it's a conspiracy that is keeping PS3 from selling. It has nothing to do with the high prices, lack of games, demo kiosks that freeze up, forcing people into Blu Ray, hackers or any of the myriad other problems surrounding Sony and the PS3, and it certainly can't be lack of demand that is keeping them from selling.
Why the heck isn't the reply function working?? Anyway, Voodoochild, nobody is saying anything against the large installed base of PS1 and PS2 owners. It is Sony that is...
What part of my post did you not get?? The 360 does do games in 1080p native, if the game has support written in for 1080p. It also upscales games supporting only lower resolutions to make them look better. The PS3 can only output 1080p if the game is written with 1080p output. If it is not written to support 1080p, it can't upscale it because it does not have a scaler chip. 1080p output is not a selling point yet, anyway, because most 1080p TV's don't accept a 1080p signal. Also, at normal v...
for Gamestop to get hit with an anti-trust lawsuit.
to not putting a scaler in PS3?? Unless you have a 1080i/p television, you can't watch Blu Ray movies in better than 480p, and if you're going to watch them in 480p, then you should save yourself some money and just get the movies on DVD. The most popular display format today is 720p, and 1080i is no longer in production. The PS3 is going to hurt Blu Ray sales more than it helps them because when the majority of HDTV owners buy a Blu Ray movie and see no difference in quality over a DVD due t...
I think they are going to come around eventually and see what a better deal the 360 is. The Japanese are smart consumers. When they compare the games and the price and MS starts getting some more games geared to the Japanese market out there, 360 will take off there.
Most Nintendo users are children. How can they say they aren't targeting their porn towards children after this??
but Sony still comes up short. Unless a PS3 game is made exclusively for 1080p, you won't see it in 1080p. When playing movies, unless you have a 1080i or 1080p TV, you're stuck watching in 480p. What is the point to paying more for a Blu Ray movie, if you have to watch it in 480p?? You may as well just buy the movie in the cheaper DVD format if you have a 720p TV or get a cheap, upconverting DVD player. Blu Ray movie playback means nothing on the PS3 without a 1080i/p TV and that is going to...
I guess they finally realized that they are more likely to sell if they aren't part of a $1000 or more bundle.
it should be retailers who sell games to inappropriate age groups, and not Microsoft. Microsoft has nothing to do with third parties who develop for their system, other than granting them a license to do so and providing technical documentation and development tools. They have little control over content and zero control over what happens to the games once they reach the retail level.
I look like an ax murderer when I go out shopping. Nobody would dare mug me with less than an Uzi or Mac-10 in their hand. I managed to get my PS2 and my original XBox home on both launch days without so much as a devious glance from ne-er do wells.
Back in the 80's Atari started making software for competing computer platforms using their exclusive licenses. Mattel also had M-Network which was ports of Intellivision games for other consoles, and Coleco also made a lot of their Colecovision games for other systems. Developing or porting games for your competitors isn't a new thing. DS does not compete directly with any existing MS product, so it really doesn't threaten MS to port or develop titles for the DS. Besides, think about it, al...
it looks pretty bad. The Gears have bigger muscles than the figure and they don't have Mickey Mouse ears. The Gears are also taller relative to their width. The armor isn't even all that detailed.
I use the VGA cable with mine and all my old XBox games look better than they ever did. HDMI is supposed to be a higher quality connection than all the others. PS2 and PS1 games should look stunningly gorgeous on PS3 over HDMI, so why don't they??
they would put the content back into the game for free where it belongs.
It took 6 years for PS2 to reach 110 million and the competition wasn't as strong in that generation. Dreamcast was already dead through most of those years, XBox was still an experiment and Gamecube was a games only console that really couldn't compete with PS2 on a feature for feature basis. So you have PS2 selling 18-19 million a year over 6 years. To say that PS3 will exceed that with the increased strength of the competition and all the rest of the negativity surrounding Sony these days ...
but the criticism of PS3 and Sony is not at all unfounded. The people who work in the retail outlets are supposed to know their stuff. They see on a daily basis what is arriving in terms of games for the PS3 and they also see what is on the way in the near future. Go to any Gamestop and look at their reservation board. Some of the games on it are almost a year away. If they say that there is no overwhelming reason to buy a PS3 for at least a year, they know what they are talking about. Now, r...
$300 is the magic number that everyone has become used to over the years. Neo Geo broke with the price and got killed. PS3 broke with the price and is getting killed. 360 premium is $100 above that, but you can offset all or most of that by looking for a deal with rebates or freebies. That was the reason for the two tier pricing strategy by Microsoft. They knew they wouldn't be able to contain the price on the premium system below the $300 mark, so they created the Core system with less featu...
price drop on PS2 again soon. So there goes the $8 profit they were making on each unit. If they drop it even $10 they are back in the red with PS2, so they will have two consoles that are losing money on each sale.
based on the original series or the Sci Fi channel remake??
I strongly suspect that the wife/girlfriend factor is preventing a lot of fanboys/wannabe fanboys from buying PS3's. I also suspect a lot of those wives and girlfriends are driving Wii sales. You have to pity those poor guys, stuck playing Wii tennis with their other half when they'd rather be tearing through mutants in RFOM.
