then i'm guessing "reznik" is a reference to the machinist? and zerosum being a NIN reference? and also a nod to the fact that they made "trevor reznik" intentionally similar to "trent reznor" because they were NIN fans? i remember hearing that. awesome movie, and amazing artist.

so i'm guessing man on fire would be worth getting on blu ray? i'm having trouble finding it on netflix and through other digital channels, so i was thinki...

I've been falling into the same pitfall lately, and this is a really good idea that, for some reason, never occurred to me before. I'm going to try it out.

Fallout 3's quests were extremely linear by comparison to the first two games

5054d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I agree. Bethesda's handling of the lore was atrocious, and there were way too many linear quests for a proper entry in the Fallout series. Obsidian did a great job crafting a narrative that was almost as open as the world itself. The writing was significantly better, and the world was in-line with what you'd expect to find 200 years after the war. Fallout 3's world would've made sense if it took place before Fallout 1, but with such an extremely sparse population that has...

@bobby kotex

i noticed the same thing, MW2 was $60 and it kicked off the trend. interestingly, activision only seems to price COD and blizzard games at $60 (not sure if they control blizzard's pricing or not), because I remember seeing other activision games for $50 at launch. of course, after MW2, EA started charging $60 for ALL their PC games. ubisoft tried it, but most recently launched AC revelations at $50. zenimax now does it with most of their stuff (skyrim was...

Yeah, definitely not teaming up for a console. Even disregarding the fact that the visit didn't happen-- Valve keeps pushing for Sony and Microsoft to open up their consoles, and Apple likes to keep their ecosystem as tightly closed as possible. It just wouldn't work.

seems like that's been happening a lot lately.

although valve said they're announcing something with a 3 in it at e3.. so if it's really half life 3, that will be all the e3 news i need right there lol.

The sex and swearing aren't what make witcher 2 mature, though (and I don't mean mature as in an "M" rating). They serve to add to the tonality of the world, but it's the branching narrative steeped in complex politics that does it for me. There's no binary morality system, you're dealing with complex issues that are analogous to real-world issues, like abuse of authority and subjugation of minority groups. Are the scoiatel terrorists or freedom fighters? The gam...

Yeah I definitely agree. The first mod I installed for NV adjusted the lighting and really brought out a lot of vibrant color. It's actually a really colorful game, they just seem to use this muted filter or something that tones it all down.

Typical EA. The first info we get on this game is which versions we can buy for an extra $100.

Fallout 3's narrative definitely didn't feel like a fallout narrative, it felt like an Elder Scrolls narrative. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, it's just very out of place in a fallout game. The main story consisted of following one basic path to a final objective, rather than letting you forge your own path however the hell you want to. Part of the fun of Fallout was figuring out how the hell you were ever going to accomplish what you needed to do.

^^yes, definitely. Fallout 3 is very out of place, it feels like a non-canonical spin-off more than anything. They definitely didn't handle the lore well, and the quests themselves were mostly quite linear with little consequence (except for megaton). Also New Vegas had much better characters.

I'm aching for a Fallout announcement, but I really don't want Bethesda to develop again. I loved Fallout 3, I easily spent over 100 hours in that game, but I didn't like their sloppy handling of the lore and I thought the way they handled choice wasn't really in line with the first two games. Meaningful choices and consequences are a huge staple of Fallout, and the only quest that seemed to fall in line with that was the big megaton quest. That, and none of the characters ...

well, considering this exact thing was a PC mod first, it's not even new in that regard.

The only thing I can think of is that they had asked Ready at Dawn to do it but they turned it down to focus on next gen and their own IP. Since they're going to want a GOW on the handheld as soon as possible from a business perspective, and because they couldn't get Ready at Dawn to do it this time, I could see them opting for a vita version of GOW4 since it'll likely be out sooner than if they were to find a new studio to do a dedicated GOW vita game. I'm sure it'll ha...

If pachter is right (heh) and the first GOW for vita is a port, I'd be TOTALLY fine with that. Especially if they announce GOW4 for ps3 and vita. Chances are there's going to be co-op, and some GOW cross-play action would be sweet.

I've slowed down on mine, that's for sure, but mainly because I've gotten caught up in other games (first ME3, then I suddenly got back into Metal Gear Solid, now I'm finally finishing FF13 because a friend assures me I'll like the sequel). But Gravity Rush is one of my top anticipated games across the board this year, I absolutely cannot wait to play that, the in-store demo is fantastic. Once that, Resistance, and Sound Shapes (if we ever get a release date) come out, I...

I agree with your criticisms, though I respectfully disagree with your overall impression of the game. It all comes down to personal preference, so for me, the parts I love (particularly the fact that your choices carry genuine weight, something a lot of modern rpgs don't convey too well) significantly outshine the aspects that are lacking (namely the combat), and of course that will vary from person to person. One thing that's worth noting is that there's two versions of act two...

I'm having trouble thinking of an RPG in recent years that handles choice and consequence as well as Witcher 2. I can't wait for the enhanced edition patch, the new content has me foaming at the mouth. My only big complaint was that it seems to end abruptly, but a lot of the new content seems to be focused on expanding the game's last chapter. Pumped.
