This article makes me nostalgic for the Segata Sanshiro campaign.
I believe you're thinking of Monolith Productions. Monolith Soft is a different company.

Revise and resubmit.
"I read the article. The point, though, is that it's stupid to even start making comparisons when there's no data."
The hottest article the other day was Wii Music getting a five out of ten from IGN. Is a game that gets a single bad review is more deserving of attention than a game that six out of six reviews said was pretty good?
"Why write an article about it when you can't draw any conclusions at all?"
Because it's a game th...
"If only one reviewer rates a game and gives it a 100, do we start talking about how it's going to be the highest reviewed game evaaaaa~~r!!!11!"
Is anyone actually arguing something like that?
From the actual article: "I'm sure that once more reviews come in the score average will go down."
Oh no! A website with reviewers who have different opinions on specific games than other review websites! The nerve!
"It should change your mind a little."
I think you might be confused about what website this is.
"Looks like we can expect a Force Unleashed II"
Seems like a bit of a shame that Lucasarts fired a chunk of the original game's dev team. :/
I think a lot of people are trying to do their best to forget that game ever existed. I know I am.
"greed got to them :("
Greed -- for lack of a better word -- is good.
Greed is what drives people to innovate. Greed is what drives companies to release the best possible product they can. And greed is what drives us, as consumers, to demand the best possible product that a company can make. So that we can get the most out of our money.
Were it not for greed, we'd all still be playing Pong -- or more realistically, we wouldn't be playing...
Well, putting aside Disaster for a moment because it's a horse of a different color, even a game like Monster Hunter 3 could potentially incur some pretty serious localization costs.
Menus, shops, NPCs, whatever plot things go down, people have to change those things, which can be a chore unto itself, and people to go in and re-write the code for each individual instance. Competent people who know how to program aren't exactly cheap to come by, and they either need to be multi...
In answer to the original question, localization costs differ depending on what games one is referring to specifically. If you're dealing with a relatively short game or a game that doesn't have much in the way of story, dialogue, cinematics, or complicated instructions, then those costs are going to be relatively low.
However, the issue gets more expensive the more of those factors you add in. For instance, let's say you have a game where all dialogue is purely text based. It'...
"Wii
* Super Smash Bros. Brawl
* Mario Kart (with wheel)
* Wii Play (with remote)
* Wii Fit (with balance board)
* Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock (with guitar)
As you can see smash is out selling Wii play and Wii fit. I think it is around 6 million copies now. Mario kart is not fare behind"
Would you mind linking me to your source on that? The most up-to-date numbers I've been able to find are on Wikipedi...
"i don't know how nintendo can sleep at night knowing they are releasing this joke of a 'game.'"
My guess: They buy *really* expensive sleeping medication.
"With virtually all third parties now at Nintendo's disposal, why not get some of them to create more mature and/or violent titles that will appeal to that audience?"
Because when they do that, things like this happen:
"Forthcoming Wii title Mad World is facing a mainstream media backlash, after pressure groups called for the game to be banned in Britain.
SEGA is due to release the Platinum Games developed Wii exclusive over here ne...
"What is the definition of hardcore anyway?"
The commonly accepted definition among most sources is a game that one may play for an extended period of time, i.e. sustain continuous gaming sessions for an hour or more at a time. Similarly, hardcore gamers are those who play games for extended periods of time.
I say "commonly" accepted because the exact definition of the term differs from person to person and because many people have adopted the...
Personally, I'm most interested in a rumor that this article didn't even mention: about whether or not Sega's developing a sequel to Skies of Arcadia.
Ah. Thanks!
Where was it confirmed that it was for the Wii? The trailer doesn't have any system logos and at the moment I don't have the time to check through the half a dozen links available.
Please don't feed the trolls.
