that a games machine is only as good as the game you are playing on it. When I'm playing Halo my 360 it is awesome. For UC2 my PS3 can't be beat asnd nothing touches Mario Galaxy 2 on my Wii. They are games machines designed primarily to play games (ignore the other features, you bought them to play games after all). Take away the game and what do you have? a lifeless lump of electronics. This is wh...
I get loads of games on launch day but I've never waited in line. I just pre order at amazon. In fact the last game I waited in line for was starfox and that was 1993! Ive got Reach limited edition on preorder and quite a few other future releases too. I dont understand this waiting in line business. I got my 360 on launch day no fuss, got UC2 no fuss, got my Wii no fuss, will get reach no fuss and no doubt i'll eventually have GT5 and F1 too and with no fuss. Is it possible to pick u...
Can anyone let me know. I have a 60gb launch machine but its japanese (and i'm in the uk), still multi region though (except if you want bc). If i were to put that on ebay can i expect more for it for that reason? Im seriously thinking of gettin a slim and transfering the files in case it croaks. Im really really kind to it and dont smoke near it and it has its box and jap till reciept. I know its off topic but the thought came up to ask considering the posts that've come up.
That all black one is a 20gb launch machine from Japan. I maybe wrong but I dont think it was sold in Europe or the US.
I'm looking forward to this but what the hell has happened to Virtua Fighter? Number 5 is still played on my PS3 and its years old. Dead or Alive 4 I have too but its not played as much because I havent got joysticks for the 360. Virtua Fighter was one of my favourite games until SFIV arrived... Hope Sega brings it back with no.6 soon... Street Fighter vs Virtua may not actually be that bad. They'd have to do something with Fire balls though the Capcom boys would have a big advantage....
Yes I have seen how he acts and its bloody hilarious. Id feel no shame if I too was a billionaire :)... Seriously would you give a s##t at what people thought of you?
edit: Have you ever noticed how billionaires don't dress the part. I'm no fashionista but that shirt and trousers combo aint from saville row. The guy genuinely doesn't give a s##t and who can blame him. He loves his company and he's made billions from it. I'd feel like I was in Led Zeppel...
Me too... In fact if I was worth several billion you wouldn't be able to wipe the smile off of my face. In that respect Steve Balmer is totally dignified in the way he behaves. Is there any other exec within the gaming industry that comes even close to him in wealth? The only one I can think of is Hiroshi Yamauchi but he's retired.
Gotta agree with Nugundam0079 and others around here, I don't get how a hardcore gamer can identify with one machine. I've enjoyed Playstation games since I first got Ridge Racer in late '94. I've been a fan ever since but even then I realised that no matter how good my playstation was it wouldn't play Virtua Fighter because for that I needed a pesky Saturn! Even today they still haven't managed to make it play Halo or Gears or that Silly Mario!!! Oh well, Its my fault...
Bravo for totally missing the point of what I wrote Officer General. Re-read my post and you'll find I used GTA4 simply as a means to point out how futile his argument was. I dont get how people can feel so passionate about a console that they have to attack its nearest market opposition like its in defence of their mother! RDR and GTA4 are great games regardless of what machine they are played on. Call me a fanboy if you wish but you can check my profile and find my gamer tags (albeit on...
Not that I even give a crap but your moronic warblings make me point this out. GTA 4 doesn't it run at a lower res on PS3? add to that RDR and maybe some others, I'm not sure but Its never bothered me as much as it bothers you. You care too much about this. There are other things in life to get as concerned about like world hunger, the economy are we killing our planet?. Go out and find some friends and learn to appreciate these things and leave gaming for the rest of us to enjoy. Its...
Its generally accepted that the 360 is easier to code for but even the 360 and PS3 share a power pc based CPU. As I understand it the 360 simply has a more straight forward design that lends itself to already proven techniques. Its not as simple as it being 95% similar. Judging by my experience I buy most multiplats (except RE5 because of the demos awful screen tearing and SF4 because I had sicks for Virtua Fighter already) on 360 and enjoy all exclusives on my PS3 (and exclusives on 360 too)...
Unchartered 2 is the best looking game I've seen on a console this gen but when I play it do I think its a generation apart from anything on my 360?...no. People need to put things in perspective. It isn't like this game can not be done because that is utter horse crap. Could it look the same?...I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure it would still look good regardless. People need to drop this 'da power of cell' crap and lay more credit at the feet of the creators. UC2 triu...
Your first comment regarding the bad actor in a good movie I totally agree with and is probably the reason why I haven't played right through a jrpg in almost ten years. I loved FFvii and viii an ix but I completed x and felt cold. Maybe i'd grown up and my tastes had changed or maybe it was the voice acting. Regarding MGS being the best franchise...I would have agreed after MGS 3 but not after MGS 4... Kojima went so far up his own arse on that one it was unbelievable... at least in ...
Never played this but after reading many of the comments I've decided to get a copy. Despite playing 'Demons Soul' (which I dont class as a JRPG in the traditional sense) the last 'jrpg' I played to the end was Final fantasy x. I played a little of xii and Dragon quest 8 but I've managed to ignore xiii thus far. My interest is buoyed by the comments regarding the story and the sad ending... no spoilers please.
As a gamer I can't see what there is to get upset about as long as they are still making games it doesn't matter, no matter what platform they are on. I don't get this romantic vision people have of the gaming industry where Loyalty is something based on love or something. Seriously some people just take it too far. It is a business after all. I can understand being disheartened if you were a corperate bigwig and saw a company breaking away as being bad for business but some peopl...
Wow or Woo. Woe just doesn't make sense in this context. Awesome journalism.
I get where your going with your point about rehashes and such but theres just one point i'd like to make regarding the difference between core and casual gamers. You mentioned Heavy Rain as opposed to COD and Halo. I'm lucky enough to have all those games and my girlfriend who will play a game very rarely actually enjoys Heavy Rain (and she probably thinks 360 games work on a ps3 too) I've also seen her pick up lumines on the psp. Her other pasttime is wearing the headset to talk...
I agree but I think glasses are a barrier. It wouldn't matter if they were cheap but they aren't and there isn't a standard set of glasses for all 3d displays. I cant go and grab a pair i got from the cinema and expect them to work.
One of the first places I saw a Plasma TV was is a pub in 1996 watching england play in the european championships. They cost thousands and barely anyone could afford one but there wasn't this problem of having to wear glasses to see it bu...
It'll come pretty quick when your typical can't distinguish a scart lead from a composite lead member of public walks into an electronics shop, enqires about a 3dtv and then looks at the 3ds and decides to wait for a bigger version of that instead. They'll know that tech moves on. 3Dtvs wont sell untill they dont have glasses. The manufacturers will realise this and when they do glassless 3d will happen quickly.
In my mind games are alot cheaper today. In the early to mid nineties I would hassle my parents and save all the money I had forimported games because anyone from the UK who like games back then will tell you PAL games ran badly. This included the first playstation and saturn, ps2, and to a lesser extent gamecube. The Xbox was the only machine where it had a 60hz option. Since then I ve found gaming to be cheaper and easier because most games or machines appear in europe around the same time ...
