If all of these articles about software improvements are true then Xbox One should be about 10 times more powerful than PS4 two years from now.. or.. more realistically.. still slower due to the inferior hardware.
Alex Salmond probably wrote the article, it's fair to say that Rockstar are British as they are a mix of English and Scots.
The fact that it exists at all is a problem.
"The Xbox One’s eSRAM although limited in size has a extremely high bandwidth, with a peak speed of 204 Gb/s."
Extremely high bandwidth? PS4 has 8 GIGABYTES of GDDR5 that has almost the same total bandwidth.
Not to mention ESRAM is only 102GB/s EACH WAY, if you aren't reading at 102GB/s and writing at 102GB/s at the same time then you aren't going to get anywhere near the peak, if...
The reason it will give massive gains is because it will alleviate CPU workload, the CPU's are the weakest part of the new consoles. It's good that Sony have thought ahead.
It's been time since day of release, if Microsoft want a Kinect in every home they should have subsidised the cost themselves by giving it away freely... as it stands people have been forced to pay for something which has **** all support. Are Microsoft even trying to pursuade developers to make use of it?
To me it seems that the only reason it's in the box is that they have spent a **** load of R&D money on it and want a return on that investment, they don't ...
The cloud won't be able to do anything in realtime.
You only have to read the countless discussions about memory bandwidth (the amount of bits that components can send to one another each second) to understand that your average internet connection is going to be a huge bottleneck.
Xbone DDR3 = 68GB/s = 584100 Mb/s
PS4 GDDR5 = 176GB/s = 1512000 Mb/s
Broadband = between 10 Mb/s and 100Mb/s?
That's not even taking into ac...
The trouble Microsoft have is that Kinect is the sole feature Xbox One has over PS4, without it the Xbox One is just a downgraded PS4.
It could be upscaled, when a developer says "yeah it's 1080P" doesn't necessarily mean it's native.
Titanfall may be top of the software charts but all of the NPD charts I've seen include sales of the PC version, I'm not surprised that Microsoft are trying to mislead people by ignoring that fact.
The smart people will have got Titanfall on PC or 360, 792P with the frame-rate continually dipping into the 30-45fps range is not good enough for a supposed next gen console.
TripC50:
I had lots of bubbles but lost them for stating facts (that Xbone would be technically inferior), butthurt Xbone fans disagreed with me because I hurt their feelings even though I was right all along.
I don't try to please anyone or be popular, just state the truth. If you don't like it take your anger out on Microsoft for selling you an underspecced and overpriced console.
It's nothing but a clever marketing campaign.
How many developers said that there would be no difference between the two consoles before launch? LOADS and I got told I was wrong when I said the difference would be significant. Developers will say whatever the note that comes with the cheque says.
No it won't, you can quote me on that.
Xbone still has only half the number of ROP's that it needs for running 1080P decently.
The biggest difference will come from playing a 1080P native game on a native 1080P TV, you can't show that difference in a Youtube video.
Microsoft and Sony went to AMD because they are cheap, it's business... they're not all great friends or anything.
Double? that would make it significantly faster than PS4 with much inferior hardware. Volkswagen will be releasing software tweaks to beat a Bugatti Veyron next.
Xbox One is the console that just keeps on giving, on paper that is!
It's embarrassing to have a GPU with a cooler like that, if they can't cool it with a standard heatsink then it shouldn't be released.
Who cares? it's all about the resoluti.. oh.. wait. :p
PS4 2 Xbone 0
Sounds about right...
