Hey, the original had me hooked for minutes, so things are looking up!

I really tend to like games running at 60fps, especially when they're ones that require even the smallest amount of twitchy skill to them. That's why I'll take Devil May Cry 3 over the new DmC any day, for example. Call it a bias I developed from starting out on NES and SNES, where most games ran at 60... obviously not Star Fox.

However, Super Mario 3D Land recently proved me wrong about my preferences. The design trumped the framerate, I hardly cared. But that wa...

Seems as if they just don't like the gameplay, it just isn't diverse enough for them. The way they describe the problems seems like a bitter commentary on life and survival more than a critique of the gameplay at first, but meh. It seems like they want a payoff in a bleaker game.

Difficult but fun... well, Edge gave Spelunky a 9 back in the day, but FTL got a 7. They seem to want consistency in scoring, considering the reviews are marked as by "Edge Staff" and not one person, so I'm wondering what their actual reasoning is on Don't Starve.

Ah, relativism. See, if that game were licensed from a well-loved sci-fi franchise and sold for sixty bucks, it would totally put that in perspective.

At first I'm all like "Great, someone Kickstarted an anime-inspired strategy game. Because those aren't being made at all! :P" But then I saw it in action - it really is both grid-based and real-time! It looks absolutely TWEWY-level bat-crap insane, and I'm excited!

I see controllers and playground stuff. I'm expecting a new "center for gaming," if you catch my drift, for Android, browsers, and Google TV, using your existing Google account, and a first-party controller that connects with phones via mini-USB and PC/Google TV via USB. There had better be some instant compatibility with previously-released games.

Not a Google box. That would be dumb. Enhance Google TV and blur the lines between Google-supported devices. That w...

It all sounds way, way too loud and bro-tastic from the trailer. What I loved about those games was the atmosphere, and if every single stage is full of DUN DUN DUN! DUN DUN! music, they've thrown away one of the most distinguishable things about AW and FB...

I know what they're trying to do, but if I hit the up arrow and it takes half a second before the character jumps, there's an issue with your jumping-based game. Meat Boy has the same issue. That's why Super Meat Boy wasn't a browser-based Flash game, and I think the genre shouldn't look back.

Man, if I had the agency to just cruise the Ring in real life, I'd be nowhere near N4G right now!

Considering it doesn't look like she gathered a lot of intel from within the industry (something we haven't already heard), I don't get it either.

The real trouble with the first video is that it's far too basic. She tells the stories of how these games fit the damsel in distress trope (or cliché) but just doesn't get deep enough into the "why," she barely scrapes the "what." If you've got such a budget to get this done, there has to be someone you could talk to about why Fox was subbed in for Crystal. Some offhand comment someone heard in a board room or something, not just "She was female, and...

Keep in mind that E3 demos often put a thorn in the sides of developers - it's not easy trying to make a "vertical slice" of your game when you'd much rather plan it out the way you want. Maybe you won't get a software-focused presentation, but you might get a more software-driven company out of this.

Look, I'm not an unwavering Nintendo fan, nor do I ever plan on getting a Wii U until they can back it up with a library of good games (hint: there isn't one yet), but I'm gonna slightly disagree with the author here. His argument is that Nintendo's too embarrassed to present their stuff in front of Sony and Microsoft. I don't think that's it - there are a couple of other factors going on here.

The 3DS, as he lauds in the article, isn't dead yet. ...

Finally! Finally!!! The first-person Ghostbusters game we've all been waiting for!

You can just hand someone a book. So, there shouldn't have been authors since the Gutenberg Press, then, right?

When you invest 200 million dollars, you factor in the fact that each gamer has the right to sell his or her property first. Part of your investment. If you don't make a good return on it, that is your fault. You don't just wish away fairness in commerce to even the odds.

So be frugal. Maybe don't mo-cap that horse. Maybe don't t...

I think what you mean to say is "Companies who attach stories to their games should follow through with the story part of the deal." Halo 4, for example, was touted as advancing the Halo world in a new direction, but what we got was more of the same enemies and a dumb villain instead- it was more of an excuse to have another Halo than a compelling play. Call of Duty hams it up a bit in some scenes and set pieces, but there isn't really a compelling story, it's just shooty-ba...

I'd love to see Resonance of Fate. On the actiony side, Dragon's Dogma would be an easy pick considering they have a followup.

@CBaoth, ask Richard Garriott what EA did to Ultima 9 to maximize profit elsewhere. Check out the fight between Activision and Zampella/Ward over Call of Duty. Experience the amount of marketing risk-aversion Ken Levine had to compromise with just to get his game out there. See what EA coerced Maxis into doing with the beloved SimCity franchise.
