Great review! It's really unfortunate this game is going to be so irritating to get a hold of because it was banned in Australia... importing is a pain.
But so many 9/10s means I just have to get my hands on a copy :(
I don't think Sony had a choice in the matter - I think the hackers dictated the timing of this outage, unfortunately.
It's just a very different culture to what we see in the West, and tends to be far more open about sex.
I agree that games like this are very, very strange by our standards.
It really is a very good game. Picked it up for a few hundred yen (a few dollars) when I was in Japan, and I've played it through a few times now :)
Really looking forward to this game. It's been ages since a D & D has really hooked me, it's long due now.
It's a pity. I have a PSPGo, and it's a great little console, but before its time in many ways.
Really, though, it was an experiment by Sony - testing the waters to find out what does and doesen't work with download-only consoles, and where consumer's pain points were.
It's pretty clever in that way. As a bit of R & D Sony's set itself up well for the future, in part because of the PSPGo.

Whilst I agree that some retailers are doing well at the moment, that's because digital distribution is just starting out.
A generation or two of consoles down the track, the lack of modernity in game retailers is going to hurt them, and I haven't see much to suggest they're changing their tune.
It'll be an interesting couple of years!
Famitsu is a great magazine - I have a subscription (I read Japanese). 100+ page magazines are so rare in the West now, and these guys do it weekly. A whole heap of information there.
Reviews are pretty unimportant to the magazine, too. It gets just 2-3 pages. It's much more a lifestyle/ features magazine than reviews.

Nice DLC, but please, more characters SE, even if just for the arcade modes?

Steiner would have been really cool. He was great comic relief in IX.
I think IX is an under appreciated game because it was released so late in the PS' life that many people unfortunately missed it. Everyone played VII, even if it isn't the best in the series.

Also, it's not really trying to be a comprehensive list. It's a bit of fun and just some characters. No need to get all aggressive over it. :-)
