"We could have used forced clocks, we could have used variable clock rates: the reality is that it makes it harder for developers to optimize their games even though it would have allowed us to boast of higher TFLOPS than we already had, for example. But you know, that it's not the important thing. The important thing is the gaming experiences that developers can build. "

It's not a sales number competition... at least not for us.

When you realize that, you might start enjoying gaming wherever it comes from.

Exactly what I've been saying. Variable clocks are to make the system look more powerful than how it effectively will in real (heavy loaded) gameplay.

Predictable performance is always better than variable (aka, unpredictable) Add to that massive horse power, smaller form factor which equals more efficient cooling and it males the Series X the biggest technological achievement in consoles... probably ever.

My personal perception (and I'm not referring to anyone in particular) is that Sony boys are the common denominator when it comes to "wars", bombing and radical stuff regarding videogames (i.e. Druckmann got plenty of death threats after TLOU2 leaks) If one actually checks Metacritic user votes, you can see a pattern there. Xbox and Nintendo games get bombed by PlayStation users whereas PS games are barely touched by non PS fans, hence their high user vote ratio (God of War, ...

@bouzebbal

You nailed it!... Obsidian must be working on the next Forza, The Initiative must be doing another Gears, Ninja Theory is definitely working on Halo, Playground Games is all in for another Ori and inXile is, of course, going for a sabbatical generation.

Same story all over again...

MS is breaking paradigms in everyone's faces but some boys fail to notice.

Anyone who remotely wants a Series X and already owns an Xbox One will be able to sell their console (say $100-200) since Series X provides "smart" backwards compatibility (increased fps/resolution + HDR) and migrate with all their catalog and progress.

Add to that the fact that, with Game Pass, they won't need to pay 120 bucks for Halo Infinite + Forza 8 and what...

Guys trash talking Series X launch lineup, before the XSX big event.

Even before that event, at least for launch games, Halo Infinite is looking stronger than PS5's Miles Morales (A mini game), and this is after the PS5 main event.

Can anyone enlighten me and say which Triple A game(s) PS5 has for launch? (Not mini games, not indies, not middle budget games)

People need to understand that a 4TFlop Series S could provide a performance close to that on the One X (and above PS4 Pro), only that it's likely to be cheaper, and include a (smaller?) SSD... which will be expandable.

It makes all sense for the casual gamer, if the price is right.

2049d ago 5 agree3 disagreeView comment

Not necessarily. Series S should also have an SSD, so it will be more future proof as it should be compatible with every next-gen game, as opposed to the One X.

I'm betting it will cost less than $300... probably $200.

If MS goes out with a $400 - $200 next gen offer, it would be killer.

There's a lot to digest about this game. I've checked it more carefully and now I'm more hyped than ever. I can't believe CD Project has pulled this massive project.

It will be a beast and I hope they iron out the details about driving and fighting because the world is an absolute wonder, it just can be too overwhelming for some people.

Every new FIFA gets harder to play... and not in a positive way.

2049d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Good news is that it will be optimized for XSX @120fps. I will get it a second shot then.

The game is an absolute wonder from the visuals to the music score and gameplay. It really is a console show off.

I see nervous people.

That's why I said it doesn't translate like that in real life scenarios.

However, if we talk about TFlops alone, XSX is 17% more powerful in the best case scenario of the PS5... but we all know the 10.3 figure isn't directly comparable to the 12Tflops on the Series X. My personal bet is that there would be a solid 30% of difference in demanding games, when PS5 won't be able to sustain its "peak" performance and Series X will, since it's sustain...

Ok making progress here =)

Anyway. Sony is aiming at something different than MS. Making 60fps your absolute target will always be better than offering a "Performance Mode" in 60fps in my opinion, since you will squeeze every bit of power to get to that target with the highest possible visual fidelity. Let's leave it as that.

2049d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

True, but they have released hours of gameplay and the impressions can't be better. Unlike, say Halo Infinite, about which we know nearly nothing.

2050d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

There's a big difference between having a "Performance Mode" and having a game optimized for 60fps. In a game like God of War, 30 fps was so obviously the target FPS.

On the other hand, Gears 5 looks better than any console game running at that framerate. This is what Microsoft is aiming at for their future exclusives, and according to DF, it looks like Sony isn't.

Sounds like you're expecting Sony to specifically speak about every g...
