People that dismiss the iPad as a gaming device haven't used an iPad.

Even the comments above... Angry Birds is not all that is on the iPad. Not even a fraction.

There are some very good games on the iPad.

I'm not commenting on the Wii U and whether it's under treat, I just wish people would give the iPad a go before dismissing it. I've filled mine with good games many times over.

A list of games I'm playing...

... in the second paragraph this review claims the game is a RTS. It is not a Real Time Strategy game at all. It's simultaneous turn based.

@Muletroid - you mean like how Intel acquired McAfee for $48 per share?

Once again, it would be a big acquisition, but not in the realms of impossibility. And it would make a lot of sense for all parties, I would argue.

Profitibility doesn't necessarily factor into acquisitions, or the cost of making an acquisition.

There are plenty of very profitible companies that get acquired.

Have you seen the size of some of the large technology/ entertainment acquisitions in recent years?

Microsoft bought Skype for $8.5 billion
Oracle bought Sun Microsystems for $7.4 billion
Panasonic bought Sanyo for $4.6 billion
Disney bought Marvel for $4 billion
Intel acquired McAfee for $7.7 billion

Huge acquisitions do happen. Nintendo would be a huge one, but not impossible.

At a guess, people who like Dynasty Warrior games.

$4 for a game that is 15 or so years old is insane. Especially since Game Boy Games have less content than many $1 Apple App Store games.

By "new" I mean "not second hand." You wait a few months in Japan and DS games drop down to about 1000 yen (Nintendo not included). Bargins and second hand games, 500 or so yen.

I came home with 10 or so DS games, none of which I spent more than 1500 yen on, and only two of those were second hand.

Bah. I played this game for a couple of hours at a preview event, and Official PlayStation Magazine can go bite the big one. They're wrong.

"Not-so-historical"?

You do realise that for the most part, the Warriors games are historically accurate in terms of plot and characterisation?

That was the point of the article - that the only "bad" thing about Final Fantasy XIII was that it was misnamed.

If it was called something else, I suspect the response would be far more warm.

Probably wouldn't sell very well though, and Square Enix isn't a fan of producing obscure JRPGs.

If a big businesses' share value plummets, it doesn't actually matter how good its product is, the business is still in big trouble.

It's usually in the interest of business to do right by consumers, because as a very general rule of thumb more product sold = more revenue = better share value, but it's not hard and fast.

What is hard and fast is that corporations need to work very hard to appease the shareholders.

This whole c...

Um, what?

Apple's the most valuable IT company on the planet. Steve Jobs hasn't said "F you" to the shareholders at all.

The reason I mentioned business school is that I'm just wondering where your mountains of experience on the topic come from?

5407d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Shareholders are a type of customer. It's worth remembering that.

I'd say, given the raw success of Activision over the years that it's actually servicing the retail customers as well.

I'm not sure what business school you went to that would claim shareholders were not the most critical customer of big business - but it is. Small business is different, I agree (mostly because a lot of small businesses don't have shareholders in the same wa...

I'll never understand why people criticise Activision for acting like a business.

Running a business rule #1 - shareholders are key. Which means you do, actually, need to go for revenue and profits. That's the only reason businesses exist, in reality. By servicing the fans with what they want, games publishers become successful businesses, and fulfil their contract with their shareholders. People buy this stuff, so Activision would be a very poor business not to take ...

Perhaps I need to join the army to get access to it then ;-)

Seriously, I'm the kind of gamer that gets way, way too into these games. Brilliant stuff.

It's really hard to recommend this game. Basically... if you find the "hard" mode on the likes of Civilization or Total War games way too easy, then you might enjoy this one.

It's absolutely brilliant at what it does. But I reckon 1 gamer in 1 million will really get into it.

Thanks for the nice feedback.

What's the difference between the military, and commercial edition?

I didn't have access to the military edition.

Yeah, this isn't true. The hackers couldn't have got the CVV2 numbers.

Also worth noting that someone over at Sony, or the security firm it's working with, would have known and reported if there was any credit card details taken by now.

It's just a matter of convenience, really. I have a Japanese PSN account as well, and between them I get to play *most* games (and two PSPs to link to those two accounts) Even from the list above, there's only three or so games that the Americans have that the Aussies are missing out on at the moment.

But, given the value of the Australian dollar now, setting up an American PSN account as well is looking better and better...

In that case, I am really jealous of the American store.
