Only N4G community would vote for this rumor to be "hopefully" true. You guys are crazy. 16 million units with a "Holiday 2013" release already confirmed is impossible on so many levels. Nintendo's Wii U actually outsold the PS3/360's launch sales with 3.06 million units, the 3DS sold 4.3 million units at launch and the PS2 never came close to shipping or selling more than 4 million units in a one to two month window.
Even if they mean Sony's f...
Demon Souls is great but its likely that it hasn't moved many systems lets be honest here. And you're right that no one could predict Brain Age/Wii Fit would be a success but since those games have much more broad appeal than others it would be much more reasonable to think they would be pre-release.
Soul Sacrifice will not be a "run-away" hit. It could be amazing, it could be the best game in years for all we know but it won't be a huge hit, especially ...
Nintendo isn't famous for dropping price on hardware 3 months after launch, that's a flawed view entirely.
They dropped the price of the 3DS four months after launch.
They waited 7 months to cut GameCube's price, 1 year to cut DS's price, like 5 years to cut DS Lite's price, 3 years to cut Wii's price and like 3 years to cut DSi's price.
good news at first but then you remember it still has zero system selling games coming out anytime soon and by this math it may still have sold half of what the 3DS sold during the same week.
What does that have to do with anything I said? I suppose you're saying some of the IPs I mentioned as system sellers are "over-rated" and that's cool that you think that but its a bit irrelevant since I'm discussing the type of system sellers a particular platform needs and how Soul Sacrifice, as good as it may be, probably isn't that system seller.
To be fair your first ten minutes of those older games were spent in introductionary parts of the game that were intended to set an epic feel.
This demo has to show you how it plays and nothing else. Of course a downloadable demo in 2013 won't give you the same impression as the first few minutes of a full retail game you bought in 1997.
I have no interest in this game whatsoever though and I didn't really like the demo but I've never really enjoy...
VentureBeat is actually pretty major.
Casual should not be used as a negative in all situations.
Mohang can barely support the PC version, clearly 4J studios is who should be answering this question.
I don't understand why it wouldn't come to the Wii U later. I mean, I guess its got a low install base now but give it sometime and it makes a lot of sense. Off-TV, touch screen allows more item mapping, etc.
What Mon Hun? It likely isn't coming to the Vita anytime soon.
Oh c'mon people. Could it be a great game? Yes. Could it even be GOTY material? Why not?
But turn around the Vita's poor sales? Maybe in Japan for a small amount of time, but this game will be met with crickets in NA/EU. I'm sorry, its way too niche. Since when has a 'robust magic system' been the reason a game sold loads of systems?
Keep expectations in check folks. Maybe this game could push another 100k units in Japan by itself but long...
No matter how right you may be, 99% of consumers just see the $250-$300 price and walk away. Doesn't matter what content is packed in, especially if none of it is system selling.
Unless Sony cuts the price, does something really good about the memory card situation (at least give a 4GB with each unit) and some great, system selling first party exclusives that NEVER appear on PS3/PS4 then it won't be easy to say it isn't dead.
If the Vita repeats its 2011 sales that means it could likely have a 45 million (3DS) to 7 million (Vita) gap by the time 2013 ends. Damn!
Its sold north of 120k, so not amazing but not exactly bad. Good enough to get Assassin's Creed IV on Wii U anyhow
@ CapsLocke
Thank you for your irrelevant contribution
17 ppl agree with you shows 17 ppl didn't even read the link.
Why not Wii U? Its getting the DLC, so I see no reason why not
Good. It should be marketed for everyone and try its best to alienate any audiences.
Its sad that even with a lot of stores cutting the price the Vita barely passed 10k. I'm willing to bet it might barely pass 30k next week (the week of the official drop) and be back to sub-10k numbers by the end of March.
It'd be stupid. With a price likely closer to $500 than it is $400 these systems would sell like 2-3 million tops worldwide and then collect dust on store shelves. The same can be said about the Wii U right now and would be said if a similar situation played out for the new Xbox. 16 million units is not even remotely a realistic number and it won't happen.
