So the Xbox One beta testers errrr.. I mean early adopters will be paying £70 more for this very same bundle, £430 console + £40 Titanfall.

I think the only way Microsoft can come out of this without further damaging their reputation is to offer £30 cashback and free Titanfall to all early adopters, they're screwing over their most loyal fanbase otherwise.

As I've pointed out earlier, their conclusion of 'slightly faster' doesn't really make sense since their results show the PS4 rendering the video in a 40% shorter time than Xbone (1.4ms PS4 vs 2.3ms XBO), which is roughly what we've been seeing all along.

The article is referring to 4k video and there's no reason why either PS4 or Xbone can't play 4k video.

When it comes to gaming maybe not natively but 1080P upscaled to 4k will look a hell of a lot better than 720P-900P upscaled to 4k.

Mark Cerny contemplated an ESRAM type solution for PS4 except he was looking at 1000GB/s EDRAM, he decided against it because it simply adds complications. He chose to go with the more expensive 256bit memory bus instead.

They say it's only slightly faster?? "Sure it’s only slightly faster but it still counts."

1.4ms is 40% faster than 2.3ms, how is that slight?

Yet another source confirming that the PS4 GPU is massively more powerful.

Those figures you mention are only the THEORETICAL PEAK bandwidth though, REAL WORLD SUSTAINED bandwidth is what matters the most.

ESRAM being a bottleneck is only half of it, Microsoft purchased a cheaper and significantly less powerful GPU for Xbox One, so even if Xbox One had 8GB GDDR5 and no ESRAM to bottleneck memory the GPU would still be holding it back.

I think they just want people to forget about resolutions as they're never going to win that battle, plus with it so much in the public consciousness this generation they could open themselves up to lawsuits for false advertising if they state the upscaled resolution.

If this catches on I can see the gaming industry suddenly not as keen to implement digital media, because lets face it the primary reason they are so behind digital media is because it strips consumers of their rights. I suspect there's a lot of lobbying going on behind the scenes to stifle any such laws in favour of the consumer.

If your product is not what people want no amount of marketing will sell it to them, Sony might be good at marketing but having a product that ticks all of the right boxes is the key to a successful product.

Xbox is more of a hobby to Microsoft, it's a huge drain on man power and distracts from where the real money is for them... it's a bit like a bunch of gold miners stopping to go finishing, they'll get money for selling the fish they catch but it's nothing compared to what they'd have got if they had focussed all of their time and effort on mining for gold.

They need to release games which leverage Kinect, there's little point in bundling it in otherwise, most people aren't going to pay for it just to have a few voice commands (which can be done on much cheaper hardware).

Sony have had AMD customise the PS4 GPU to include a lot of extra compute capability, much more than the PC equivalent GPU it is based on.

This is the sort of thing cloud computing could be used for as it doesn't matter about latency, but does anyone really think Microsoft are going to want their network being clogged up with simulated skies and other things they can't charge for?

New Xbone bundle coming soon, it includes a free tub of vaseline.

When does the power of the cloud kick in?

Maybe now it's starting sink in to even the most ardent Xbone fanboys that the hardware disparity between the two console GPU's is huge.

The idea that sharpening adds texture detail (or any other detail) is just plain wrong, what it actually does is take away detail in order to make certain things stand out more.

The fact that Xbox One now looks 'blurry' is a result of the source material output by the console being unmolested and Xbox One's lack of 1080P in most games.

Of course they are going to deny it because such knowledge in the public space would be very damaging, they will deny it right up until an official announcement announcing the takeover, or if the deal falls through we'll never hear anything about it.

Investors are arguing that MS could make multiples higher (than Xbox) profits in the other divisions if the Xbox wasn't acting as a huge distraction and draining their man power.

If Sony had hugely profitable divisions to fall back on like Microsoft do they might do the same, as it stands Playstation is probably their biggest success story.

4373d ago 8 agree6 disagreeView comment

If MS want out then now is probably the perfect time, they've just had an amazing amount of success with Xbox 360 but by all accounts it looks as though Xbox One will be an uphill struggle all of the way.

@videgamenext1

The point is the majority of people would rather choose not to buy them.

I'd bet that they are adding significant cost to each console, yet like you say most games don't require them.
