Um, I was making a light joke about Pachter, based off of some his recent predictions that didn't fare so well. I didn't actually intend for it to be taken seriously. o-o

"Some of you are acting like the guy is saying it’s gonna be released in 1-2 years. That's not what he said"

Well, if we take into account that Pachter's been talking about this High-def Wii 2 thing since last year, 1-2 years does seem to match up with the time-frame he previously sugg...

Guys, I think you're all missing the big picture, which is that the analyst in question is Michael Pachter. That he is "absolutely convinced" that something is going to happen is reason enough to believe that it's not going to happen.

I actually kind of admire Wii Music, if only for how hard it desperately wants to be one of the guys.

"Nintendo never owned Nintendo"

That's a pretty Zen typo, right there.

Anyway, I'm wondering about exactly what's going through the Nintendo's people's minds, since the way the article makes it sounds, they pretty much turned down free money.

Obviously that's not the case, but it would still be nice to know what precisely the case was.

Well, that was a thoroughly depressing read.

"and i'm telling him why we did nor care... why we did not care?because we got a lot and i mean a -{{{{HUGE!}}}}-!!!!! library of great games."

Fair enough, although I'm not particularly certain of the extent that it's valid to compare the libraries of systems that were/have been out for eleven years and eight years respectively to the library of a system that's been out for around, uh, two or so if I'm not mistaken.

"he's trying to justify the Wi...

Um, he didn't say there were no great games on either of the Playstation consoles or that they were bad systems, he just said there were a lot of terrible games on both of them. Which there were.

Maybe they'll eventually do what Rockstar's doing with Manhunt 2 in the UK and slow-play things until no one's paying attention and stealthily release a censored version in those places a year or two down the line.

I'm not saying it's likely or that it's right, but it's a possibility.

That said, I'm actually somewhat curious as to why the land that gave the world The Fist of the Northstar is one of the more conservative countries when it comes to videogames.

Oh geez. Was there actually an executive sitting in an office somewhere that said "Hey, you know a franchise that we could *really* stand to see more of? Army Men!"

That prospect truly frightens me.

Meh. HD is nice and everything, but in some cases I honestly prefer lower power, as it forces designers to adopt unorthodox art direction. This approach gave me Ocarina of Time during the N64 era and Okami last generation and some great examples this generation. I'd be more than a little disappointed if "art style" came to represent "getting every tiny pixel of every single surface as photorealistically rendered as possible" across the board.

Well, if it helps bring the game stateside, then I welcome this development. If the game turns out well, anyway.

6327d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

Nintendo makes money, and lots of people get to play some great games they missed out on last generation because only six people actually bought Gamecubes. Sounds like a good deal all around.

"One thing I have notice about Nintendo they only do one Mario, Meteroid and Zelda per generation."

What the heck are you talking about? The N64 had Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask; Mario 64, Paper Mario, and Mario Kart 64. The Gamecube had Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes; Mario Sunshine and Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door; Zelda: The Windwaker, Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, and Twilight Princess. And that's not even including the stuff on the hand...

Indeed, what they showed certainly looked pretty slick. Crossing my fingers that the rest of the game goes off equally well.

Also, a mild disclaimer: some sites refer to it as Dynamic Combat, while others have called it Dynamic Slash. Might just be a translation issue or something, but something to keep in mind when looking for articles about it.

I'm not certain, but I think you might be talking about "Dynamic Combat".

"100 buck says that they got scared after E3 and that they redirected resources immediatly to the more "core" type games."

Right, I can just imagine how that went off.

"Mr. Iwata! A couple guys on the internet are saying we're not hardcore!"

"No! Even though we're swimming in money and dealing with an audience of over 30 million people, we absolutely cannot afford to lose a couple guys on the internet! I mean, tha...

I had a feeling about Punchout, but Sin and Punishment 2? Oh, that just made my day.

"Not at all, I am not screaming STFU at them. Just saying it in a conversation."

Um, I never said you were screaming. My exact phrase was you "told him" something. My point is that telling someone to shut up is a highly disrespectful thing to say in the first place. Your tone has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

"What you fail at is that someones tone does not carry over into text. Keep that in mind when you read and just dont assu...

By that token, isn't it equally silly to say things like "looks like it's going to be awesome"?

Isn't it a little silly to get all riled up and tell people to "STFU" over how they feel something currently *looks*?

In all honesty, though, if someone doesn't like the other dozen plus Final Fantasy games, I find it difficult to imagine them being won over by a new entry, no matter how good it is.

Ah, it's refreshing to read someone correctly characterizing the Thompson situation.

The gaming media should have learned long ago not to feed the trolls.
