now Gabe Newell. I guess nobody is loving PS3 in developer circles.

is that you don't even need an HDTV to use it. So for all you fanboys who like to keep pointing out how the cost is the same for a 360 + HD-DVD player as it is for a PS3, work this out. 360 Core system (it doesn't say on the box or in the instructions that hard drive is required for movie playback) $300 plus HD-DVD player $200 plus VGA cable $40 (less if you get a generic one on ebay) plus computer monitor FREE as most people already have one so to get into HD movies on 360 costs $300+200+40+...

that they would abandon their sell hardware at a loss strategy in China the same way that Sony did when they launched in Mexico. You can't sell your hardware at a loss in a country where they do nothing to stop software piracy.

for a military or police contract.

this sort of thing could send investors into a panic. Sony has more international investors now than ever before. Bad news tends to irk western investors more than Japanese investors, who tend to stand behind a homegrown company regardless of bad news in the press. Sony had better start increasing their market share and turning a profit soon if they don't want Warren Buffett or Kirk Kerkorian instigating a shareholder rebellion.

Most people won't own a TV that accepts a 1080p signal for a long time yet, so having 1080p output now is meaningless for all but a very few who can afford to buy very expensive TV's that both accept input from, as well as output to, 1080p. The majority of people owning HDTVs will be viewing in 720p, 1080i or upscaled 1080p for probably the rest of this generation of consoles life cycle. You can't really see much of a difference between either 720p/1080i and 1080p anyway. The only reason Sony...

When you're focused on a game, you don't even notice the sounds the console makes. Especially if you have your console hooked up to a loud stereo system like many people do.

The more I read from this guy, the more convinced I am that he has no idea of what life in the real world of video games is like. Of course PS2 software sales are going into decline. It is an end of life system. People are switching to the new gen consoles now. Most people still buying PS2 systems are replacing old systems that are broken and who already have all the games they want or gamers on tight budgets who buy a new PS2 but buy their games used. The fact that emulation on PS3 looks hor...

If nVidia can turn out a powerful gpu within the confines of a handheld game system. I don't believe they have faced that constraint before. In things like cell phones or other multi-function devices, the graphics don't have to be powerful because they are only part time game machines, but a handheld is different. If it is PSP2, then the graphics have to surpass the original PSP which lies somewhere between a N64 and a PS2. It is going to be hard to improve on that given space limitations and...

Then they should be stockpiling for the European launch not delivering excess units to USA and Japan. This is going to infuriate Europeans even more if Sony shorts the European launch while they have slow selling units in other markets that should have gone to them.

too bad no-one's buying them. They are going to clog the retail pipelines with so many extra units that they will have to idle their factories until the backlog clears like Nintendo had to do a few years ago when there were too many Gamecubes at retail.

Sony is never going to allow one of their properties to be used for a 360 game and certainly not an exclusive. If they give consent, it will be with the condition that it either be PC only or cross developed for PS3 at the same time. No 360 version.

are designed to deceive the public and fuel the fanboy fires. They make big promises that they know they can't deliver on because they know that no matter what they say, they will still be golden with their core users. Why are you Sony fanboys so blind to the fact that you are just a bunch of Sony marketing tools?? They wanted 4 million PS3 out by end of 2006, they knew they couldn't do it so they then started announcing a 2 million goal, missed that and then announced that 1 million was real...

must smoke the same brand of crack. Distant third in sales with massive losses does not = domination. They need to stop looking at continued sales of PS2 as a good thing and start seeing them as an impediment to PS3 sales. If Sony only makes $8 on a PS2 as has been quoted here before, then each PS3 sold offsets the profits from almost 40 PS2's. PS2 is not outselling PS3 by more than a 40-1 margin, so Sony is still losing money even with PS2 selling like mad.

HS was supposed to be one of the must have games due out in time for the European launch. If it's not going to make the launch, it gives Europeans one less reason to buy a PS3 right away.

if MS did buy them, will they be allowed to continue cross platform development, or would they be taken completely in-house as a 360 exclusive developer?? Leaving them cross platform would bring a bit of extra cash from sales on other consoles and could be used as a means of getting the Microsoft name seen in the enemy camps.
