I'm not saying that's where the series should have stopped, but even some of the most popular series in the history of gaming had to go through the paces for a few iterations before they god the kind of rabid fanboyism that Halo had accrued, and in all honesty there are much better games that get overlooked because of hype machines like the Halo franchise.
Oh come on... let's be honest with ourselves here, Halo 1 was just in the right place at the right time. The Xbox had NO good exclusives, and Halo, admittedly a ground-breaking CONSOLE game for it's time came around and got the recognition it deserved. It did things that PC FPSs had done for YEARS, but it did it correctly for the first time on a console since Goldeneye. That's where it should have stopped. It ceased to be anything special after that.

Take that bucket off... Halo is the mediocre!
sounds a lot like haze, heavenly sword, and lair criticisms that came from the 360 camp, none of which were bad games, and one of which (Heavenly Sword) was one of my favorite games of last year.
It's an optical illusion caused by any solid color with a section cut out of the center with blurred edges.
@ExAtari...
In complete agreement. I've used UE3 in my game dev courses and even at the lowest level natively supported by the engine, it's still shiny as hell.
NICE catch! + bubbles.
I remember reading about him years ago, reminded me of daredevil.
Achievements are still the most retarded thing to come out of gaming in the last 10 years. I don't need my system to tell me I've done something right and then give me arbitrary and completely useless "my d!ck is bigger" points to validate myself.
You clearly know NOTHING about programming. By your logic CUDA should run on an x86 and your desktop could run algorithms meant for IBM's supercomputers.
If you write code for 8 cores, it will only run on 8 cores.
lol as they say... money talks, and the man certainly has plenty to throw around.
My buddy's dad has one coming to him in August... in Virginia.
Fenderputty, check out the Aptera. 300MPG available for purchase now. Enjoy.
uh... why?
I may be wrong, but how can a TV with a native resolution of 1280x720 (my tv) also display 1080i? I seem to remember a while back reading a tech article stating that 1080i doesnt actally have 1080 lines.
Go Secret of Mana (just played it through again myself). And what if I said I know of a little treat for SoM fans...
Sonarus you're hysterical. Bubbles up!
Capt. Chaos...
The new 80gig bundle has all of those things. Get out of your fanboy bubble.
OpenGL is so much more versatile that DX will ever be, it's just harder to program. On the plus side, it requires a lot less memory overhead.
