by missing out on Christmas in Europe, 360 will widen it's lead there and Wii will get a head start. No matter how you look at it, Sony is in some serious trouble. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they still MIGHT manage to salvage the Japanese market and make a good showing there, but in N. America and Europe, it's over before it's begun.
people are buying replacements for all the older units with crapped out lasers. I will be buying one, too, so I can keep playing my PS1 and 2 games.
in business it isn't about what you've done, it's about what you've done LATELY and lately Kutaragi's resume isn't so hot with all the PS3 delays and problems and the fact that DS is running away from PSP in sales. I don't see Hirai doing a whole lot better, but it would certainly be hard for him to do any worse.
don't bother. It will already be filled. ;-)
Master Chief has *gasp* BATTLE DAMAGE!! He's all scratched up. :-O
I still have my NES and SNES. :-D
The only problem is what happens if you wear out your old controllers?? There's going to be huge increase in prices on used systems and controllers on ebay. :-(
Blu Ray movies and hacked PS3 games coming your way!!!!
Everyone knows console games are always region coded, so why does this surprise anyone? Just because Nintendo hasn't come out and openly declared the console was region locked actually gave some people the idea that it might not be??
MASSIVE DAMAGE!!
in another article here, it was said that sales of Superman Returns were dragging EA down, but for every system it was released on, it is not worse than third in sales against some strong competition. That doesn't sound like a failure to me.
shares don't fall on good news, hence this is NOT good news for Sony no matter how they try to spin it.
but I bet the fanboys wish they had one so they could go to the future to see where all this 'potential' they paid so much money for is going to lead.
"The average game now costs $8.6 million to create"
Hmmm....if it takes 500,000 copies of a game that costs $8.6 million to create to make a profit, then Killzone better be a massive blockbuster hit, and sell more copies than any other game in the history of games.
Nintendo has broken from the traditional business model of "lose on systems, profit on games". They are profiting on both games and systems with the Wii, so they don't have to sell as many games as PS3 and 360 to start making a profit. That's why Microsoft needs to force Nintendo into making a price cut on the Wii before they have made their money back. If they drop the price of 360 core to $199 or even $229, it may be the final nail in the coffin of Nintendo.
* Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution
* Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers
* Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy
And I just went and got the VGA cable for mine. Now all I need is a monitor that can display a 1080p signal instead of just 720p. ;-)
We've already endured two N-Gages and rejected them. There is no need for another.
It makes me think that Wii was the system that Nintendo needed to come out with last generation instead of Gamecube. Yes, to the person above, the lighting on PS3 does seem to be a bit too bright on many games. The thing is, there are situations where being better lit can be useful. Let's take a combat simulation like we just saw as an example. You're pinned down behind a wall by a sniper up in a tree or on a rooftop somewhere, but you can't see him. You need to be able to look around in shor...
Think about it. They had two losers in a row with N64 and Gamecube and don't have enough money to develop a killer system to compete with 360 and PS3 on technical merits, so instead they go off in another direction and market a box that is cheap to make and easy to develop for with a gimmick.... motion sensitive controllers. They sell millions of the freakin things to people who aren't normally in the market for video games, build up their warchest, and then come screaming out the gates in th...
And they say 360 having an attach rate of 5.2 is bad news. Sheesh.
Is always one of the killer apps for Sony, but the big question is how soon can it get here?? If it's 6-12 months away or more, then I doubt that it will make a huge difference in how the sales race finishes up.
He was moved out of his old job because he was an idiot. It's called damage control. Sony will probably keep him on in his new post long enough to qualify him for a nice retirement package and then he'll be out the door. Retired in disgrace, I should add.
