""Software-based&am p;qu ot; ray tracing conveniently left out. Still a current gen game with increased settings on twice as power hardware at unknown resolutions. Why this is treated like some miracle, no idea."
This is neither a miracle nor something for you boys to get all jumpy about. It's just a fact that shows off the raw power of the Series X (not even a 2080 Super can run Gears 5 like that) and the optimization of t...
P.S. I meant 60fps on GT.
Here's a video of Spider-Man running at 60fps:
https://youtu.be/zRi898Cij_...
Watch it for 10 minutes... go back to PS4's Spider-Man and you will notice a huge difference. Most should notice the difference at first glance.
@NeoGamer232
I'm not getting your point. Fanboys do not buy 2 consoles... they stick to the one they prefer and despise anything outside it.
Vendors do not force you to do anything. They just work to have the best lineup so they can sell their hardware. i.e. Sony locked Street Fighter V as a PS exclusive, and also secured rights for Spider-Man. That's what competition does... this is just how the market is.
What you're sayin...
Gran Turismo is a racing game. It just can't be 30fps...
This is the break down:
30 FPS
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - 30 FPS
Stray - 30 FPS
Returnal - 30 FPS
Kena: Bridge of Spirits - 30 FPS
Demon's Souls - 30 FPS, but may offer 60 FPS mode
Destruction Allstars - Probably 30 FPS
Horizon: Forbidden West - Probably 30 FPS
Oddworld: Soulstorm - Probably 30 FPS
60fps does matter. Some people don't notice because they're not used to it. Have them play a game at 60fps for a while and switch back to 30fps and they will not want to touch that lower framerate version again.
I whish Sony opted for 60fps as a standard this new generation but unfortunately they didn't. They might give a choice to go 60fps with sacrifices, but it will never be the same as if you push the developers to take the most of the console by still hitt...
Why jumping on the guy's throat for saying Gears 5 will hit 120fps?
MS promised it will do in multiplayer mode, which is where you can show it off. You don't need 120fps for campaign.
Also, it's not just "a current gen game running @120fps". Gears 5 ran at ~100fps with barely any optimization on Series X, with dramatically increased settings which means "Ultra" PC settings + globally-illuminating ray tracing.

If I'm not mistaken, all Series X First Party games are aiming at 60fps+. It's only PS5's opting for the good old 30fps.
I'm not sure it's a bad thing. Being exclusives would probably make them even better titles.
Yeah, it's definitely bad news for those who can only afford 1 console... but if this happens and games like Batman become 1st party and fall on Game Pass, then acquiring them would be a matter of "only" buying the console, and the subscription.
Either way, buying both consoles seems to be the way to go next-gen.
@Silly gameAr
That's because 1. Xbox and Nintendo fans either don't visit Metacritic or don't care that much 2. Those bombings didn't get much (or any) coverage by the press.

The big difference here is that it's PS fans bombing their own game... not fans from Xbox or Ni...
There's always Nintendo. And this would have a serious impact on Xbox's Marketshare. Heck, Series X will have a big impact with current studios Nevertheless.
I don't think that would happen. Looks like AT&T wants to sell "meat and bones" altogether.
Also, keep in mind Microsoft paid 2.4B for Mojang (Minecraft)... so it doesn't look like a big deal in terms of money for MS. It IS a big deal in terms of time and effort overhauling such a big number of studios (more than 11)
@Daniel2183
Those are studio breakers. Microsoft's clearly the best option in terms of quality...
Trolls have been bombing Xbox and Nintendo games for years. Now Metacritic reacts after TLOU2's case. Not that I'm complaining, but they should've reacted years ago.
"Will Microsoft buy Mortal Kombat"?
They're talking about Microsoft's interest into buying Warner Bros. Interactive, which includes big studios like Rocksteady (Batman Arkham... currently on a Suicide Squad game) Monolith Productions (Middle Earth Shadow games), NetherRealm (Mortal Kombat) , TT Games (Lego Games), Avalanche Software (Harry Potter RPG) and a good number of support studios.
Whether this happens or not is a mystery. EA, Act...
Microsoft has already overcome their departure... whereas Bungie never reached the success or quality they did with under Microsoft.
@Minute Man 721
And we're not even July 23rd 😂
Was anyone even thinking about it?
lol... yeah wth... It's on Ubisoft's trailer. They're giving away Watch Dogs 2 the day of their event, so they can promote WD3.
@TheRealTedCruz
If Sony announced something remotely similar to Game Pass, the same guys disagreeing would jump in a foot and say it's the best thing since the Internet was created.
Right now it's Microsoft's so it's faulty and overrated.
I want a Mortal Kombat vs. Killer Instinct game with "Cole Train" included.
There's a 4 billion wall in the middle though :D
