On a different note ... did you see that Rent-a-Center coupon? It's got your name on it. You get a whole month free!

Seriously ... Forza 3 barely looks better than Forza 2. The in-game car models are very low-detail. They use a high detail model for the intro scenes prior to races then switch to the low-detail models for the actual races and replays. It's all explained at Digital Foundry.

As I observed before and today corroborated by Digital Foundry, the one sta...

instant gratification and each extra dollar more of the download's price goes 100% towards profit.

It sounds wrong but charging more for downloads actually make sense.

They probably realize that lowering the price of downloaded games by $5-10 will literally cut their profit/game in half. Unless doing cutting the download price by that amount more than doubles download sales it's better to keep the price high.

It can also drive sales of hard-drives on ...

Good, sensible comment.
Instead of making ridiculous claims which it cannot deliver Turn10 should be focusing on the game's strengths. How cool is it that you can edit the decals? Very. I would love to have a car that looks like me. What could be better?

These are the kinds of fun things you can do with the game that should be focused on.*

All this empty boasting about best graphics, 10x polygons, definitive sim, etc.. needs to stop. It's bad strategy to ov...

for the same reasons that an iPod is a much better choice than a Sandisk MP3 player. For a large percentage of the market, style and usability trumps specifications.

It may not be what you and I want in a PC but the reality is that the largest percentage of the market really doesn't give a crap about specifications or 0-60.

People will gladly pay extra for a product that's obviously thoughtfully designed in order to make their lives easier and more convenient, that'...

you'd think that when you pay $60 you get a full game.

Not with Forza 3.

When GT5 comes out you can be sure that all PS3 owners, no matter how much they paid for their PS3, will have access to all advertised features. All 1000 cars, all the tracks, all the customization and community features, online racing, etc...

Don't 360 owners deserve the same? Microsoft doesn't think so.

There are a bunch of similar articles like this making ridiculous arguments including mentioning the cost of used PSPs and the inability to play UMDs, an extinct media format.

There are things about the PSPGo that I would have done differently but articles like these are pure fanboy rants. A better article would have compared it to it's competition like the iPod, Zune, Archos, etc...

There is no exaggeration. Those are the precise prices.

What's shocking is that you're recommending that for those who cannot afford a new $100 hard-drive (itself a rip-off with just 60GB) that being forced to settle paying $30 for a used 20GB hard-drive (with a known history of premature failure) just to be able to access all the tracks is somehow a good deal.

Microsoft has truly found a sweet spot in the market!

also count towards sales.

I know people who work there and they say they see a Wii brought in about once a month (if that) a PS3 maybe 1 or 2 per week at most, and 360 about 2 to 4 per day.

Two 2-4 360's per day from just one store, my friends. All counted as sales.

The information below is from information provided to the media by Turn10 and Microsoft yet I've received disagrees. Perhaps those people who are disagreeing would like to indicate where Microsoft/Turn10 have retracted the statements which provide the following information.

Sadly no. Typical Microsoft: Overpromise and underdeliver.

In thess shots the car in Forza 2 has noticably better detail and shading. Seems like some cars are improved and some cars are actually worse.

If someone buys a 360 Arcade console, this is what they'll need to use of all Forza 3's features, such as access all the cars, all the tracks, community features and online racing.

PSPGo's competition is the iPod, Zune, Archos, etc... People pay more for hand-held devices ... a lot more.

Having said that I personally have no interest in the PSPGo. I don't play games, listen to MP3s or watch movies on portable devices. What's more, if I was designing the PSPGo I would have done some things differently.

@Chupa Chupa, your title doesn't make sense. PS3 pricing won't have any negative effect on PSPGo sales. In fact, it might actually improve P...

First, to answer your question:

The reason 360 to PC ports look better on the PC is because the 360's memory architecture and compatible data structures are very similar to the PCs. So porting is pretty straightforward. The PS3's architecture, on the other hand, is completely different. Data doesnt just flow in one direction but goes back and forth constantly between GPU and CPU. So this makes porting to the PS3 very difficult. Most developers don't bother using it properly ...

it's a downright ugly game.

Tekken on PS2 looked incredible. Sadly, this iteration lets the series down.

Uncharted was a 3rd person action game with large environments and multiple enemies but it appeared to have vastly more detailed characters than Tekken 6.

http://o.aolcdn.com/gd-medi...

Forza 3: $60 (300 cars from Disc 1)
Hard-drve: $100 (required to access 104 cars on Disc 2)
DLC: $60 (access to remaining 140 cars)
Live: $50 (Required to access community features, online racing)

Total: $270 (not including console)

Better start saving up!

When you do a competitive analysis the pricing is quite reasonable. Competitors are iPod, Zune, Archos, Cowan, etc... you see that the PSPGo is actually priced competitively.

The difference is that the PSPGo is vastly superior to the above as a game platform.

The question isn't whether people will think of the PSPGo as an alternative to the iPod or Archos but whether Sony can generate excitement in the market to make the product a desirable commodity. The market ...

Pixel fill-rate and pixel shading are not related and haven't been for a very long time.

His line of thinking (fill-rate as measure of shading performance) harks back to the earliest days of programmable GPUs.

It's quaint, for sure, but incorrect.

He is right that the 10MB size of the 360's edram is too small for true high definition graphics with modern effects.
