You don't think posting from android devices is hugely common here? Wouldn't it be more widespread? Across the whole web? It really starts off every text entry field with the name of your phone already entered? Or magically adds it after you press send? Neither make sense.

Anyone working in the industry is going to play on multiple systems. This is to be expected.
Developers and platform holders don't have these massive problems with "the other side" that the fanboys do. Once the big guns fire on both sides of the fence everyone will be playing Halo(/whatever is the next big xbox thing) and Uncharted(/whatever is the next ps thing) ND and Bungie even thank each other in their games' credits. (Happens with loads of studios)
It does seem awfully silly.. Who cares what phone or mobile OS anyone is using here of all places?

And of course it doesn't "automatically add it", unless he's set it up to do that for him. Which would be no less silly than manually typing it. Nexus 7s don't randomly add their own name at the bottom of every text entry box, and he did this with his previous phone to...
Backwards compatibility is more of an issue with consoles though. GOG and steam have some veerrry old games on them.. Youd need to keep around all multiple hardware generations to play the console equivelents. (Which is no biggie if you're a collector, but for some people could be an annoyance which doesnt happen in pc land)

Gotta appreciate the advantages of all platforms. I like having at least one of the current consoles as well as a gaming rig. If i had to give up one itd be the console, but thats for reasons unrelated to gaming... Mostly. However many consoles i invest in im never going to beat my steam library, as the games span back multiple generations worth of time. Need to keep access to that.
I say - whatever the devs feel like! If the online component is important then putting trophies there makes sense.
I have no problems with games having difficult (near inpossible) multiplayer trophies. You dont have to aim for platinum in all of them, and by a dev making it hard they arent actually implying thats the sign of a "good" player. Some of the Warhawk trophies were hilariously difficult.
If you come accross someone with the crazy trophie...
It's pretty easy to record an iPad display with Airplay mirroring..
iPad AIR is well enough specced to compete with anything on the market. http://www.macrumors.com/20... - Nvidia Shield uses Tegra4 - near identical GPU performance - and Shield is a dedicated gaming handheld. Air's CPU is 64bit too, and fast. The iPad has insane battery life.
Tribes:Ascend would be pretty hellish with a controller I would've thought, unless it has quite aggressive lock-on.. Which would be a shame.
I can't think of any FPS which requires such fast vertical/horizontal/spinning around like a lunatic with pinpoint accuracy.
I'd like to see a PS4 port too but I'd expect it to be verrrry frustrating.
I have a (large) 1080p dual monitor setup, so played both the campaign videos side by side to see if I could work out how X1 guys are saying they prefer theirs...

Are you watching the video at 1080p? The X1 is an absolute over-exposed jaggy-fest. Even the 360 version is better for jaggies a lot of the time. Which is pretty appalling.
And don't tell me you don't notice that in gameplay. I certainly do, it's horrid - whether it's in GTAV, TLOU or whatever. Net gen really should have decent AA.
I like your idealism.. But reality differs somewhat. These monolithic publishers and consoles are the only way we'll get these insanely expensive to produce games.
There's a place for both ideologies, but they have to coexist, not supplant each other.. Unless theres another industry-wide collapse and the big boys all quit.. Which isn't likely.
The reason PSN got hacked was partly due to the fact that Sony pissed off a lot of nerds.*(An oversimplification but true)
Who's pissing off the nerds this time around? MS are getting more people angry than Sony have in years. Microsoft have beenas close to "asking for trouble" as a tech company can get for a while.

I don't understand how people are still holding onto the notion that the X1 can somehow achieve parity with competing hardware that objectively IS much more powerful. There is nothing outside of the specs. This isn't magic we're talking about. Sony's drivers will get better too!

I'd love to see what a new Unreal Tournament would come out like. I'd also like if they took what was good about Gears and transplant it into something more compelling and less dumb.
Im not sure brain-dead shootyfest has such a place in the market now. Either go full silliness (like serious sam. Or even UT to an extent) or make something meaningful.
Wouldnt it be REALLY weird if Naughty Dog made a FPS? If they applied their storytelling sauce to that genre it could (maybe) have a Half-Life like impact on whats become a pretty stale genre.

Sony might another shooter franchise considering there's no Resistance anymore, and Sony could really do with their own Halo equivalent. Still.

What i want to know is if you set your display to 720 will it downscale 1080p to it instead of outputting in native 720? That would be nice for people with 720p displays - would give them a little extra AA without any overhead, resulting in nicer looking games even on crappy displays.
