But the fundamentals aren't right chief, having a variety of different things to do is a fundamental element of game design. If, after 5 or 6 hours you have played every mission type in the game, that is a problem, let alone the lack of any progression of any kind outside of cosmetics (which you cannot see from first person view anyway).

It is a real shame because you can see the promise and the production values are fantastic, but, pardon the pun, this ship has sailed...

The Rare you are reminiscing about are long dead sadly, MS drove them into the ground with all their Kinect nonsense and the original talent jumped ship. They are Rare in name only these days.

Not that I regret GG moving on to new projects, because Horizon was incredible, but I get pretty fed up with shit sites like Gamingbolt slagging off Kilkzone. I personally really liked that series and clearly, I wasn't alone as the games sold millions of copies.

I'll concede that their comments on perceived issues are less egregious here, but most of their content, particularly when comparing platforms against each other, are completely unnecessary.

Nonetheless, he does complain about issues like frame rate dips when we are talking a drop to 29fps for a second here or there. It is a complete non issue, but they MUST find something to legitimise their existence.

I subscribed to DF years ago when they reviewed...

I would love to have the space to collect videogames but I have nostalgia for the Commodore 64 and Amiga and they did not skimp on the packaging for those systems. I would need a warehouse to store all the games for those systems.

I love nostalgia and I think those feelings only get stronger as you get older.

Cannot wait to play this game.

Watching the video, I am reminded why I unsubscribed to Digital Foundry. Their willingness to freeze frame and zoom in 300 percent to find flaws drives me nuts, as does their moaning because in a few spots, it's drops to an average of 29 frames per second (from 30FPS).

They can only justify their existence by finding these ridiculously nit-picky faults and while I do not doubt their technical talents or their unbiased c...

Anyone who believes MS is pushing this because the care about all gamers is completely deluded.

When they were in a dominant position last gen they wanted nothing to do with crossplay, now they are getting spanked and have a playerbase that is a fraction of their competitors, they are suddenly interested. They are pushing this to try and make themselves look like they care about the gaming community while Song are being completely unreasonable.

While it undoubtedly is a better way to play it than playing on the last gen consoles, to say it looks stunning or any of the other superlatives I am seeing bandied around is bonkers.

Without an improvement in textures, the resolution bump simply highlights how low res all the models and textures are, the game looks pretty rough by today's standards.

Still, a flipping fantastic game and this is clearly the best way to play it legitimately.

I am loving my PS4Pro and I am in no rush at all to upgrade but I have to admit, I would be really excited to see news of PS5. I personally think it will be next years E3 that we will see this news.

Different people like different games to different degrees I guess.

Having played it for around 20 hours I am feeling very burnt out. Like you, I find the combat extremely monotonous, the game quite repetitive and the characters very simplistic. I have tried to persevere as the production values are fabulous, it looks and sounds fantastic and I also worry I am missing something due to its generally positive reviews.

I guess it's just not for me but ...

All good suggestions squire, particularly resting their tired franchises before people lose interest completely. As per my comment above though, why should we believe anything they say, they have been proven liars over and over again over the last 5 years.

Luckily, I don't get hung up on things like graphical fidelity. It's easy to say it looks a little rough by today's standards but back when it released on PS3 it was more than competent and the graphics certainly didn't detract from how fantastic them game was to play.

I am really excited to replay it on my PS4Pro, but that doesn't mean I have to reconsider how fantastic the original release was on PS3.

The last time they 'delivered' at E3, I was tricked into buying an Xbox. Their promise of cloud implementation tripling or quadrupling the power of the Xbox, then hololense and umpteen exclusive games made me believe that they deserved the benefit of the doubt.

Just a couple of months later, all those promising games were announced for PC to, a platform I already owned. A few years later and my Xbox hasn't been used in more than 2 years, the promised power inc...

@Bladefist
Where is the harm in being excited and discussing the prospect of a game delivering on its promise?

It's better than the usual negative, flamebait opinion pieces we see on N4G, surely.

It looks stellar, I cannot wait to find out. For me, the idea that it could be as high quality a title as the likes of Bloodborne, TLoU, Horizon, Gravity Rush 2, Nier, Persona 5 is very exciting indeed.

I can honestly say, I have never had an issue with quick time events in games. There will always be sequences in video games that would be impossible to translate into active gameplay and the only alternative to playing a cut scene which takes control away from the gamer, is to use a QTE.

Even when I think of titles such as Azura' s Wrath or Until Dawn, I still had a fantastic time and these titles were nothing but QTEs.

The problem with the gaming m...

Wow, someone completely in denial about MS's shortcomings. Such a rare occurrence on N4G.

PS3 was not underpowered it was complicated to code for and as a result, was tricky for programmers to get to grips with early on.

As far as PS3's successes, it sold at a quicker rate than 360 worldwide and despite the headstart enjoyed by the 360, the PS3 eventually overtook it in sales.

The only thing in your comment that is accurate is that it was too expensive.

3010d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I think people give MS too much credit by suggesting this problem only existed since the beginning of this generation.

MS started so well last gen, but for the last 3 years of the 360 they only released more HALO, GoW and Forza and took no chances at all. Their approach to games development on XB1 is simply carrying on from how they ended the last generation yet their hard-core fan base gives them a constant pass on behaviour they ought to be unhappy about.

Bloodborne alone warrants the purchase of a PS4......the likes of Until Dawn, Persona, Gravity Rush, Nier, Danganrompa, Horizon, Infamous, Nioh, Nino Kuni, Ratchet n Clank, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last of Us, Uncharted and Yakuza are a bonus!
