Every region always has it's smaller local developers that can't manage a worldwide rollout of their products because they can't afford it or wouldn't sell enough to be worth it, but they can still make a strong showing in their own home markets. That's why Japan has so many games compared to the rest, and that's why people buy import games, because they aren't available outside their home market.

I really was thinking of trying this game. I thought it would be an FPS like COD or R6 but using the obsolete weapons of the time. Those muskets were hardly accurate at anything more than point blank range. Can you imagine playing something like Gears where you have about a 5% chance of actually hitting your target and you have to stop and reload after every shot?? Then you have hand to hand combat and bayonet fighting. I really hoped this would open up the door to a whole new aspect of the s...

in the rush to ditch rumble and add sixaxis, it makes me wonder if they actually removed the complete functionality or just the motors. Could you maybe find the points to solder the rumble motors from a dual shock controller and get them to work alongside sixaxis???

and here I was thinking queues for major events in London were long. I think Japan now takes the title from England as queueing capital of the world.

to companies trying to bring in mass quantities of consoles. That company was foolish to make a public advertisement of the fact that they were selling them before the official launch. Most gray market sales will be individuals buying them on ebay. That is the biggest problem and one that Sony can't really do anything about. I doubt that they will go after everyone who buys one on ebay. It is their own fault for ignoring Europe when they launched elsewhere. If enough people import them, it is...

if they aren't selling?? The 2600 and the Intellivision were still being produced in factories during the years that I mentioned and still being stocked in stores. They targeted an extremely low price point (I think they were like $29.99 after the NES hit) and kept on selling. Admittedly, after 1985 when the NES took the world by storm, there was little support for them, but they still sold well enough to continue production and games are still being produced for them both today. The homebrew...

and tried to give him another one, but you can only vote for each member once apparently. I guess that's to prevent your friends from giving you your bubbles backs immediately after the moderators have taken them away, but he hasn't been very offensive in the time that I have been here and I would rather continue this conversation in one thread than be chasing around multiple threads with it.

but why didn't you put this reply in the appropriate thread?? Oh, I forgot, you only get one post per thread. Sorry. Anyway, the whole PS3 thing hinges on BOTH Blu Ray beating HD-DVD AND PS3 games beating 360 and Wii games. It also depends heavily on Sony's online strategy beating Microsoft and Nintendo's. Let's look at all of those. OK, first we have the B-R vs. HD-DVD thing. HD-DVD players are cheaper than B-R players and will be for a while yet. The base PS3 is price competitive with a ba...

9-10 years like Sony thinks it will. Consoles don't have life cycles that long. They always get obsoleted by the competition long before then. The only console I think that pushed the boundaries that far was the Atari 2600 which ran from 1977-1992. The Intellivision had a good long run, being produced from 1979-1991 but they had like 4 different owners in that time and didn't run as long as the 2600 did.

they don't have a shortage of accessories there like they did here in USA. If you didn't pre-order extra controllers, you were pretty much out of luck, which is stupid considering Wii is supposed to be a party system. Party system = lots and lots of extra controllers.

It's because Sony is CHARGING vendors to be part of their FREE online service. I sure as hell wouldn't pay Sony for a spot in their online marketplace with things the way they are now. EA most likely expects that Sony will distribute their demos and trailers at no charge to them like on Live.

they can't even afford a VGA cable to play on the computer monitor they already own. If most gamers there are tech heads and university students, they must have enough money at least for that.

if you take off your fanboy glasses and look at it from a purely logical perspective, 360 definitely is the best deal going right now. I got mine, not because I am an XBox fanboy, but because I had a limited opportunity to get a really nice price on one and it does a lot more than PS3. I'm not going to let Sony sucker me into using my games console as a movie player again. I fell for that last time around and now have a big black brick on top of my tv because the laser burned out. And then, w...

When they know they have some titles that won't sell on their own so they bundle up some hot sellers with the stinkers and force you to buy them with a system to reduce stock.
