You do know that Nintenod is making more than their competitors are in the gaming market right now right?
This is a typical untrue fanboyish condomenation.
Nintendo releases new franchises every year. They just released the Wonderful 101 and Dillon's Rolling Western earlier.
Their old franchises make more money than any other gaming franchise in history so how could that possibly be a problem?
Why do all of you always foc...
Very eloquently put. Iwata is definitely the main for the job.
He pushed Nintendo's value to higher than Sony's. He knows what he is doing.
Probably in the future as their followup handheld tend to mirror the performance of their last console, but it will be no time soon and it won't be the Wii U, it will be the next DS.
GB-NES in SNES era
GBA=SNES in Gamecube era
NDS=N64 in Wii era
3DS=GC in Wii U era
You do the math.
The Wii U just needs games and better marketing as has been said for a year.
I except a new console to be announced in 2017, 5 years after their last console as they have always done independent of any critiques you and others throw at them.
You do know that Nintendo is the only game company that is currently making a profit and have just overtaken Sony as whole in value right?
-Only 2012 hit them in the wallet, and that was because they stopped supporting the Wii/DS, and the 3DS wasn't moving that well at that point. They actually posted a profit throughout 2013 despite all the negativity that people like you through at them.
-They are making a lot of profit off of their online network. Hav...
The past 3 years were overall profitable.
2012 was the first year Nintendo was not profitable in gaming ever and that is because they had stopped supporting the Wii in 2011, 3DS was being sold at a loss for how few were actually sold and they didn't get their next console out till the end of year. It was pretty much a year of no business.
They posted a profit in their last few financial reports.
Nintendo isn't at their best, but the...
Losing Iwata would be the worst possible mistake Nintendo could make.
Their are many problems with the company but he is not one of them. The people who go after him are the same people who want Nintendo to go third party.
The real reason for trashy articles like this is because they don't want Nintendo to be successful and beat their preferred companies, so they envision what Nintendo can do that would be best for Sony or Microsoft, not for Nintendo.
You do not that thd 3DS was the highest selling platoform by leaps and bounds right?
If that is bad then Sony and Microsoft did substantially worse.
This makes me more fearful for Nintendo competitors than Nintendo themselves.
Price drop did little. The sales fell almost immediately after. Mario 3D Land alone was pretty much the sole driver proving once again that the main issue is compelling software and awareness of the console.
Dropping the price has been proven to not work.
Price is 0% of the issue.
The problems are marketing and lack of major title releases.
No online multiplayer killed any chance of me buying this.
Nostalgia goggles?
I guess that's the new buzzword insult people are using to dismiss and attack Nintendo's success now that casual has been played out.
That's main trait of being a princess in the vast majority of literature. Nintendo's developers were just following suit and making a tradiational story line with their own spin on it(instead of a knight in shining armor you have plumbers and an elf).
Nintendo didn't invent the wheel. They certainly get criticized and bashed like they did though.
This news is taken out of context. Nintendo released the Wii in 2006 and began working on the Wii U in 2007 where they made the protoype for the Wii U Gamepad.
They are always working on new hardware. That doesn't mean its going to come out anytime soon.
Logically they are working on their next handheld. The next Nintendo home console will be announced no time before 2016.
This is complete rubbish. even the dev in the Eurogamer article made a point to say the Wii U's RAM was great and posed absolutely no problem as well as the GPU being much more advanced.
Why do you and so many others insist on marking RAM as a problem when it has been universally praised as being extremely easy to use and posing no problems at all?
Its also clear from the devs of Trine 2, who said the Wii U version would have to be downgraded to run on t...
Your last statement is wrong. As the other devs who responded to this said, it wasn't worse. I twas the same as first developing on the PS3 and 360.
Do you know how many devs went bankrupt from developing for the PS3 at the start? Free Radical and Factor 5 to name a few.
Just look at games like Skyrim, which is a late tile. The PS3 was, and still is to a degree, simply to hard to develop for. The Wii U only had a bad prelaunch problem which was due to the...
This false from the start.
The 2DS has nothing to do with Nintendo losing money because they were posting a profit. They were making pure profit off the 3DS and have been for over a year. The 2DS was made for people who can't or are advised not to use the 3D function like small children and to offer a cheaper option in time for Pokemon X/Y which was aimed at small children.
Major game releases are what skyrocketed the 3DS sales moreso than anything else....
The dev is simply telling the truth. Though you aren't even addressing the actual dev statement.
Now if someone were to say this right here. This exact statement in a Sony article with these exact words, they would have gotten marked down for trolling/offtopic or something almost immediately.
There are currently 4 devs from 4 different companies who have call out that Eurogamer dev as speaking a load of garbage and Eurogamer themselves as just making clickbait.
Of course, like all anti-Nintendo trolls, you will only accept the 1 namelsess devs who's statements is riddled with holes over the mulitple known developers who have said that the Wii U is no harder to develop for than the PS3/360.
You will also ignore that Capcom has said the PS4/Xbon...
Oh yeah, small mistake.
GB=NES era
GBC=SNES era
fixed
I forgot the Gameboy Color game in between the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance.
