You didn't read the article, did you? That is exactly the point the article made :-/
Sengoku isn't a turn based strategy game, actually. It's real time, though you have the ability to pause the game.
The similar setting and concept to the game is going to draw comparisons to the Total War games. It's inevitable. Dig beneath the surface and yes, of course it's a very different game, but people need to play the game first to realise this, don't they?
I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on this game on the mistaken assump...
Really now. People also say that "board games are not contemporary," and yet that industry is doing fine.
Heck, while people are going to make silly claims, let's also say books are not contemporary, who would write one of those?
This is a great article. I'm glad to see there are still rational people out there.
Most Facebook games are pointless ;-)
It's a little unfair to compare a grand strategy game, like Pride of Nations, to a game like Civilisation.
That's like comparing Civilisation to Starcraft 2, and criticising Civilisation for not having enough action.
They're all strategy games, but very different subgenres of that.
How on earth could you not have included Final Fantasy's score?
Paradox abandoned retail? Paradox's retail business was tiny in the first place. That company has always been a digital distribution publisher first and foremost.
In other words, that 90 per cent statistic isn't a sign that its retail business is slowing. Just that it was never important, and its digital distribution platform is taking off. Remember, Paradox is closely alligned to Gamers' Gate, and that's growing fast.
It's worth noting, I think, that Famitsu - as Japanese as gaming publications come, manages to give games like Call of Duty a good write up, despite games like Call of Duty not being a core demographic game in Japan.
Wow does that guy have a tough gig.
hy-per-bo-le (noun) Obvious and intentional exaggeration.
Given the way you use language, it's no surprise you missed that though.
Or attacking bad journalism. If you read the piece you'll also notice that the score isn't what's being criticised. The review is.
Risk on Facebook would be amazing!
Why complain about this to EB Games? There are other games retailers in Australia - online and bricks and mortar.
It's a good thing for the other retailers.
Knowing SE, it'll be heavy on the RPG elements. Could be interesting - I'd be up for a goot Rhythm/ RPG hybrid.
Just you for calling him a duck. Chocobos are not ducks. :P
The iPad version will be a day one download for me.
I'm still waiting for a new Magic Carpet...
Agreed. If there is a place for strategy games on the consoles, it's through the download services.
It surprises me that there are so few board and wargames on there by now, though.
Well, I've played games such as Final Fantasy 3 on the iPad for hours at a time without any problem.
Ah, my misunderstanding then, I apologise.
I agree, I don't know why the media insists on taking such a deadbeat approach to this stuff. A halfway intelligent journalist would research this stuff and seek out psychologists and sociologists before arriving at any conclusions.
