No they will keep buying as they have. It strugging in the U.S. Europe, not Japan.
Its the highest selling console in Japan and has been for a while now.
Do any of you actually read the articles you comment on?
This is about software prices, not hardware prices.
They are already losing money on the Wii U with each one sold. Lowering the price further would cost them more money.
How will selling a console that is being sold at a loss at an even larger loss making them profitable?
Actually that would be saying goodbye to billion, not millions.
Most of Nintendo's profits comes from their hardware division.
The Wii U never had a tablet. So that would be impossible.
As for the touchscreen gamepad, that is built into the design of all of the games and is required for a lot of them to even run. Its also the best feature about the console and the main reason I bought it over the others. Same with everyone else I know who has a Wii U.
The Wii U gamepad the only thing out of all the next gen console that I can't get better on my PC.
You can't increase your profits by selling a console that is already sold at a loss at a bigger loss.
They are losing money on the hardware already. A price cut will cost them more money.
Even if it increased sells(which it has been proven to not do with the dozens of price drops that occurred last year) that would not make them more money. It would cause them to lose more money.
There is nothing rational about what you suggest.
Nintendo is making profit on the 3DS and have been for over a year.
Its true that the Wii U is selling at a loss, though and even moreso sense the price drop, which makes me wonder why people think dropping the price even lower with help their profits. It will make it worse.
All they have to do is lower the cost of the Wii U's development to make profit on the hardware and release more major software. The latter is inevitable. We know the games are in the...
It would be nice if all of these people trying to talk about how to fix the problems at Nintendo would first look at what they actually are.
Lack of software is the biggest problems and that will not be the problem for much longer.
Poor marketing is also problem but that has been fixed in Japan as current sells are showing. Nintendo of America is doing a terrible job of marketing.
I don't see how firing Iwata and causing more turmoil in ...
Making Iwata the fall guy will fix nothing and make a lot of things worse.
There are many problems at Nintendo right now, but he is not one of them. He has more than doubled the companies value in less than a decade.
He would be one of the last things that anyone who actually wanted what's best for Nintendo to see go. Only Nintendo haters want him to leave because they don't want him to pull Nintendo back into the lead. It would be detrimental to th...
You said a whole so you are talking about their games division and every other division.
Its all about the software.
Why would Nintendo want to give something successful a break? That makes no sense. That's just as stupid as when people say they should stop relying on their old franchises, which annually gross more than any other games franchises on the planet.
What Nintendo needed to do is open more studios and contract more developers to make games for them which they are doing. They just bought a new second party dev last week and their were the big hiring pushes that happened at Re...
Actually, Failing with 3 consoles in row, discontinuing 1 console early causing people to be distrustful of the company, and poor management decisions:ie. making people who were doing good for the company the fall guys when bad stuff happened(like Hidekazu Yukawa and Yu Suzuki) is what caused SEGA to leave the console industry and plummet in both finance and popularity.
So actually, yes. Doing what all of the Nintendo haters are crying for Nintendo do is what killed SEGA'...
You mean Call of Duty? The highest selling game on both consoles which the developers admitted was predominately because of casual gamers?
Do you know what hardcore gamers are? I'm a hardcore gamer. We are people who like variety and play many types of games on many platforms. Nintendo is the only game console manufacturer that still offers true variety.
They already have the real hardcore gamers. You mean they should aim for graphics whores and people wh...
Stats show that software was the predominant booster for the 3DS. Not the price cut.
Same with the Wii U. Price cut hardly changed sales at all and they went back down 2 weeks later. Mario 3D Land led the Wii U to sale more in one month than the console sold all year.
Software is the biggest pusher in sales, not price. Otherwise the PS4 and Xboxone wouldn't be selling.
Despite the fact that Nintendo is doing better financially than either Microsoft or Sony.
I've never seen a person make this statetment that didn't want it, HOPINGLY, to be reality because the entire "Iwata should be removed, discontinue the Wii U, Nintendo should go third party" train of though follows logic that is filled with holes and contradicts reality.
Nintendo problems are easily solved with time. They're losses are tiny compared to how much they actually have while their competitors losses are NOT tiny.
Did I forget ...
And this is supposed to be Nintendo site...ugh
Look right above you see your ignorance.
Sony and Microsoft's gaming divisions will die will die before Nintendo does.
They've always done that. The Wii was the first time they didn't and the Wii was their most successful console ever.
Hardware specs has nothing to do with the issues at hand though.
I always find it mind boggling that in any event where something bad happens with Nintendo, people always make issues out of the things aren't doing bad.
