Actually, for movies it makes a pretty significant difference if it's 1080p, or heck, even 1080i looks pretty good. But 720p, it's still HD but it's less crispier, less defined colors, less 3 dimensional, etc. The whole point of blu-ray or even hd-dvd is to have the best picture available which happens to be 1080p. The thing is, most people won't notice the difference unless it's on a 40" or above.
Looks like the Wii is starting to decline in japan. Despite still dominating the PS3. All they need is a slight price drop and they will pick up again.
But it seems the PSP is getting all the craze right now.
The graphics actually look decent for a movie-game tie in. Iron Man in particular. The environments do look a bit drab. But it still has a pretty stable frame rate and good amount of lighting and explosion effects. Of course cant say the same thing about the gameplay lol. The controls are just too complex for a game that should have been a bit simpler seeing as how kids are going to want to play it.
I think a lot of people are missing the reason why the Wii is such a success. It's because of kids. There are a LOT of parents out there. Yes, believe it or not. There are more parents than "hardcore gamers." And guess what, majority of those parents kids wants a Wii. And guess what, most of those parents will fork out $250-$500 to make they're kids happy.
And then there are the senior citizens. They play the Wii because it's something they could have never dreamed of ...
NG2 will sell very well, but it just doesn't have the same mass appeal as it does with shooters. Well, talking about NA at least.
wow, looks like the word is spreading fast in japan or something. one of those situations where people wanted one, but didn't think of a good reason to have one. but I guess to the japanese, FFVII:CC and MH was the reason.
This is great and all, but let's see some more friggin games putting it to use properly
Microsoft just really need to slap "HDD Required" and drop the stupid 20gb HDD price's down to at least $40. Then everyone will be happy. Developers and 360 gamers.
You're missing the point of the argument. It's not that users are having any problems with the Core SKU's. It's the fact that the core SKU is hampering certain games and development. If Microsoft made HDD a new standard for all they're games, developers will then be able to make games with HDD in mind, and can use it to stream data and things like that off the HDD.
So there you have it folks, the biggest games of this generation is running lower resolutions. Started with Halo, then COD4, and now GTA IV.
It seriously points out how much people care more about graphics than gameplay. Which is what GTA IV excels at.
"Almost" Certainly.
I agree and disagree. I agree that AA might not be as important as the factors you listed. But it still is something that requires the hardware to produce. And AA is the last "Sheen" or "Polish" that makes a game look good, to excellent.
Honestly there's not much more you can do with a triple core processor. It has it's limits, much like PC games has always been. When reached to a certain amount, more hardware is required.
As for the Cell Processor + RSX GPU = mystery to it's potential. Which is a good thing in the long run.
LOL that's actually pretty funny and actually made me laugh out loud in real life. I just looked like a crazy person in front of my girlfriend
anyway, I agree EA has no more excuses
I would agree on tiny little differences if it's just anti-aliasing. But a more stable frame rate and no graphical glitches like pop-up adds to a much better gaming experience. Best example is COD4. Can u imagine playing online if there's heavy action then the frame rate drops and textures pop up out of no where distracting where you shoot? Well thankfull COD4 doesnt have those issues. But you get the point.
"I believe that had rockstar not made the mandatory PS3 install, the PS3s version would have had MAJOR performance problems. Which would have to lend something to the power of the xbox 360. And that's just keeping it real."
Well they did because the PS3 hardware offered Rockstar the option to include it into the game because all PS3 hardware includes an HDD.
And as far hardware "power" goes, the PS3 is said to have more anti-aliasing. That has to ...
play games developer meant it to be played? well dude, driving 125mph running away from the cops is what they meant how you to play.
its GRAND THEFT AUTOOOOOOO.. not driving miss daisy
"seems like every sony fan has nothing better to do than comment on every gta 4 comparison article"
and 360 fans defend each and every one of them. oops i mean "spin" each and every one.
You know, a lot of PS3 loyalists are the way they are because of 360 loyalists. When people bought a PS3 at launch, and throughout two years of it's lifetime. It's been ridiculed, poked at, made fun of, etc. etc. throughout the whole industry by fanboys and media outlets.
So now that the tables are turning in favor of the PS3, 360 owners are just getting the same treatment that PS3 owners have dealt with for 98% of multiplatform games. Minor differences in graphics and 360 owners...
Actually COD4 is even lower, it's 600p.
