Don't understand the fervor for Crackdown to be honest, the first game was decent enough, but nothing dazzling (I really liked the traversal but the combat was quite weak in my opinion) and the second game was utter dogshit. I feel like it has taken on extra significance because all of MS's eggs are all in one basket so to speak, this is it for AAA outside of the usual Gears, Forza, Halo triumvirate.

Desperately sad, really nicely written piece.

While nowhere near as debilitating as this poor guy, I have been plagued by an untreatable limiting disability since my early teens and can totally relate to how games can help you escape you physical limitations. Reading this puts things in perspective though, I really am lucky. I have my wife and children, a job I enjoy and a roof over my head and my condition still leaves me relatively active for spells.

I agree divine, I already got the Platinum in my favourite PS4 games, Bloodborne and Uncharted 1 through 4, not that their performance bothered me, they all played incredibly well in my opinion. Having said that, the idea of an even smoother Bloodborne does make me wish I could delete my trophies and start over :)

Looking at my shelf, I have 140+ games I can revisit so I amight really excited for this next firmware upgrade, I think Evil Within will be my first replay, I re...

Honestly, upscaled or not, the games on my 4K screen and Pro look incredible. Tomb Raider, Uncharted 4, Battlefield, Gravity Rush 2, hell, even the likes of Diablo 3 look amazing.

I cannot wait to try Horizon for myself though, that game looks insanely good.

I really don't see how they can be considered to be similar games. They are open world games, sure, but tonally and mechanically they are completely different. This is just a narrative being pushed by journalists to generate some kind of controversy or conflict where none exists.

For my part, I have a WiiU and will pick Zelda up at some point but there is no way I am buying another Nintendo machine while there is so little to play on it, I want to see more than Zelda ...

God, so many games I am excited for, I just cannot keep up! This and Crash are exciting to me, I long for a return of the platformers.

The problem is, the games media and Youtube influencers are completely out of step with the average consumer. They push the narrative of a digital only future but of course, they are busy getting their free digital codes. I can go and buy a physical copy of a new release from my favourite online retailer for £39 while it costs £55 on PSN; that's a price increase of 41% for a digital title.

Even when the publishers offer a sale price they rarely feel like a r...

I guess it's my history of gaming since the late 70s but frame rate has never been a barrier to me enjoying a good game. I will never understand those who get so hung up on frame rate, sure higher frame rates are nice, but it didn't stop Bloodborne being my favourite game of the last 3 or 4 years, it didn't stop me loving every minute of Uncharted 4, it didn't stop me enjoying games on my PC before graphics cards came around.

Wish I had the stomach for scary games, as I got older I found I just plain shit myself, this game sure does look great though.

Its a very fair point to say that Sony extremists ridiculed the 360 when it embraced indies early on, I guess borne out of MS's unwillingness to invest in AAA outside of it core series, all the while being envious of great titles such as Shadow Complex, Limbo, Mark if the Ninja etc. While I agree it is innacurate to say MS dont invest, I think there was and is, a clear gulf in the way they invest in games.

I feel that MS want profit, above all else, and as such you see...

No interest in Halo to be honest with you squire, I am more of a Total War kinda guy where RTS type games are concerned. As for the other indies, Rise and Shine looked pretty good but its going to be a steam sale jobby for me and these titles just dont stack up against the PS4 exclusives that I am chomping at the bit for. Conan is going to XB1 in an unfinished state as an early access type gig which Sony won't allow so I will just wait for the PS4 release there.

While...

The problem you have too, is that all 3rd party and indie stuff is selling much more on their competitors system which makes the xB1 a less attractive option than PS4.

Sorry Phil, but its going to take more than a tweet to convince me. Other than Cuphead I am not anticipating anthing on XB1.

Having played Last Guardian I am now looking forward to Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza O and most of all, Nioh in the next 3 weeks.

As much as I enjoyed Mario 3D world and MarioKart 8, I cannot help but feel burned by Nintendo. Next to nothing came out that I was excited for over the 4 years I owned it and with these prices I just cannot justify it a second time around.

I always cling to the hope that Nintendo will modernise and try and compete with Sony but I just dont see it happening this time around. Too many gimmicks, not enough games and WAY too expensive for me to take a risk on.

Konami had already started down the track of pulling out of the AAA space so there was no trust lost at all there, MS however, had been pushing what looked to be a good game for 2 years before pulling the plug.

Not that I ever trust anything MS say, but I think this is much more damaging. Ultimately, Konami didnt care about public perception, MS very much do.

Spencer does what he can, but MS as a company has never fully embraced the console market. Having said that, he was just as much a part of the XB1 design and launch strategy as the other execs so he cannot be completely absolved of any responsibility for the XB1 launch.

I never liked or trusted MS before they entered the console market and I cant honestly say I like them now. I acknowledge and am thankful for the role they played in revolutionising the online side of con...

Major Nelson, the number one reason I have negative feelings towards MS.

Would do almost anything to get a sequel, my favourite game on PS4 by a mile. Would love a PS4Pro version of the original with stackable trophies so I could go for the platinum again.
