Totally agree. Never watch films on my ps3 or 360 and never have. The only blu ray Ive played on it is the first one I got and that was Casino Royale,a gift from sony for signing up for uk psn before the uk launch (they sent the disc despite me owning a japanese machine). There are two more BD players in my house now and they are cheap everywhere. Plus I can stream anything from my PC throughout the house. Blu ray players are cheap, lots of households have PCs so I hope that MS and Sony dont ...
I liked his comments because they were anti fanboy. Rather than shout PS3 is the best he just said gaming was the best (which it is). That appeals to people who own more than one console or are fortunate enough to have not become emotionally attached (in a bad way) to a gaming device. Unfortunately in the UK we don't have a Kevin Butler.
I think Nintendo used the Wii as a test bed for motion controls. They wanted to stand out from the PS3/360 and using a slightly updated Gamecube tech enabled them to do that cheaply and risk free. Nintendo would have weihed up the options, high tech and expensive but risk losing against Sony again or cheap and different? It was a no brainer. The follow up to the Wii will be mega powerful.
The areas in some of the playable sections looked ropy but I think in the cut scenes Yakuza 3 has some of the best facial animations. At the end of the day when a games fun you quickly forget about the graphics. It sounds cliched but creating a believable and immersive world isnt down to looks or even realism. Mario 64 is waaaaaay more immersive than some (no game mentioned to avoid fanboy slappy fight) so called blockbusters that have come out this gen. If a game is good enough the graphics ...
I've yet to play an MMO so can't really imagine this being a must buy for me. Greatest game of all time? I can't put my finger on what I consider to be the greatest game of all time but here are some games that I remember playing obsessively for a long time to get as much from them as possible,in chronological order. Mario World, Zelda 3, Wipeout 2097 (finest Wipeout there is), Wave Race 64(amazing racing game), Zelda Oot and Majoras Mask, Gran Turismo, GP Legends(makes GT and For...
Aint nowt worse than bloomin southerners! :)
I know. Europe has many languages and is culturally diverse. By addressing Europeans they are addressing people from Sweden, France, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Spain and on... All different languages and all culturally different. I'm from the UK, yorkshire to be specific. We see ourselves as different to people in lancashire! (bordering county) never mind down south in London. To put it in perspective could anyone in the US imagine being generalised if every state had its own language, diff...
From someone who owns all three current gen consoles and occasionally games on a PC reading any fanboy article or comment can be cringe worthy. Personally I feel a console is only as good as the game you are playing on it. A fanboy to me is someone who deep down doesn't really enjoy gaming but instead seeks some emotional attachment to a game console or corperation as a way of compensating for things they lack in everyday life. Something like that anyway. Games are fun, end of.
At the time it was absolutely incredible and to me the time my brothers and I turned on our imported playstation for the first time and saw this is probably my personal biggest moment in gaming. It was such a leap at the time. Not so much the image quality but the fact that it moved at a constant and smooth 30 fps. Im 30 and I seriously doubt the writer is old enough to appreciate what this game did when it became available in late 1994. GT was 3 years away. Consider this. The best pc at the ...
I dont think anyone has said they support piracy I'm just highlighting consequences for it. My point is is that Sony are removin a feature. MS banning a console is totally different because they are banning machines that can play pirated games. My PS3 can't play pirated games despite having the Linux feature. Thats besides the point. It isn't about supporting piracy its about removing facilities that honest. Honest owners should not have to suffer. Sony should patch it, whatever because as I ...
I think PC gaming is dying because since the HD era the consoles (except for a few pieces of software) have given good graphics that people can comfortably enjoy in there living room (i know you can run a pc through a hdtv but many dont) The last time I had a truly specced out gaming PC was 2005. Since the 360 and PS3 I haven't really bothered. Its an open dirty secret. Piracy drove sales of the first ps and sales of the ps2 shot up after that was hacked. Look at the sales of the biggest sell...
NaiNaiNai is right and you and many others should take it on board. Sony shouldn't remove a feature that they provided when I and many purchased it. GeoHot maybe a hacker but Sony created the security loophole and they should patch it. I like PS3, I like 360, hell I just like games but people shouldn't defend a company when they aren't acting in your interests. By all means combat piracy but this isn't the way. Sony should patch it and stand up for the consumer. If they feel they can take awa...
Sad truth is if the PS3 became home to loads of pirated software hard ware sales would increase. 100+ million PS1s 100+ million PS2s. Think of a game like GT3. Sold 10+million. Just 10+million with an install base that huge. I bet there are 20 million copies of that game in circulation.
I've never used linux but the feature is on my launch Jap PS3. I think Sony are lucky that it is such an underused feature because what they are essentially doing is changing the avaialable features for...
I bet Bungie is re-making Oni.
Yes but Halo 3 and any other game played with a pad is different. You can move your arms and legs at any speed you want. Imagine that 100 millisecs in a game that requires fast hand movement (like a fighting game where there maybe a combination of fast moves), eventually the lag will catch up. Where as on Halo 3 or anything else for that matter is governed by how much you can move that target reticule around the screen. Essentially we are un shackled with motion control. If you play Wii boxin...
New Perfect Dark at e3 I'm sure of it. Rare have been quiet and I bet it has something to do with Natal. The reason why this is out now maybe is just to get people up for Perfect Dark again. Out of curiosty I played Zero the otherday (first time since january 2006! according to the 360 dashboard) and by god its aged badly. I remember it being ok at launch but not up to PGR3 but that game looks terrible now.
I agree with all points above just want to add another though. I think reviewers should place more emphasis on level design and storytellin. These are the things that I think should be addressed in a sequel. Take UC2, in UC3 I don't want them to f'up the game mechanic one bit because its fine as it is. Just take Drake on a different journey and the gameplay will speak for itself. Same goes for God of War 3, even Gears of War 3. To look at it another way I want Halo to return to the epicness o...
I agree to a certain extent as some games are so good innovation doesn't really matter because they do what they do so well for instance UC2 doesn't really innovate but is still excellent. But some games show their lack of innovation when they aren't so good. At the end of the day it only matters whether its fun or not. If its not so fun a reviewer may begin to think 'i've been here before' or 'this feels tired'. Personally in GOW3 I want more, bigger and better and that would be enough to ma...
murderdolls wrote:I just really want to see a Zelda game take advantage of 360 or PS3's hardware. Hopefully next generation =/
I'm amazed some disagreed! Of course never on a Sony Console but come on how can any one disagree with that last part?
Exactly. Glassless 3d is too expensive a proposition now for companies to even attempt to make it mass market but maybe that will change if (and im pretty sure it will) the 3ds takes off big time. Your average member of public will look at that and expect it in the home. Manufacturers will really push to get glassless 3d into homes. Imagine how long DVD would have been expensive for if it wasn't in the PS2 or BD in the PS3. Im sur BD players would still be very expensive if the ps3 didnt ...
