Not sure if using Gears as the picture is an offering of praise to the series narrative or a warning of how not to do it.
Gears' narrative is the perfect example of a great game story going ridiculously bad. The commercial elicited more emotion than any moment in the actual game, including when spoiler spoiler.
Gears 3 narrative was horrible, it was the end of human existence and they never conveyed a real sense of nigh hopeless desperation.
We all win if Nintendo's console efforts fail, then everyone can get Nintendo exclusives...
with better graphics and online too.
Oh man, just thinking of a PS4/PC/720 Metroid and Zelda makes me happy. I used wish Nintendo consoles all the best (although haven't had one since N64) but now I'm thinking FAIL Wii U fail!
I don't think Wii U is a great console, I think it lacks games, power, and 3rd party support.
Nor do I think the screen controller adds much to gaming.
I think Wii U is lacking at it's current price and probably worth it at $200.
Activision should know better, Nintendo fans buy Nintendo games for the Nintendo exclusives only.
The people asking for Blops II were probably just too hungry for a new system and jumped into buying a Wii U prematurely and were hoping it would LOOK/RUN BETTER on Wii U, which it didn't.
For a guys that 'retired' from game development, he can't seem to shut up about it.
You don't need hollywood actors to have good acting in a game.
There's millions of failed but very talented actors. Use them and save money.
MS will tout Kinect 2's "features" to both core and casuals - pay the media to make it sound like the most exciting thing in the world
then 2 months after people buy it they'll never use it because it doesn't do any of the things advertised.
No they shouldn't have, The February reveal was perfectly timed. Gamers have been salivating for some next-gen news, we wanted it last E3.
Also, because they were alone in their reveal know one could negatively compare them to others.
We're the majority of console gamers and industry revenue.
PS3and 360 sales combined destroy Wii sales and then there's also PC core gamers.
The casuals have already moved onto their phones, tablets, and facebook games which are often free not $50 and probably equally or more satisfying to them.
Sure it will play 3rd party games but seemingly at a lower graphical level and provides few exclusives and incidentally reasons for a co...
I remember the grain glitch and how Crytek never fixed it.
That being said I haven't reviewed Crysis 3 on metacritic because I'm done with Crytek games. I paid $60 for Crysis 2 on launch day and the thing was broken and they never fixed it. They totally f'd me last time.
I agree with the tittle.
MS of late seems more focused on getting non-gamers to buy their 'game machine' for non-gaming purposes.
No risks were taken with Crysis 3s SP or multiplayer. It's an average decent game with nice graphics on PC.
Don't lose your job, not only will you be feeling the financial pressure, your game system might be cut off.
I think subscriptions for a game console is a bad, it will essentially just be an increase in Live Gold pricing plus cable fees.
One thing I know about MS is that their pricing is always terrible (movies, music, DLC, is always more expensive on Live over PSN, Surface is great but way overpriced, 360 accessories are over priced, etc.)
Those things are so disgusting, the look like walking STDs.
Perfect for eliciting fear and repulsion, well done.
And no one cares.
My one wish is that both offer free online MP. Even if it's bare bones at least allow people to access both SP and MP portions of a game they purchased at full price.
If they want to sell SP and MP separate that's fine but what MS somehow managed to pull off this gen (restricting game content already purchased with their own additional charges which I call Live tax) is complete BS.
I hope gamers vote against pay to play MP with their dollars. I sinc...
Try playing an immersive open world game on Super Nintendo. Graphics and gameplay are necessarily dependent on each other. Both are important.
One thing MS could counter with is a superior GPU.
Should be interesting to see the other shoe drop.
I know I'll get a bunch of disagrees for saying this but I'm very happy Sony ditched BC and spent the money on better NEXT-GEN functionality and performance.
Keep you PS3s for the odd time you feel like playing last gen games.
Great list except for Halo "The Library". That was the worst level in the game and one of the worst I've played in general. It was repetitive, long and boring. The game had a bunch of great levels, pick one of those.
Also MGS should be on that list and, this will probably get a lot of hate, but playing COD 4 levels for the first time provided some awesome experiences.
