Gaming longer than Mario.
CRank: 5Score: 33830

All anyone has to do is look at last generation. The way it ended was so far different from the way it started. The games, the services, the online, everything was different. Things can and will change so much over the next few years that trying to predict a winner is crazy. Unless a disaster happens like EA, Activision, and Ubisoft all decided to stop making games for one console, both consoles should sell fairly well. There will be a point where both will sell so many, that even if one can ...

Continuing to post ridiculous crap articles is this is what is bad for gaming. Neither system is 100% sold out everywhere. And please, lets not take manufacturing and stock replenishment into the fact that Sony had a split launch and Microsoft launched in fewer countries. That changes how much inventory ends up at stores. But lets just take what a few people see at their local store take that as a representation for all stores and online retailers around the world. I feel bad for the people...

All depends on the area. Some have seen them, I haven't seen one yet. At any one time or place you can find Playstations and Xboxes somewhere. Neither one is truly 100% sold out everywhere. Its a general PR statment, yet people find a way to complain. If they shut up and didn't say anything, those same people would say they must be failing because they are not talking about their sales.

My feelings are that people often point the finger at the new UI. But to use the UI you need the human element. Not all people figure these systems out as easily. When someone has been using a system for many years and then moves to a new machine with a new system they are going to feel a little lost because trying to do things differently. That will play into a new users view of how intuitive a new system is. Also UI's are designed to get the most out of the system. With any case, that r...

It seems like any other product that introduces a new UI. People hate it in the beginning but then come around once they figure it out.

Its not hard to believe the Xbox could out sell the PS4 on black friday. First the 360 sold better than the PS3 in the US last gen. Second, the PS4 was launching around the world that day. The resupply in the US and Canada would have been very limited because they had to make sure they had to have enough consoles for launch in all the other countries that day. The Xbox had already launched and was in full resupply mode. Now thats just one day, very early its not an indicator of long term suc...

Looking at last gen, Xbox waiting 2 years to price cut. The PS3 started introducing new models, and then cutting prices after 6 months. I would think this gen could be the reverse of that. That $500 price tag on the Xbox makes a big difference. In the next 6 months once you will have had launch, the holiday season, and the Titanfall release. If the Xbox is getting outsold 2:1 by the PS4 you could see a price cut to $400 as soon as E3.

Gears was a big part of the Xbox brand last gen. With comments like these, there is either nothing on the horizon at all...or its going to playstation. The Gears brand sold almost 20 millions games. The first 3 were successful, Judgement was a flop. I think a lot had to do with that being a prequel made by a different studio.

Microsoft may no longer see Gears as a good investment to spend the exclusive money on. I'd like to see a new Gears game on the PS4. But I don'...

Agreed. I was just in a discussion yesterday about this. In my mind I try to separate their gaming opinions from their journalistic ability. I treat all the journalists reviews and opinions like any others. Just one persons thoughts. But I do expect professional journalists to provide informative and well done articles or videos. And to provide accurate information. This was not that at all.

Its the internet age we live in, and I don't see it getting any better.

I still have not been able to get into a BF4 multiplayer match. And the campaign has cut out a few times for the CE-34878 error. I had no problems with COD or NFS or being online in general except for launch night. All my problems come from EA games and connecting to their servers. Madden and Fifa finally came around, but not Battlefield.

It's either they are lying, or don't know what they are talking about. Neither would surprise me.

Exactly. It boggles my mind when I read these. Its like they expect every single Sony exclusive on launch day.

I first played COD Ghosts all weekend. I was impressed. There was a definite improvement over last gen, but not huge.

Then I put in Battlefield 4 yesterday. Holy F*** it was amazing. That sealed the deal for me there.

Lets see, I could wait 6-12 months, and still pay $400 for a PS4 while playing current gen games. Or buy a PS4 now and play all the multi-gen games on the new system, plus enjoy games like Killzone, Knack, and soon Driveclub and Infamous. So far, I love my PS4. I see the value already. Others who have different tastes might not. Just like some people wait in line for smartphone releases, others can't see the value in anything more than a standard flip phone. Its all up to the individual w...

The whole article reads like he is trying to make it out to be the Sony's fault for catering to shooters.
Especially with his opening sentence "The days of Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, and Jak & Daxter filling PlayStation consoles worldwide are long gone, and may never come back." They are coming back, and so is a wide variety of games. Just not at launch.

As for the sales numbers. Two of the biggest console franc...

Looking forward to it. If I could change anything about the previous game and bring it forward it would be to just eliminate multiplayer completely in favor of making the single player bigger and adding in more exploration elements.

How many games launched for PS4? Around 15 or so. 3 are shooters. 2 were major releases that were scheduled to release at that time frame anyway. The third, Killzone is a exclusive and part of the great Playstation variety. The console hasn't even been out a week yet, give me a break.Oh wait, there are 4 sports games on it. Shouldn't it be the Sportstation 4? The whole article reads like the only games available now and forever on the PS4, and then the comment section there praises hi...

Would parades and fireworks make it better? I can't think of a console launch any better than this. This write up pretty much sums up what I feel is wrong with most peoples expectations. With a new generation people are expecting some giant leap in graphics. And what I told my friends was its not about what you see at first glance, its the details you see as you keep playing. The more I play my PS4 the more things I see that set it apart from last gen. Details like the environments, the l...
