I actually wouldn't mind if I was forced to buy a Nintendo brand hard drive. I won't need a large one. I just want to get a few of the old Gamecube classics. I like having all my Nintendo games on one machine.
I don't think that the Wii U necessarily needs any of those things. Yea... they'd be nice, especially "the game that blows everything else out of the water" (every console needs that), but nothing on this list is imperative for success.
The Wii U NEEDS the following:
- a reasonable price
- a strong online network
- 3rd party support
- strong first party software

PS4 and 720 are definitely coming, no doubt about it. Imo E3 2013 would be ideal for both Microsoft and Sony to make an announcement. Although both Sony and Microsoft have huge fanbases, neither company wants to launch last (imo of course). The Xbox 360, and PS2, both gained significant ground by launching early in their gens.

I think that the Wii U pro controller was made with 3rd parties in mind, but for a single game series... no way.
CoD is very popular, but not enough to make Nintendo revamp all of their controllers. If this was true then Nintnedo would have added dual analog sticks to 3DS XL.
November always seemed obvious to me. Black Friday and holiday sales are just too sweet to pass up.
