I seriously ponder if any X360 owners claimed the 360 version looks better. lol
I'm going to have to disagree. Gears is a system seller. It should be. It's a much better reason than Halo 3 to buy a X360. Gears 2 is also a perfect reason to get one too. It would also make the most kick butt gift, X360 with Gears 1 and 2 together, whoever gets it will love it!
And to HD, keep in mind Gears sold 3-5 million. Those same people who bought gears 1 is going to buy gears 2, and the install base for the 360 is bigger this time around. It's going to sell just fine.
Way to try and sound really smart using words that aren't even necessary. lol
Sometimes I wish it was revolution and not just evolution. IE: Halo 2 to Halo 3. They sure did need more revolution than evolution for that game.
I agree, it's more of a Gears vs Resistance battle. Gears 1 was the victor by a great margin. I have to say Gears is one of my favorite video games of this generation. Still love the original. But to be honest, I had super high expectations graphically (because of the hype) for Gears 2 and it didn't meet them. I'm sure it's going to kick plenty of butt and all, but judging by these videos I just don't feel the same excitement as I did for the first. I don't know why. Graphically it's clearly ...
Well if the technology you speak of doesn't improve the game's Visuals, then what's the point of using it? Although I'm buying this game day frickin one for my 360, I'm a bit disappointed seeing as how it just looks like an updated unreal engine. Gears 1 already set the bar very high, all they did with this so far was just nudge it up a bit further.
Yup piracy is killing the software, but boosting hardware. It's horrifyling Ironic for the PSP. I love my PSP, but I guess I wouldn't own one if it wasn't for the homebrew.
I agree overall it should be Gameplay > Graphics. But it's probably more like 50/50 in my opinion. Call me spoiled, but I want both excellent graphics and excellent game play. Only game that has delivered that for me would be the Metal Gear series every generation.
But come on, people cant absolutely say ONLY GAMEPLAY over graphics. Otherwise, just stick to playing SNES games and forget the PS3/360.
And about this article, I think it's just pure hatred spewing ou...
@Adro, You just have a really weak argument. You have to look at things like the Lighting, the particle effects, the overall color saturation, the fire animations, the explosion animations, just everything as a whole. The 2008 trailer surpasses the 2005 trailer. But obviously seeing as how the 2005 trailer is done in CGI, of course it's going to have better character animations. It's not limited by hardware.
But the sheer FACT that the 2008 GAMEPLAY trailer looks that good and s...
@callahan
I agree. A frame rate dip on a PS3 game, -.5 points overall rating. A frame rate dip on a 360 game, "not enough to mess up gameplay"
Less pop ups on a PS3 version, and more pop ups on the 360 version actually means "They are on par."
"the fact that we are even arguing the finer points between a CG VIDEO, and an actual game, running REAL TIME on the Playstation 3 is fascinating to me"
that says a lot right there lol. If you look at the playstation day trailer in game trailers, you see some of the comments below are pretty funny. I saw stuff like "Looks great, but let's see some actual gameplay and not a CGI trailer."
The fact that people are mistaking it for a CGI trailer says ...
One thing people keep forgetting is that the new most recent "Trailer" was just ACTUAL GAMEPLAY footage pieced together. Which is a absolutely amazing. And Quaz51 already hinted that the game will probably be in 1280x720 Quincunx 2MSAA resolution. Which is amazing considering the stable 30 frames per second and the amount of detail and things going on at once.
@1.10
That video was from the 2007 E3. They need to compare the 2005 E3 video to the latest video which is now the PS Gamer's Day 2008 videos. Obviously the latest trailer shows vast improvements over the 2007 trailer. And again I will reiterate, they've still got 9 months to go!
Damn just played the demo, and this game is a must buy for me. I'm a big time car enthusiast and GRID is a dream racing game. Great graphics, great controls (for me), and they have D1 cars! AHHHHH!!!

I'd say after seeing the latest Killzone 2 trailer I would say this guy is spot on. Look at Killzone 2 when it was first unveiled at E3 2007. And look at the most recent trailer, huge differences in detail and graphics. Only developers like Guerilla Games, Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and Evolution Studios are going to keep pushing the PS3 to the absolute limit.
I don't get why people don't like it. It's not like it's conflict denied ops or soldier of fortune level. This game deserves at least an 8/10.
One thing I do agree is that Sony were too headstrung coming out of the PS2 era. They are battling a different war this time around. But you still must admit, they were spot on with including Blu-Ray with the PS3. If that's what's selling the PS3, then it's still good for them.
As for the 360, they never really promised anything. They really just brought out any stuff when they can with no real long term strategy. It's like "HDMI is not needed for gaming." then

Was going to say the same thing.
These are definitely bullshots unfortunately. There are not that clean or detailed on my 40" HDTV. Up close there's aliasing everywhere and low res textures.
Yeah and remember the news when they used a clip of Killzone 2 as hype for Halo 3?
