about disc swapping when you were all playing Legend of Dragoon or Final Fantasy 7. Why is it such a problem now??
IS that the price for the PS3 will be even higher than USA and Japan. You're going to be paying $800 or more and there won;t be a less expensive 20gb version. PS3 is region free and the power supply is 110/220 compatible, so importers are bringing them in and swapping the power cable for one with a UK adaption. The demand for PS3 is going to be blunted by those who can't wait until March and are buying them on ebay. Sony is not going to gain any ground in Europe at all.
even though PS2 was released after Dreamcast, the Sony propaganda machine was able to stifle Dreamcast sales to the point where they were eventually driven from the market. They tried it again with the 360 but failed. 360's 13 month lead means more than the lead that Dreamcast had because MS was still able to sell consoles in spite of all of the Sony hype.
The launch games and most of the games for a while after all sucked. It was the cheap DVD movie playback and backwards compatibility with PS1 that got people to hold off on buying a Dreamcast to wait for PS2. $299 was a very reasonable price for PS2 at the time and people could afford to pay it. $499 and $599 for PS3 may be reasonable considering the cost of the components inside, but they are not affordable prices for most people. The games that are out now for PS3 are also not a selling poi...
Firstly, they don't have a license use the Goldeneye name or the Bond character, secondly, they are duplicating the Rare N64 game only with updated graphics via the Half Life engine. I see them being hit with at least one Cease and Desist order in the future.
And this is why Sony needs to kill of the PS2. How are they going to sell PS3 when everyone is still buying the old system??

This one has pics.
with a high end Toshiba player. The 360 player does not have all the hardware contained inside. It relies on the 360 to perform many of it's functions, which is why it is so cheap. The Toshiba player will be more similarly priced to the PS3 and have a more similar feature set and an HDMI out for better 1080p comparisons. And if you're going to argue that the high end Toshiba costs more than PS3, don;t forget that the actual retail price of the PS3 without Sony subsidizing it is closer to $100...
Here is the relevant section to the article that I linked above:
AACS relies on the well-established AES (with 128-bit keys) to safeguard the disc data. Just like DVD players, HD DVD and Blu-ray drives will come with a set of Device Keys handed out to the manufacturers by AACS LA. Unlike the CSS encryption used in DVDs, though, AACS has a built-in method for revoking sets of keys that are cracked and made public. AACS-encrypted discs will feature a Media Key Block that all players ...
Blu Ray uses the same protection, so that means Blu Ray movies are in danger, too. Hmmm.... I just found this and I think it's interesting.

Scroll to the AACS section and it says that the makers of AACS can revoke keys and make them unusable on new content. The keys are attached to the hardware, so if you hack keys for the MS HD-DVD drive and they get ...
"Hollywood will not allow you to upsample 480p DVDs to high-definition resolutions over analog connections... "
What exactly is it that upscaling DVD players do, exactly, if not display 480p content at 720p and 1080i/p resolutions using an analog connection??
Try reading the table correctly. The 3 over the 150 is the number of titles they are releasing for the PS3 and the 150 below it is the number of units in thousands that they expect to sell.
Do not feed the troll.
Western companies don't have a very good reputation when it comes to RPG's. Look at games like Evergrace, Eternal Ring, Summoner and Azurik for proof. I don't blame the Japanese for not buying them.
will be hacked and posted online by the first person who buys Crackdown, so the incentive for more people to buy it will fade quickly. What they need to do is include a teaser gameplay demo that lasts about 5 minutes that is not so easily copied.
the a$$hole deleted my comment about voiding the warranty so nobody would retract their bids. What scum.
Early adopters who bought 2005 dated units already had their warranties extended out to one year prior to this because of the known issues concerning the red ring of death and DVD drive issues from the first run of machines.
That's why they use a different DVD drive than they did in the first run of units and why they are changing the manufacturing process on the CPU from 90nm to 65nm. It reduces voltage requirements and heat generated by the CPU, which should extend the life of everything inside.
the power supply inside the PS3 is both 110 and 220 compatible. All you need is a power cord that has the UK adaption at the end.
can you refill them with whatever they need to produce the electricity, or do you have to buy a new one every time they wear out??
