1) release way before holidays so fanboys punch each other out while waiting in line
2) let the news media get interested and start running stories about this "Halo 3 thing" which they don't understand anyway (saves MS advertising costs)
3) start using the 65nm chips (saves MS production costs)
4) BUNDLE AWAY!!!!
If the war was over tomorrow, I don't think there would be any difference in overall sales at all. That won't happen until the player prices drop.
I thought that only Blu-ray exclusive titles were the only movies worth watching?
I just hope it doesn't break before then!
--I threw that one in for all of you MS haters :)
Calderra is right. I think before the fanboys can recover from the wiplash, combo players will have arrived and made this war essentially over.
--People will just need to get used to having 2 dozen logos on the front of their players:(Blu-ray,HD-DVD,DVD +,- ,wr-,wr+,cd,8-track,....)
George Lucas controls the release of all his movies, not FOX.
They may want him to release it, but these movies are his to decide when and which format to distribute on.
My guess is that he will wait until this war has been decided
Got some anger issues, do you?
Why not try and let it all out.
But doesn't Lucasfilm have the actual control of the release of these films, not Fox?
If I remember it took FOREVER for the original trilogy to come out on standard DVD.(Because Lucas himself wanted them to be cleaned up)
-I support HD-DVD but this is a series that would make me buy a Blu-ray player!
especially the ones that require you to sign up and be a member.
I'm not doubting that people want a PS3, but come on people, this is a small percentage of a percentage of people that are CNET members.
The most important question is how may people participated in this?
10, 100, 1000? That info may put things in perspective.
There were too may bad guys(that in the end they try and make you feel sorry for) What is that all about?
It will obviously do well in sales, it IS Spiderman, but just isn't up to par with the first or second films.
They release a new SKU with better features(larger HDD,HDMI,new color, and cables) that cost more!
It is a win,win for MS:
-they make up for the extra cost of hardware
-recent 360 prem buyers don't feel taken because it does cost more
(not alot though)
-It still costs less than the PS3
I also keep reading that NOT having HD-DVD drive was a bad idea because it makes the Elite less of a home media center. What?!
Remembe...
I thought this was about the ten systems "actually" in the article, not the ones that people "wished" were in it.
Why waste your time trying to make negative comments about games on a service I'm sure you don't have or want? I mean really, what is the point? Do you think you are changing peoples minds? Probably not.
But these games are classics. I know I spent more than my fare share of MS points worth of quarters back in the day.
Nintendo's HQ and Microsoft's HQ are only located 20 miles away from each other. (until June)
This SKU is not for existing 360 owners. It is designed for new buyers trying to make the choice of a PS3 or 360. I know of at least 3 people that were going to buy a 360(because of Gears) but when they found out about the Elite, they waited.
-lucky bastards, (remember it's only $70 more for new buyers)
MS is positioning themselves for the holiday season when IPTV and Halo 3 come out.
Lucasarts seemed to disappear for a while, but if this is a taste of the kind of games that are coming, the future looks good! (I just want Battlefront 3)
extreme capitalism or mental illness?
You just continue to prove my point. I guess in your mind no one is responsible for their own actions. Someone else put the knife in his hand and someone else stabbed the guy? Sorry I just don't have any simpathy for murderers.
Welcome to blaming everything but the actual PERSON responsible
I don't want to pay $160 for a disc. (based on the $20 they charge for one single layer BD-25 disc)
