Exactly, the build they're using in the BETA is 3 to 4 weeks old. I'll be loving BF3 on day one with 8 new maps to play. I'll even play Metro in Conquest mode, just to see what that's all about.
Expectations for BETAs should always be low. Mine were, and it's exceeded them.

This article is a marketing failure. Yes there are bugs, it's a BETA, and I expected them. On the other hand, I am loving the gameplay, it's a major leap from BF2, and I appreciate it both in it's ambition and it's execution. The only thing the BETA did was give me a chance to sharpen up my skills, and make me even more excited to play the full game.
People who feel the beta wasn't polished enough are stupid, it's not supposed to be polished.

PC gamer here. Also BF player since 1942's first release.
It doesn't surprise me that this game doesn't appeal to the lowest common denominator. It's a game of finesse, teamwork and skill. Something that most consolers are wholly unfamiliar with.

My screen tearing was fixed by enabling vertical sync. And I'm getting 50-60 FPS at high settings...

Welcome to rush mode, Flavor, the maps are more linear, it's intentional.

I had a hard time getting into metro at first, because I'm more of a Conquest player, but after a few hours playing, I was really loving the map, the mode and BF3 in general.

try the different modes of BF3 before you answer. BF3 has team death match, with no vehicles and smaller maps, it may just outdo Call of Duty in close quarters twitch play.
You won't know until it's released, so don't be so sure of yourself.
BF3 also has TDM on smaller maps. Whether you prefer BF3's conquest mode or CoD's DM mode, you can get that from BF3.
