Sony should consider acquiring them if they’re mutually interested.
Xbox bought up most other Western rpg studios with Zenimax…. And this outlier studio sounds like they deserve 1st party backing for their next ambitious project.
All studios that push the boundaries for gaming, which gets harder and harder each gen, they deserve to be backed as a 1st party studio, one way or another.
The ps5 SSD loads ~9gbs/second of compressed data… I’d be very surprised to hear that software is able to close that big of a gap with hardware without compromises.
I mean, it might not be needed for the Minimum settings…. But on ps5 it *might* be the best looking game ever. I’d bet you need the SSD for the full buffet of visual feasts.
I guess we’ll see what the SSD allows in a few weeks…
What’s your excuse for Microsoft’s decade-long game drought… Their lack of studios?
They had plenty of studios. They were doing great until CliffyB left mid-360 era.
Those studios lost talent, like CliffyB, like OG Bungie devs.
Sony and Nintendo have either retained or fostered new talent and leadership. That’s how you keep consistent, and Xbox shows zero track record of that.
I know it takes 4-6 years to make games…. Are you unaware that devs get devkits for the next gen of consoles years before they launch to the market?
That’s how ps5 and Switch launch with great games, and continue output every year thereafter…. Microsoft has the same starting, yet they falter year after year.
What is Xbox’s excuse for not matching the output of their competitors?
They rely on lowered expectations by people that are ignor...
Again: Sony has released at least 6 games that I LOVE for my ps5 so far, and Microsoft is sitting comfortably at ZERO until Starfield comes out. And if it wasn’t for Zenimax being bought, then we’d have to wait until 2024 for Hellblade 2 (4 years after the XsX launched, which IS the latter half of a 7 year lifecycle).
How do you keep overlooking the fact that Sony manages to do exactly what Xbox simply hasn’t: made SEVERAL AAA games for their $500 hardware EVERY year.
I like that a lot.
Im sure M$ will be able to straighten out CoD, since they’ve always excelled at preventing their own legacy IPs from going stale.

How has Sony and Nintendo managed to make a dozen great games for the ps5 and Switch, but we’re still going on 3 years of waiting for our first AAA for the XsX?
Microsoft had plenty of studios before Zenimax, they just had the worst rate of output.
Zenimax was a bandaid purchase… they still haven’t made anything from scratch. Hellblade 2 will go against this, but it will be dropping in the latter half of the console lifecycle….

Please don’t do a TV show….
…how?!?
That’ll happen when the price of Game Pass doubles.
Their own platform feels empty…
Sony and Nintendo make games from scratch and push the medium forward; M$ only buys them when they are more than halfway done and contribute NOTHING to actual gaming innovation.
And now the platform that innovates the least controls the most studios BY FAR.
How does that bode well for us gamers?
1) DOOM III hasn’t been announced, I’m just assuming it’s on the way because I haven’t killed Satan yet.
2) my last point is: let M$ MAKE a good game on their own this decade before they take ownership of most Western studios. Sony and Nintendo MAKE new games from scratch, pushing gaming further year after year; in contrast, M$ only buys games that are already more than halfway done… they do NOT create, they buy.
M$ has NOT pushed gaming forward in over ...
I don’t hear that alot
I just hope Bungie doesn’t force ND’s Factions to be time-sucking like Destiny.
Let streamers and children run out of content after playing for 4 hours straight daily… they’ll just end up only playing twice as much as me, vs x10.
I just don’t think the FTC is properly illustrating how Xbox has broken promises for over a decade; and the Zenimax deal already gives them an undeserved foothold (monopolizing the entire genre of Western AAA RPGs).
All evidence indicates they are likely to mismanage and disintegrate even MORE studios with this deal:
-they had Bungie, and they drove them away.
-they formed 343 to do what Bungie refused to do, and they managed to burn through $500...
Just be happy they managed to put a bow on a game with 1000 planets….
