"Getting back to the BioShock franchise, I probably played about 25% of BioShock and exactly 0% of BioShock 2.

Are you judging me? It's easy to see why you might."

Not from those. Bioshock 2 is utter BS - well, other than the DLC like Minerva's Den, which is just enjoyable, not crucial. The original is great to a point, but it seems like they, uh... felt like they needed to justify the price after the "golf club" scene was over and...

"In the opening scene, these two characters are talking to each other and, as you can see, the guy is not happy with the fact that the woman is not rowing with him.

But how could she? There’s only one pair of oars."

FINISH! THE! GAME!!!!!

I love this fight - last generation, we had a battle between console fans above all else. This generation, let's just leave the battle with AMD and Nvidia, marvel at how stupidly awesome it is, and play some mother flipping games.

If we're thinking "next-gen" for the WiiU, the loading times are still not great, but hey, that's a huge improvement over what it used to be, right? It's almost like the console's ready for a retail release now!

I loved the game, but I do see the point with the gameplay and AI. Infinite does the same thing that Bioshock did - it puts most of the emphasis on story, atmosphere, voice acting, and art, which is all amazing. But at some point, you do find yourself shooting a lot of dudes, and a couple times I was like "Alright, I get it, let's move on with the plot already!" Much in the same way that I understood that the somewhat banal shooting in Spec Ops was part of its critique on the ge...

Oh man, he got me good. By the "No Multiplayer" part, I was laughing my butt off. Cheers, mate.

Just beat Infinite two days ago, instantly one of my favorite endings of all time.

"Consider Groove Coaster, or Space Invaders Extreme. If there is one thing Square Enix desperately needs that its rivals all have right now is a fresh spirit of innovation and creativity. I would expect Matsuda to bring that into the company."

ALL MY YES. Taito was my favorite game company for a while when Space Invaders Extreme/Infinity Gene and Groove Coaster came out. They were focused, innovative, and simple games, made efficiently, done with a ton of style. I w...

I'm hoping they're expanding Crimson Dragon (aka Project Draco) and making it a full-blown Panzer Dragoon, now multiplatform since Kinect is only marginally functional. That would be awesome. Or just scrap it and make another Panzer Dragoon :)

I can roll with that, @MacDonagh, but Nintendo did have a precedent for not doing that until now. The closest they got on home consoles was putting "Super" before Nintendo, but that actually defines a difference between the two: the hardware was substantially different, as was evident in their first Mario release for the system.

The sudden shift in naming conventions underlies a much bigger amount of risk-aversion in the *design* of the console. Each new console fro...

Nintendo (a company who designed a console so risk-averse that even its title is nigh indistinguishable from its money-printing predecessor) failed to make a console distinguishable from one released in 2006. That's what happened, and that's why stuff like this poster exists.

Sure, there's always a bit of "people are stupid" behind every tech misperception, but there's also testing for stuff like that... Focus testing which should have let Nintendo k...

The writer's making a silly assumption.

The writer assumes, from the quotes, that QD would automatically make more money if Sony didn't fund them and they could sell on other platforms. Therefore, when QD says they'll stay with Sony as a publisher, despite being able to sell more on more platforms, he *thinks* that means they're some Sony loyalists or something.

What the writer doesn't get is that Quantic Dream's games cost so freaking...

I love the Reddit thread this is a part of!

Question: "Would you ever develop another Xbox timed-exclusive?"

Phil Fish: "no."

Deep Silver. That's what's wrong with it.

Although, knowing them, the game will have absolutely nothing to do with this trailer, so maybe I'll be dead wrong and this will be awesome!

I remember when Volition made games like Freespace 2... you poor guys. Who's left from that original team? Well... at least a small group of them, because they would still COMMIT MURDER TO MAKE FREESPACE 3:

These are all hilarious! I thought I was, as Jeff kinda illustrated, a sexist move since there inevitably wouldn't be one for male characters, but nope. It's just fun.

If it really means that streaming/sharing playthroughs and highlights is that much easier, I'll probably use it, but not on the PS4.

See, I don't have the kind of cash to buy a new console out of the gate, nor do I trust any of these guys to do it right anymore (I'd still pick Sony above the rest, but meh). If I can check out what people are doing on the PS4 easily, it'll help me figure out when the purchase of a new console leads to new gameplay experiences,...

Considering the indie-friendly venue, that is a possibility. I'm hoping it's a smaller project that allows some of the devs who slave over WoW expansions to break out of their shells and have fun. That could only mean great things for gamers, IMO.

It had to be done!

It's too bad Nintendo's not betting the house on this and making a full-fledged Pokemon title, instead of another Rumble. If I could walk around in some giant world with a story, where the player him/herself would be integrated into the plot and beaming action figures of Pokemon into the game through some sort of Tier 1/2/3 system, I'd be broke, and Nintendo would be even more flush with cash.

But that would be a good decision. ...

Lord British jumps in on the futility of the console business! Has there ever been a bigger authority? I mean, the guy probably gleaned it from the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom.

Seriously, I'd rather have Garriott's Ultima 1 future come true - you fight with swords, crossbows, there are castles and kings, and the royal Vendor of Hovercars and Rocketships. Medieval Star Wars is way better than a giant cramped trailer-city in an uncaring future, where we make money by the l...
