No, people just didn't like the fact that the hardware it took to give PS3 BC was part of the reason the console was so expensive at launch...
Now that it's an added bonus at no extra cost, and it's lead to the creation of some great bundles (Rare Replay, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Fall Out 3 w/ Fall out 4, and Rainbow 6 bundle), people are seeing a great value proposition...
Also, 360 GwG games will all be BC, meaning your games catalog will...
Even if ps now was free, you still have to deal with the fact that you are streaming video over the Internet... It's bandwidth intensive, lag inducing, and requires you to be online to play your games...
The idea that psnow would ever be free is ridiculous. It costs money to provide the service... And they aren't going to give access to all those games for nothing...
Also, you don't HAVE to have the disc for BC to work on xb1. If you own 360 titl...
Play station owners complain about how many useless, lengthy updates there were during the PS3 era. Also these updates interrupted play time.
On PS4 the issue has been how infrequently Sony adds meaningful additions to the OS.
With X1 you simply won't see those complaints because 1) the updates occur in the background, so they don't interrupt play time and 2) because MS frequently improves the Xbox ones capabilities. One 'stability ' update e...
Tons of changes have occurred since the Xbox one launched. External storage support, party chat on dedicated servers, snap center, game streaming and much more...
I don't know where you've been, but the OS has been evolving since the beginning.
It's not that cut and dry...
Dedicated hardware is great, but so is having a multiplatform api...
I'm sure Morpheus will be the best VR on consoles for a while. But it would be nice to know have hardware that you could use on any device you own, and the comfort of knowing that developers could port a game to your platform with minimal effort.
@kingthrash360..
It allows you to play your Xbox from any room in your house, without moving your Xbox around...
Someone hogging your TV? Stream to your desk top... Don't feel like going to your man cave, stream to your laptop...
It's super convenient, and folks have already figured out how to make it work over the Internet, so that you can play away from home...
What you saw was a tech demo... They have not shown any gameplay elements (story, mobility,mission structure, enemies, vehicles, character leveling etc). But we in many ways know what to expect on that front... This is a sequel afterall...
You're implying that destruction is all there is to do, when that clearly isn't the case. You'll see gameplay when it's ready. The game is over a year away.
People are excited because of the gameplay implica...
Because people think it's fun... And this sequel looks like it has the potential to be a great game...
The point is, people have a choice to buy the cheaper last gen version if they aren't too pressed to play with shinier graphics...
It also means that people who already own the 360 versions can continue to play them, without holding onto your old console...
I don't understand why you would disagree' with having more choice as a consumers... You act as if making games that have remasters BC takes space away from other games... There's unlimited...
The licensed soundtrack in skate might prevent it from getting BC support... Keep your fingered crossed...
@silentnegotiator
I've played and completed Red Faction Guerrilla... Yeah, the scale of crackdown is again, leaps and bounds above what RFG was able to pull off... And the leap in processing demand is quite obviously far greater than what the improvement in console hardware could achieve on its own...
I certainly would have noticed that the destruction was leaps and bounds beyond anything we've ever seen, from a technical standpoint...
I would have accused them of demoing the game on some ridiculously powerful, impossibly expense gaming rig, and not on an xb1.
In fact, there are tons of those allegations still going around now...
So yeah, people would have noticed...
@classic19
False, Gears and Crackdown did not start development at the same time... Microsoft announced it was working with Cloudgine since before the the Xbox one was reveal...
MS didn't buy the Gears IP until January of 2014... Just because they are releasing around the same time doesn't mean development started at the same time... crackdown is entering uncharted waters... Naturally this tech take time to develop...
MS didn't ...
Any MP game with AI is going to process the AI on the host machine... Whether that host is a P2P client or a dedicated server...
TitanFalls implementation isn't really ground breaking in and of itself... It's just that in TitanFall, the amount of AI on the map and the fact that they weren't intended to replace human players was a novel idea.
They used AI differently... But server processed AI is nothing new.
Forza uses the cloud to process data post game... It doesn't do any real time processing work. TitanFall uses it to supply dedicated servers... And that's basically it...
crackdown was developed with Cloudgine to be the first game to utilize cloud compute from multiple servers in a real time environment. So cloudgine is the first company to do this, and Crackdown is their first game...
There's no way that timing would allow Cloudgine to provide i...
What a monstrosity...
I got one of these, and added 4TB to my xb1 without making it hideous...

But if you don't read the article you're replying to, Chances are you'll be saying something that makes no sense...
Well, what you've seen is pre-alpha...
So far, they've been working on getting the engine working in all its cloudbased glory... They've got a year before it reaches Beta, which plenty of time to work of graphics and animations...
I hope they do pick up, or all this effort would be for nothing... Also, more people need to be able to enjoy these games... I think they've learned their lesson; and won't lose hunger as long as Spencer's around...
You can borrow games, or play games you already own, or get GWG, or games bundled with new releases...
