"Go on, think for a moment: what was the last game you played the passed the Bechdel Test? I’ll admit it; I’m stumped."

Fire Emblem: Awakening. If you write about games, this should be a thing you already have played. It's already a friggin' seminal work in the games field.

Personally, I've found the first two Tropes vs. Women episodes as extremely shallow. They're not much more than lists, and this whole thing as a database, somethi...

Kinect One's just the name of the camera, methinks. That doesn't mean we won't see more Kinect silliness, but I don't think we'll get a game called Kinect One.

Are we sure about Gears? Isn't Epic moving on to some new franchise... no... probably not... probably more Gears retreading.

LOL @ Perfect Dark! Do you think Rare's been endowed with the lion's share of MS staff to reboot four freaking titles? That's to say nothing o...

OMG, when they mentioned Legend of the Guardians I cracked up. Thanks for that!

Elite, I have a problem. I think I just "realzied" all over your post. I'm so sorry.

Still, all this talk about "You can't buy talent" isn't true. You can. It's called employment. However, you can buy all that talent and squander it - that's called mismanagement.

Let's see if MS practices what it preaches. I'm guessing not, because there's already a source, from the beginning of the month, that says MS is si...

It's against the First Sale Doctrine, which has been completely skirted around in various industries by classifying products as "services" and not "owned" products. Even those games which take place entirely offline - you've paid for a license for the service now, so long as you've got any DRM protecting it. If that DRM server shuts down and you've got no way to play the game, tough tamales. It's a service, and it ended.

This has been e...

Oh, I have it. I got stuck on Artorias. Granted, I'm under-leveled as hell. The guy is ridiculously fast. Usually I find an exploitable pattern, but wow.

Right. It's a DLC plan, not on-disc or day-one, with an option to buy into the hype quite early. Hopefully, the preorders keep ND a little more invested in the creation of that DLC post-release.

The best time ever to play a Souls game is on Halloween! Forget the Saw movies or whatever. I hope this gives me a reason to do that again!

(well, Artorias of the Abyss still should... *whines* but it's so hard!!!!)

Whew! I don't even know what's in the 3DS holiday lineup yet (as they typically announce that stuff at E3, but hey, they're not exactly going to *be* there... but there will be Directs...); you must have some amazing inside sources there, Mika! I guess it's looking grim...?

This July, I'm just staring at Shin Megami Tensei 4. That'll take up a good portion of my time once I finally complete Fire Emblem.

Oh, I'm sure we'll see Robotnik. They're trying to sell it to a new audience, it seems, and I'm sure that'll be the finale. This seems rather early so far.

I really like how this looks - it's exactly what a followup to Generations should play like, with an emphasis on what made the 2D gameplay good, but 3D-ified in a way that's informed much more on Mario Galaxy, or even Mario 3D Land, than Sega's original "Gotta go fast" Adventure 3D...

Yeah, it's nice to see him just talk about stuff instead of following a G4-penned teen-bro-pandering teleprompter script. :)

"A whole lot of nothing!" "Let E3 be the final judge." Right. I think, on both fronts, we don't have enough information. Microsoft failed horribly, but he's right - I liked what Sony had to say during their reveal, but I'm not going to be sold on a prettier shooter, some non-gameplay footage of an Infamous sequel, or a prototype mockup video of what a Capcom Dark Souls attempt might look like.

Sony's reveal was way better than what Microsof...

They did make customers wait for years without information back in the day, but the problem isn't that we're in "these times." The problem is their second thing - they used to fulfill and exceed expectations with their older games, with simpler systems, relatable characters, really nice art direction, and when you don't deliver on that *while* treating your games like the Next Big Thing, you lose. I hope the new CEO focuses on the expectations part.

So long as people play it, sure! I don't think, of the many Molyneux disappointments out there, that this will be one of them - the guy's a seasoned god game creator. The one issue I could see is poor microtransaction management... hopefully it's fair stuff.

True, anywhere else than the US at the moment. The Playstation brand is a little bigger with gamers right now, but that's going to be amplified astronomically if the reveals are anything to go on.

Here's a problem with Xbox's current strategy: they're banking on old franchises. Short-term, maybe that nets you some cash. Long-term, though, what if those franchises stagnate and become niche? Then you're left with the newer games taking them over sales-wise. ...

Brand recognition as an argument seems dumb... Until you realize they're targeting only gamers that buy the annual Madden, FIFA, or CoD each year.

Xbone may win over some key target demographics which are totally not us. Any of us. So long as they have a cheap system (hehe, they won't. They've already lost the TV War to Google).
