It would lead to advancements. Think about it, what's more efficient, 16 different studios taking the time to figure out how to solve a problem (let's say the PS3's lack of hardware acceleration for drawing bezier curves to the screen), something Insomniac already found a way around, or one company figuring it out, sharing it with everyone else, and allowing everyone to move onto another problem. UE3 is getting terribly dated my friend... take my word for it, I work with it on a daily basis these days and I am constantly hindered by it's limitations.
I always thought it was funny that the ONE thing they said couldn't run on the PS3 was the AI routines... one of the things that the PS3 is probably best-suited for with it's number-crunching capabilities. I think it's just lazy programmers who don't want to tighten up sloppy, branching AI code. With multi-cores, there's a "right" way to write an AI routine, and a "wrong" way. Branching routines are definitely not in the former category.

lol, if people want to spend their hard earned money to help someone in China put food on his kids table, I say good. The only people who will complain will be the ones who are either upset because they had to work for it, or the ones who can't afford it. Some people have a lot of time constraints in REAL life, and don't have the hours necessary to grind away in WoW to get any enjoyment out of it. If starting off with an awesome character with tons of gold is what they need to enjoy the game ...
I personally thought Bioshock was meh. I couldn't even force myself to finish it. I chalk it up to hype. I was so pumped for it, i went out and bought the limited edition PC version on day 1, played it for about a day and a half, and found it to be far too easy, and a little bland on the story side. The AI wasn't what it was promised to be, and the only think I really liked were the graphics, which really stretch what UE3 is capable of, and the Big Daddies.
I think that people who are going to be upgrading their graphics card have already moved up to PCI-E, and the majority of remaining AGP users are people who use their computers solely for things like the Internet and word processing. Most people, just from personal experience, don't even know that you can upgrade individual computer parts, and if the need for a new graphics card arises, they just buy a whole new rig.
